Waiting for my Duellist pedal in the mail, and came to hear Jesse Davey in action. Damn! This track was smokin! On my way to dig up all the Hoax tunes I can find.
Used to love watching the hoax a long time ago,a band from bristol called " The mean blues monsters" used to support em,seen em loads in the north east, does anyone know what became of em ? They were a 3 piece & they were fucking brilliant aswell 🎸🎸👍👍
@@starchild6347 Maybe...if they heard the original...like Stevie Ray did and covered it, Buddy Guy did and covered it, Albert Collins did and covered it, Chuck Berry did and covered it, Pee Wee Crayton did and covered it, The Fabulous Thunderbirds did and covered it etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. A very covered and copied song...at some point you go back and hear the originals.
@@MrStanleyMilton The idea of doing a cover or interpretation of a song is to do it in a unique way and put your own stamp on it…. Just as the artists you mentioned did, These are SRV licks, with different words…. a facsimile. I’ve personally, not got any time for it.
@@starchild6347 The signature riff after the first line of the verses is directly taken from Guitar Slims; Things I use to Do...However you are correct about tons of SRV style licks thrown in as well.
two of the most awesome guitarists ever in one band! i wish these guys would come to the states and tour and put out more music for sale. they are unbelievable! thanks for the post
Going to see the band play tonight in their original line up. Hope this is on the play list! Have you got their new cd yet? I’m not associated with the band in any way, just love their superb music.
I am a an SRV fan. I saw him live 5 times back in the 80's. the Hoax has two amazing guitar players. The one with long hair had sound and move style of SRV. The singer has a great to be to his voice. Here is what turns me off: the bass is too thick and loud. I cannot make out the rhythm of the guitars. The rhythm of the guitars should be forefront, not the bass. If they tone down the bass, I would really really like them.
they are great, just such a shame the guitarist has tried to make him self sound exactly like SRV, soooo many of them do that, its so dull and unoriginal, the whole point of guitar is to make you own sound.
You obviously are a bit closed minded!!!!! These are two of the best guitarists in any band any where! Listen to their cd's they are absolutley original, creative, and ohhhh so bad ass!
Supported them back somewhere in the 90's at the (long gone) Red Lion in Brentford. They sounded absolutely fantastic then, and obviously still do. Thanks for posting. What a guitar tone! We could do with a lot more like that.
Holy fricken cow😮❤
Geweldige band , onbekend maakt onbemind , luister ook maar eens naar supersticious g e w e l d i g
These guys are so badass. What a sound they have and two awesome guitar players and that singer has a great blues voice!!

Yet another SRV track with different words! Ha! Great stuff!
...Actually... Guitar Slim's; "Things I use to Do".
@@MrStanleyMilton For sure…. But the Hoax never would have ‘written’ this song but for the SRV version, right?

That's not only playing like SRV, but even imitating his movements and facial expressions.

WHY is this not the best video on UA-cam?
One of the CD's I've bought and lost (been stolen actually) long ago. On and off I wonder where can it be. This must mean something about this band.

SRV reborn!!! i'd sell my soul for that tone!
Great Fender amp, Jessy's King Tone The Duelist, a fat pickup set, and then turn it up to breakup. You won't be able to do it in your room though :-)
Jesse and Jon! The glory days!!!
great pleasure in listening to this song.........
@winnlamp Nob
