4:21 the situation, the weather and the song have made this scene the most I remembered in this series. I've watched so many anime but there are no other scenes keep echoing in my mind like this scene, I dunno why it felt romantic. If they ever do a remake to this series I hope they keep this scene with the same song. The Motocycle power armor is the biggest draw but the show did have more traditional mecha as well in the plane mechs too. Although they are smaller then most mecha, even other transforming planes

Dragonball scouter became the best

I've been digging into the production of Zillion and I actually found a source where they outright say the scouters were inspired by Layzner. Hiroyuki Okiura joined the staff early on and he had enough pull that he pretty much got the zillion project off the ground. Okiura got Anime R to handle a lot of the animation and Anime R was known for collaborating with Ryosuke Takahashi having worked on both Panzer World Galient and Layzner. On the subject of Roberto he's not from the Giant Robo manga, he's a character from Mitsuteru Yokoyama's manga Mars who was retooled for the Giant Robo OVA. In the original Mars manga his monocle isn't a scouter he just wears it to look fancy (I also don't think they ever say his name, Roberto was made up for the Giant Robo OVA). I know the dragonball wiki credits Roberto but the DB wiki is full of misinformation (i've fallen for their lies in the past as well).

Nicely worded! I haven't watched much mecha so I can't really comment on those, but you make good points about idol anime with how the characters deliberately transform themselves, forge their own destiny and have confrontations of wills and perspectives that are also things I like a lot in anime in general. Macross is somewhere on my watch list after Gundam. It's also good to get some Love Live! and Symphogear representation along with the very brief part showing Idolm@ster Xenoglossia which is the first thing I think of with idols x mecha from a cross-over perspective, even if it doesn't have many idol elements in it.

Wow 50 Comments already, but yea I like Metallica with some mute manga for Otaku as well think Tomino is awesome. Evangelion needs a better cap though so far. Halloween sort of with evil versions of the personages. Hope much for that.

Layyner sounds a lot like battlefield earth which is Scientology inspired. The scouters are a direct analog of the "E-meter" in Scientology. This is bizarre, DBZ is an offshoot of Scientology...

finally rediscovered this video. when this video first came out i would listen to this video every day for a few weeks whilst i did my own macross mospeada inspired designs for my uni course. then i lost this video and no amount of search terms on youtube for variations of mospeada came up with anything. now i found it again. time to work on new mecha designs!

Miracle - Yellow Belmonts back story is Explained in a Sepia tone Flashback . Yellow was a NON mech pilot in the 2nd EARTH recapture force . he was as Aero Spaceplane pilot w/ a non Transforming plane. (Lagaran). but he is well trained in operation of Mospeada armor and both Alpha & Beta fighters. he was shot down in the Town where they held a Yellow Dancer concert to Disguise HVT cells from INBIT and transport safely. Yellow w/ help from his savior(girl) , regained health , but had to Dress up like a GIRL to avoid townsfolk w/ guns , looking for Soldiers , and a INBIT enforcer . then Yellow became a Drifter to promote his songs.

I own this anime on blu ray with its so called English dub sadly no Japanese dub because it’s the robotech version

Mospeada and Macross are 2 of my favorite mecha animes. Both have great music. I have distinct memories of the songs of Mospeada and you cannot mistaken them from Lin Minmay's songs from Macross. I don't consider the US Robotech series as canon and Mospeada was wasted in Robotech. Mospeada was special because it was standalone like Cyberpunk Edgerunner. After the story ends, you are left with a lingering bittersweet feeling. The relationships in the anime made us care about all the main characters. Now that I think about it, it has all the usual anime tropes including the Loli. The struggle to survive, help humanity and complete the mission maintained the tension in the show. It's animation is rough by today's standard but drawing mechs takes a huge amount of precision. I would love for them to remake this with current art style of Evangelion Rebuild series. I think there will be a market for it!

I hated the CG and the keikaku characters in promised neverland. Was a chore to get through. The characters didn't feel like real people so I didn't care about them. Those demons can eat them.
