Best advice he said (which I totally agree with) is "as much as you want to put your heart and soul into it to create something that Walt would be proud of, a lot of times the clients don't want that. They want what they want and you just have to give them what they want sometimes." This is true and I have experienced it myself. There's a balance though. You don't want to get so jaded by such a mindset that you get too detached. Seeking out clients that share your heart and goals makes a big difference.
May I use this POV for my Every Roller Coaster at Dollywood Compilation Video? I'll give you full credit!
Great conversation
I was walking through Disneyland paris yesterday... the weather was glorious, the crowds were low.. I took Belgian friends through the caverns under the Tree house, the dragon liar under the castle, then walked them up the stairs to see the beautiful stained glass windows... started the day with the perfect mine train coaster... and i thank Tony each and every time i walk through the park. The details, the lay out of the park, the beautiful hidden corners... it always gives me so much joy... It really is the most beautiful of all castle parks. and i really hope it will grow in the same way as Tony and the other art-directors envisioned it.

UA-cam is a video service. Sir you need more than audio. I was so excited for this video. Your lack of video was greatly upsetting.
Sorry about that! We have this one listed as a podcast because there wasn't enough available video to do it justice. Even so, I really enjoyed the story. As well, we think that a lot of people like to listen to it while at work and while driving, so video isn't always necessary. That's why it's listed as a podcast. We have a part two in the works, perhaps with video also. And all told, we think this is a great story if you listen all the way through. I'd appreciate it if you'd help us by changing your dislike to a like so we can create more good stories with people like Brian and Rebecca. Much thanks!
@@themedattraction Hey didn't mean to be critical. Thanks for the response. Best of luck.
@@themedattraction okay changed to a like. I think if its a podcast without any video should be clear in the title. Thanks a ton.
It’s a bit of a misnomer to say there aren’t animatronics in themed attractions anymore. Nearly every major attraction in the last 20 years has one or more. There are exceptions - and yes, many of those are screen based attractions, some that deliver on an immersive experience and some that don’t. But there have been incredible investments in animatronics over the last 50 years and many examples of figures that are key to an attraction’s success (Navi river journey, for example).
It's funny you mention Navi river journey because that shaman animatronic reportedly costs around $10 million dollars. Which really underscores the point: If you could get a robot with similar functions for just $350,000, it's a tremendous value. And then Navi can have a bunch of animatronics and not just one. When we were talking to them and their partners, they used that shaman animatronic as an example of escalating costs. Also, Hershey's Cupfusion, for example, was done entirely for $6 million. So it's hard for a park like Hershey to justify a sophisticated animatronic like in Navi when it's more than their budget for the entire attraction. But for $350k it changes the game a little. We'll see what happens!
Check out Catalyst Engineering's UA-cam channel to follow along with some of their exciting animatronic builds! www.youtube.com/@CatalystEng

Any update as to why this has been closed for some time?
Hmm we aren't sure. However, we do know that they did an extensive rehab with new animation and sound not long ago. So I'm sure this classic attraction will be back soon!
Oh, I miss this ride!

This is fun
Isn't this ride closed for the season? Is it recently opened again? :o
This was filmed back in August so we aren't sure but we did love the attraction

all people participating (trainers, employees, and attendees) or associated with this should be locked in a room that is too small to lay down in and too short to stand up in for 24 hours and then see if they have a different opinion on keeping intelligent ocean traversing mammals in a tiny tank. Shameful... 50 to 100 years from now if humanity even survives it's greedy, self-centered, nerotic egoism people will look back at shit like this in amazement....
It's coming up!!
Let us know how it goes
sometimes there's hidden reasons why something is less busy/less expensive (probably the weather in this case, not really hidden but still). one year my family and i thought we got a great deal on a rental condo on the beach, right before summertime actually started (so like, right before /beginning of june if i remember) but it turns out, that time and location is the PEAK mating season for lovebugs. there were so many on our porch buzzing and mating constantly that you couldn't sit down for two seconds literally lol. but i always have a second doubt about the "least" X of anything, there's always seems to be a catch
I would love to see someone test this and upload a video about it
Keep in mind that Buzz Price had all the economic data for Disney parks for years. So he truly knew the real answers. Because of this he was able to accurately predict attendance of a multitude of new theme parks. Keep in mind that parks will offer special events to try to boost attendance during the off weeks, so year-by-year, things may be different. Even so, on the whole these are generally the best two weeks of the year to go.
Ehh from experience the best multiple days in a row are the days before school is out. Almost every school has finals around the same week. If you go during that week the parks are all basically dead.
That's true also!
Such a treat. Thanks for putting this together. Am lucky enough to have experienced both the Hollywood and Orlando versions. A great attraction that hopefully sticks around for another long while.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for explaining this! I had an idea of how it worked but this defines it on a deeper level for different types of rides and attractions. So helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
Very cool.

Goodbye Splash Mountain 😭🌊⛰🐻🦊🐰🪵
It will be fondly remembered
A crime they took it away
One of our favorites!
Just want to say that I spent an entire 2 months soley on this project and all ideas are origianl with no reference or immitation except when doing visual designs I referenced from real life images. I have no idea about the Europa Park reasurant thing until the point Peter Cliff mentioned it, not trying to dib in anything, but just soley to convey a random idea that spang out of my head.
You have to fix your grammar. It doesn't matter how good your project is if you can't even spell or punctuate. When it comes to your project, it's important to say the above to the panelists so they know where you are coming from. Even so, thanks for participating!
@themedattraction lol, I know writing is my weakness. I don't really care, I want to be authentic. Still thanks for the reminder. I was just a bit pissed that I spent 2 months and somehow I felt I was questioned of my authenticity and not enough feedback was given. Might be me being over sensitive. I really wanted to attend the feedback session but couldn't back then.
@@themedattraction And I never say my project is good or anything, didn't care for the reward either.
Awesome ride and movie
