Always been a gear head started on cars, I'm about to pick up welding once I sell my first flip truck and attend class not bad 5k 4 weeks go from nothing to fryin bacon. However I always see the whole kit for these go for 600 for small one 800 for a normal minibike but had to ask all and all what did you have in this?

    What the height in inches of the top of the handle bars down to the end of the fork cause I’m planning of just using bike forks instead of making them will that work?

    • @Bradrick_Larney_Sr
      @Bradrick_Larney_Sr Рік тому

      Mini bike forks are usually much longer and made from much more durable tubing than most bikes. As much as I love building things and seeing other people's creations. I don't suggest you using bike forks on a mini bike, which you would have to modify in order to do so anyway. I'm saying this out of experience honestly. My first mini bike frame I built from scratch a few years back, I used front forks, wheel, stem and bars from a Walmart mongoose with aluminum front room figuring it would all hold up well. Of course I had to extend the fork tube and manipulate them a little. But it worked decent until I went off road. After half dozen turns, the front rim literally broke in half causing me to go over the bars. Luckily I was able to laugh that one off as I was only going 10 to 15 mph. I switched to a Haro heffer front rim. Back in business. That was until the forks bent inward after hitting a small pothole. The only parts that didn't bend was the part that I fabricated and welded. That one I didn't get up laughing due to me face planting the cement! I'm just saying, do what you will. Just be careful. Otherwise I would go a different route! Mini bike forks are designed the way they are with the steel they're made of for a reason.

    How are you ever going to change that wheel bearing, since it was still in place when you welded on that brake hub? Did you add another bearing on the outside? I was having a similar issue trying to restore an old Arctic Cat. Just today I saw a new wheel with TWO mounting hubs... one for sprocket and one for brakes. $40. I ordered it, since the hub I tried to make is so ugly and off center I can't use it. I don't have access to a lathe or drill press. I hope it works.
