Do you have to take it off when the dog lies down or is the plastic flexible enough that it doesn’t impede their rest?

Thank you, we have a 14yr old mastiff x ridgeback who has very rapidly deteriorating eyesight and cant buy anything in time so will make one today <3 Hes very large and really struggling!

It is 2024 and sadly we cannot find the harness required for this DIY build. I do not think Top Paw makes this style of harness anymore. Does anyone have any suggestions for an alternative collar? I've looked on eBay and Amazon and it seems all affordable harnesses are made of lightweight mesh. Help!

I already had this harness for my chihuahua. I used zip ties instead of the bolts and this was a great alternative. Thanks for making the time to make this video. My Chihuahua is 16 and has lost partial vision in one eye, she was running into walls nonstop and thumping her head. She’s more confident in her steps now with the bumper buddy and not hitting the walls anymore as her head is protected. Thanks so much y’all♥️

This part of the internet... the part where kind people help others out with inexpensive, effective DIY projects with clear instructions and accessible components... this is top tier, and you are top tier people! I've been going back and forth about whether our newly blind dog needed a halo (he's getting around great in just a few days of adjusting), but now that I can just convert one of his existing harnesses like this for a small amount of time and money, it's a no-brainer. Thank you for being wonderful people! PLUS, I like this much better than the eye or visor-level ones, this design seems to provide much more 'bumper' and less obstruction to their natural motion.

This is wonderful, thank you so much for sharing! We just rescued a blind pup and halos on the market are just way too expensive. I would probably place some pieces of leather or neoprene over the hardware that was anywhere near my pup in case of irritation. Again, thank you so much of all of your help! Is this comfortable to sleep in? I'm worried because my baby sleeps a lot. I don't want him to be uncomfortable with those bolts on the side. He usually sleeps on blankets on the floor.

Thank you for posting this, im going to give it a try for a blind poodle in the shelter i volunteer at!!!

I keep my two blind dogs in my bedroom and bathroom which has a doggie door to go outside. so they know where their water and food is and they know how to go out the doggie door but at night I close the doggie door and have the peepee pad for them they learn fast where everything is at why vet don't help dogs with their eyes that is the most expenses thing to fix on a dog so sad

I know you made this years ago but you talk kinda fast. Any way you can write down the supplies needed. My dachshund is newly blind and she absolutely needs this
