This would be the off grid version of the "incinolet" which is electric for domestic use . ... I also remember seeing an add in MEN for another manufacturer that made propane pwrd version... It made sense to me that one could execute a "ruff and ready" version which IMHO is a much better solution than conventional septic or municipal waste water Goliaths !$!
Right! A traditional flush toilet is a water hog. I've since switched to composting. Just taking a different approach for a while. I'll go back to incineration if need be.
@@amicusfirepits... Agreed the issue is all the wasted potable water ! I imagine the better way ( a sort of conventional/ alternative hybrid ) would be to start with grey water as the flush & transport medium to the "heat alt" processor of which one could separate the "solids" from the grey water via screen drain what have you. Then the isolated solids would be dried out to inert solids of a charcoal/ash type consistency. The grey water fluids can more readily be deposited into a "dry sump" type holding reservoir. ( Which I would envision as being a simple hole or ditch of appropriate size for the application. This hole/ditch could then be kept full of yard waste (clippings leaves, twigs etc. this would allow the grey water dry sump to both seep into the ground, where it would be naturally broken down and also be absorbed into the yard waste helping it to dissolve & there would also be a fair amount of evaporation taking place... more in the warmer months less in the cooler. )
What is the power source brother? Would it be an option to use a 110vac solenoid? Plug er right into the wall??
I opted for a 12v solenoid. You could use a 120v to 12v converter as a power supply to plug into the wall. I'm not sure if there's a comparable 120v solenoid available.
I'm gonna give this a try on my Ashley propane direct vent wall furnace in my cabin....I found out the lowest setting 1 on it correlated to 62 degrees which burns way too much fuel. I have a wood furnace to fire up while I am there so 50 degrees is adequate to keep water pipes from freezing. Now I know how to make it happen. Thank you so much.
If you were in the desert you could just dry your solids in the sun, there's coyote and javelina 💩 everywhere laying around in the desert and it dries to a crisp. In India they dry and stack up cow pies like cordwood to use as fuel in fireplaces and furnaces.
Hello, just seen your "waste / sawdust" burner on another video, but the question is: could that be applied to a "traditional" log stove ? Thank you.
I completed this hack on my buddy portable. I'm curious to see how much longer it will last on a 20 lb. tank
Very cool. Just added the solenoid to my wishlist soon as you pointed it out!!😂🎉 Be great for my tiny cabin in the woods!!🎉 🪵 🏕️
I went through deep depression about 10 years ago, for two years straight. I went to work everyday and no one knew that I would go home right after and cry all night. My mom and sister wanted me to just snap out of it because they could not understand how i was feeling. Then one day i was alone in my mom's room laying across my mom bed crying. Then I felt a strong hand on my back holding me down, then I heard a multitude of angels singing the most beautiful song i ever heard before, I knew it was a multitude of angel but they were so nsync with each other that it sounded as if it was one. After that the hand lifted off of me and the depression I have for 2 years was automatically gone. CALL OUT TO JESUS❤ NOT ONLY DOES JESUS SAVES YOUR SOUL, BUT HE FILLS THAT DEEP EMPTY INSIDE THAT YOU HAVE BEEN TRYING YEARS TO SATISFY WITH WORLDY DESIRES, THAT GRATIFIED YOU FOR A WHILE , JUST TO RETURN WITH A VENGEANCE, WHEN JESUS FILLS YOU WILL NEVER AGAIN FILL THAT EMPTINESS.😊
Inflation sucks! Your Fire Pit doesn't have to.
No need to worry about adding too much wood.
Cooler weather is coming 🎉
Greyhound busses had inserators built on the bus with the engine if u can get the same ideas gets rid of it quickly nice video
Why not just compost it? Separate the urine and I can deal with the solid waste, toliet paper and medium of 8 people in my family with 3 times a 55 gallon drum. I leave it along for 12 months after it is full and worms and bugs turn it into black soil. Each spring I spread 160 gallons of black compost onto my lawn. 6 55 gallon drums takes 40 sqft of land space. 6 x 6 feet
@@greggrimer354 actually, I have started drums for composting. I find it's less labor intensive than the burning method.
So where did you find the big metal pot that holds the 25 gallons of feces?
That's a 55 gallon drum. I've since switched to composting all of our solid waste.
Thanks for showing us! I took it one step further and built a permanent RV heater out of our (brand new) little buddy. Your method works amazingly well!
This is way better than those expensive incinerator toilets that I’ll never be able to afford, thank you very much for sharing. I’m also not really interested in composting unless it’s vermicomposting. I would like to get a septic tank eventually but it’s not a priority right now.
i bought 2 incinerating toilets on facebook buy and sell for 500 each incinolet 5000$new i got 2 for 1000$ i never thought i would have 1 let alone 2
Its a shame you dont have some long charcoal pieces you can put in the middle. Spaced well apart you would still have airflow but the charcoal would keep it lit.
Maybe a wire mesh center to help prevent collapse
good information
Well done! I must keep a Homer Bucket, with the ringed seat, in the back of my pickup truck! The windows on the P/U shell are heavily tinted. On any travels, be they local to interstate travels that bucket and bag of, yes, fine cut sawdust goes with. Not scared in the least to pull off in whatever convenient parking area and take care of business. Note: In March of 2019, I was misdiagnosed 2x in 3 days by a military ER Doctor who, after cursory examination, told me I was simply constipated. After second visit I passed my entire dead large intestine in my house. 10 days in ICU. Now, I don’t give a damn where I am at when the urge hits, I have very little response time! One of the large intestine functions is extract liquids, I cannot do that anymore! My story may be gross, yes, but I do think you hit a great idea for your throne!
I’m gonna guess that the oblong seat is better than the round to fit everything?
2nd Comment: Might using a cylinder of rolled expanded metal down the center hold a "chimney" better? Expanded metal provides support, handles the heat, and restricts clumps from falling, thereby choking the flamefront. Just a suggestion. 😊
55 gallons of smoldering burning poop conjures up unspeakable horrors. I use a composting toilet utilizing tall draw-string plastic kitchen bags. Nugget: I eat a 100% carnivore diet and poop only a tiny amount about every 9 days. I have done this for 3 years. I enjoy robust health and do not gain weight. In fact, in 3 years, I have lost over 100 pounds and kept it off.
Yikes!
Yup! Maintain a safe distance...😁
What kind of buddy with t-stat.
Cool video 👍 , I’m the wirenut from Brewster Dairy!
So, what do u do with your plastic, metal, and glass? I have a 92$ garbage bill every month. If I can reduce that by 60$ that’s 720$ per year.
We take anything recyclable to the local Fire station. They have collection dumpsters.
@@amicusfirepits I’m thinking of building my own compactor dump trailer and paying to dump once a year. Or perhaps twice. When compressed, it does not tale much space. I have an old garbage compactor to do each bag.
Is there any smells that come with burning it ? Like of you had neighbors would they know you were burning poo ?
Generally, I'll burn after dark and pay attention to wind direction. I have several buckets so I can select ideal conditions so as not to offend the neighbors. Any smoke I get smells more like wood smoke than anything else.
@@amicusfirepits thank you. We have been trying to find an alternative to our current method that isn't very efficient. This is much better. Thank you again sir
As a mechanic, axles are rated for much lower than they can actualy handle. I would fill er up to the top. It puts more stress on the axles to have less weight sloshing like crazy than more weight stabilized anyhow. If you're still worried, repack the wheel bearings more frequently.
I know what you mean. I can feel the weight shifting around as I drive. Liquid freight carrier tanks have internal baffles for a reason.
That Rooster freaking loves you!! LOL!! Great video and great to keep your cool while filming... I would have been having a chicken dinner and then re-videoing...lol!
Thank you so much for this. I lost track of this video for a while and now suddenly I have found it again. Planning to use this in my RoadTrek van.
Glad it was helpful!
I would choose a Olympian wave heater over Mr Buddy anyway . It’s sips the propane and produces a dry heat . I have used mine every winter for 5 years so please don’t tell me it’s a wet heat .
Okay...I don't have any experience with the Olympian Wave. So I won't tell you anything you don't want to hear. I admire your passion, but there seems to be a bit of hostility in your comment. Unless I'm just misinterpreting. Sorry
@@amicusfirepits not at all. It’s just everyone I try to tell how good it is says it bad because it’s a wet heat and I understand as the literature says it’s changes co2 to vapor. I had one guy argue with me a few days ago so sorry that sounded that way. It’s just that I feel it’s the perfect heater as it’s dry and incredibly efficient. Watch static vans utube video describing the same thing and everyone is telling him it’s wet. I even dry clothes in front of it and it uses less than 5 pounds of propane a month . I just wish the manufacturer did better job explaining to the public on it . Good luck.
Great way to wire the heater up. The thermostat is set to heat pump electric heat. Normal setting is r and c for wiring a thermostat correctly
Finding the correct terminals in this situation was basically trial and error. I eventually found something that worked.
Q about the urine youve diverted, then what... Do you let that evaporate somewhere, or cook it to evaporate it, or have an area where you dump it on the ground?
My urine diverting toilet drains into an underground plumbing system that combines it with our grey water. It's held in a buried 40 gallon drum and that gets pumped up to an elevated leech mound. Each time the pump cycles it delivers 2 gallons to the mound. The sloped discharge pipe then drains back to prevent freezing in winter.
Too Long
I agree
That humming noise is very distracting.
It's probably the ceiling light/exhaust fan you're hearing.
Add a small amount of diesel to the sawdust
Come do mine please 😂I want my garage to turn on and off Like this
Is yours a free standing propane unit or a wall mounted unit running on natural gas?
Wall mounted propane same thing. Just hung it up
Landscape dude. Not portrait. First rule of video.
It would be great if you could show more on connectors. Good vid.
you have the right concept but you can downscale the whole process to single use or daily use. I don't save buckets of composting waste. I use a wood stove and all my garbage waste except metal and glass gets incinerated. I also clean the cat's litter box the same way. None of my crap gets handled or taken outside. The ashes are reusable with the compost toilet along with sawdust.
how would you go about using it daily instead of the way this guy showed us? would you do anything differently?
set it up and try it yourself. I refuse to answer ignorant questions. when you pick up your dog's poop outside. it's that simple as an example of what I'm doing. The only difference is that I live in a motorhome and I have very little water. I had no other choice but to remove the flush toilet and black water waste because I was almost caught committing a bylaw violation that nearly had me subjected to getting huge fines and tickets. For years, people and neighbors constantly complained about the disgusting smells that come from people living in their RVs. I'm the first person in Canada living fulltime in the RV who no longer uses a black water tank. other people live fulltime in RVs as well but they're quitting it because they don't know how to manage their sewage waste. It's a disgusting and embarrassing major flaw in RV living, especially for many of us who live in a major city! Once the police and bylaw officers keep door knocking over ongoing complaints year after year. Many people feel they have no choice but to quit RV living because it's not worth all the bullshit and hassles. I've put up with all of it but I gave specific reasons why I was refusing to go back into housing to the point that I have threatened arson and threatened to endanger people's lives. I'm a rent free zero cost off grid pioneer who has taken this lifestyle to a whole other level and I don't even own land or pay property taxes. As much as some people have said that I am a genius for what I'm doing. Truth is, the rest of you are all gossiping backbiters and two faced backstabbers and none of you like what I'm doing! I no longer make videos to promote free living because I get rumored as being a loser and deadbeat. I don't make videos to show you how to do this because more people have tried to get into this way of living till they screw up and get caught with illegal sewage dumping and they get themselves caught in their own ignorance. I just make my own music or noise and the odd video of me and my cat. I no longer want a subscriber base on my channel. I could care less who watches me or thinks they know anything that can be of help to make my life better. everyone around me (in real life not the internet) are all stupid and ignorant or naive as fuck. I forcefully tell people everyday "you have no right to dictate to me how I'm supposed to live my life"
One thing I don't do is take it outside. What I did was I relocated my toilet next to the wood stove. But I can move it to make space so I don't risk burning myself too close to the wood stove. after I used the toilet, I take the ash scoop that's used for the wood stove and I move the compost mixture to cover up the smell. then I scoop it out and toss it directly into the wood stove. If I don't need a fire right away, I just leave it. But on cold days or nights, I can light a fire and the poop waste simply burns down to ashes. I also use the same method cleaning out my cat's litter box, except that my cat also pees and poops in it. I've seen a lot of DIY videos of composting toilets basically made out of a bucket. I made the same thing except that I use a smaller size pail. Instead of letting the pail get full of waste and then having to dump it, my setup is much smaller and way easier to deal with. Sometimes I've been out on a bike ride for a few hours and I gotta rush home urgently needing to use the toilet. For me it's ready to use immediately and I do my business, I also use a pump sprayer sort of like a bidet to quickly clean myself up. I don't always shower especially in the cold winters. The bidet method was also really handy if I'm sick with the flu or if I had eaten something that didn't agree with me. sometimes I have to go up on my roof to clear the snow off my solar panels or clean the soot out of the chimney pipe. Even if there is poop burning in the wood stove, the smell is barely noticeable. The best part is that anyone who passes by my RV, no longer has to put up with the smell of the black water tank ever since I removed the flush toilet! I no longer have to worry about the smell, the tank getting full or the valve freezing in the winter and being unable to empty it! I literally perfected the ability to living fulltime in my motorhome! If I had a family with a wife and kids, then I would just have to increase the capacity to accommodate more people to use the toilet. but I live alone. Just recently, another RV'er just parked on the same street where I am. Someone spotted his bucket under his black water tank and complained to the city about it. I was getting the same complaints for the last few years and I was able to find a permanent method to get rid of that problem. No more sani dumping and yeah I really am one of those people who thinks my shit doesn't stink! But it did take me a few years to get it worked out. I basically reinvented the lightbulb!
Gross dude..
what's gross is when we drink the tap water just after flushing the toilet and our ignorant government keeps us worrying about air quality! Next time you pass by a city's water treatment plant. Open your window and take a deep breath! If you've passed by my place while the wood stove is burning, you wouldn't know the difference! Also look up "incinerator toilets"
Time to re-do this one with LIGHT and an explanation of what we're seeing and how it works.
Do you have a list of the parts you used with possible links and or model numbers on solenoid and thermostat
Yet there's air freshener on the back of his toilet
perhaps replace the pvc with an expanded rolled up metal tub so you don't need to remove it (I'd be afraid the chimney column would collapse during burning)
It has collapsed in the past. I've since used 1/2" hardware cloth to make a wire frame tube. I think the next upgrade will be some expanded metal. That should hold up a bit better.
where did you find your urine seperator
This is the closest to what I have. www.ebay.com/itm/324204719230?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=rZBCc7EYSj-&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=_-ydsLG8Ql2&var=513264695796&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
great set up, thanks for sharing. Just a note, that fan sounds a bit loud for the setup. Not sure what you are using but 100mm cpu fan are super quiet, cheap to buy and run and should suffice. Either that or you have some cobwebs or bugs caught in your fan! My experience tells me they need cleaning out after a while.
Why not have the tank inderneath the outhouse and everytime you use it you finish by poring a spoon of saw dust then when its full you remove the tank and fire it up.
We don't have an outhouse. Our toilet is inside with a urine diverter to keep as much fluid as possible out of the equation.
Thank you for your video. Couldn't I just burn it daily in my regular burn barrel? That way I wouldn't have to go into storing or layering.
Daily burning may be possible. You may need an established fire to add it to or have to use an accelerant like the military does. They mix waste with jet fuel in remote areas where there is no infrastructure. Let me know how things work out please.
@@amicusfirepits thanks.
When they work, incinerating toilets don't use that much energy, although they are more pricey than they should be. While this process may be effective, keeping buckets of dung around isn't something I'd really want to do. Also, seems like it takes a lot more time and energy for this option than using an incinerating toilet (not to mention the state where I live prohibits "burn" barrels), which is essentially what this is. We also have burn bans, which prohibit ANY kind of burning - even recreational.
If it ever came down to not being able to burn, I'd switch to composting. I believe I have the appropriate mix of carbon to nitrogen for that to work. Generally it takes a minimum of 6 months to make it safe as a fertilizer. That's going to need a lot more buckets, close to 60 in rotation unless I just create a large singular pile. The upside to having a pile would be the heat generated. Could use that heat in winter to warm the house or greenhouse.
