One of the BEST things about mountain biking at night is choosing your own adventure! Night riding is an adventure and a great time to explore more by mixing up the trails and directions. This is exactly what makes this MTB night ride at Blankets Creek exceptional.
I choose to start Van Michael clockwise, switching to counterclockwise midway through. Practicing my downhill speed and control to gain confidence on the YT Jeffsy mountain bike.
After venturing off the grid, I finish Van Michael early after a bat flew and hit my helmet light. Taking the emergency access route to Mosquito Bite, Mosquito Flats, and moving on to Dwelling Loop.
At the top of Dwelling Loop, I decide to exit early. My rear brake and dropper were having issues, and I cut down the emergency access joining back into Dwelling Loop clockwise. I finish Dwelling, and comment about the night ride adventure while leaving Blankets Creek on Hamilton Hop.
At night, you have much more flexibility to decide what trails to ride and which parts of these trails you wish to ride. I was able to greatly improve by focusing on my downhill speed and control mountain biking on this night ride. Gaining needed confidence on my downhill mountain biking, this was a great accomplishment making me a more balanced mountain biker. This is where choosing your own adventure on a night ride is not only fun, it is an advantage for a chance to practice mountain biking.
