Create some library cards and pockets while I overshare about my life. 😅 #junkjournal #ephemera
Come see my first (nearly completed) junk journal!
Переглядів 149Рік тому
After a brief thrift store haul, I flip through my first ever completed journal. There’s a few more tweaks (how do you know when it’s done?), but I’m pretty pleased so far. Thanks to @LaceCoveredSkies for the inspo! So many of my features in this journal were taken right from her videos. #junkjournal #flipthrough
Vintage photos from an estate sale

Let’s take a look at these vintage photos from the 59’s and 60’s that I purchased at an estate sale. They’ll make excellent ephemera in junk journals.

I found some amazing vintage photos, books, and an autograph book from the 1800’s! Plenty of materials for my junk journals.
Tutorial: Hidden paper clips
Переглядів 62Рік тому
A fully hidden paper clip for those of you who, like me, don’t want the clip to show. Super easy! Materials needed: long-ish scrap of paper, glue, paper clip. Options for embellishing: ribbon, stamps, stickers… Junk journal
Making @LaceCoveredSkies printed book page envelope

Craft Along: Gingham pocket journaling cards
Переглядів 67Рік тому
This craft along went from talking about corner punch tools to my own exploration of identifying as autistic. Who knew it would go there? Listen, I sure didn’t. Junk journals, junk journaling, art journal, journaling card

A teacher’s supply catalog from 1953, itty bitty little golden books, vintage sewing and cooking books, and a load of scrapbook paper and card stock
Jim McBride Agate Pass stoneware and junk journal supply haul.
Переглядів 82Рік тому
I found this incredibly beautiful stoneware and fell in love. Should I sell it? Or try to find the matching pieces to make a whole set? Junk journal supplies include vintage travel lodge post cards and a music book published in 1909! And a glimpse of the vintage, MCM junk journal I’ve been working on.

I’ve come to accept that I may just love the thrift store shopping more than the actual crafting. Junk journal

I got a working one of these at Goodwill for 20 bucks
How nostalgic! Appreciate the time you took to read through some of the ads. Definitely a different time in history. Love the bird field guide; I hope to find a flower field guide someday but I am currently staying away from thrift stores. Like you said, I need to use what is in my stash.😊
A flower field guide is ion my list too. I hope you stumble upon it someday soon!
Beautiful work! Have a happy weekend!
Thankyou!
I absolutely love your journal
Thankyou! I really appreciate you commenting.
I haven’t shown this to anyone in real life so you’re the first to compliment me on it! 😊
I love the picture of the boy with the tropical fish at around 22:10. What a great find.
That image came from the popular mechanic book! There was a whole section on building and keeping aquariums.
@@amberartherapy oh thanks for letting me know! I'm not from the US so sourcing a physical copy would be insanely expensive but I might be able to find a pdf. I'm relatively new to using old books and magazines and so far I have not found anything unique. Aquarium related images would be right up my alley. Again, thanks!
Hi there! My journey into junk journalism is just like yours 😂 You describe it perfectly, “it checked off all the boxes”. I enjoyed your video
Also you did such a great job with Cle Elme that I had to subscribe to your channel! So greetings fron Camano Island, Washington 😊
Thanks for subscribing! 😍
Oh my I think I need some copies of the cookie recipes! The banana spice sounds yummy and it's hard to find the old school recipes. Thanks for sharing your finds!
Hello. Just have to pop in here to say, I grew up with this cookie cook book and still make the ETHELS SUGAR COOKIES and the MOLASSES COOKIES (best recite I’ve ever tasted. Give them a try. Hugs🌸
I love this! Thanks for the suggestion!
I have tons of old black & white photos. They worth anything?
Maybe? I bought these, so someone out there might be interested.
I have had this cookie book for over 40 years and it has fallen apart . I have made many many of the cookies. Before you cut it up, try a few of them.
I’ve had several folks suggest this! I just might
PS my name is Debbie not Vinncent😁
😂 Hi Debbie/not Vincent!
Betty Crocker pictures are so wonderful !
How wonderful that you gave all these photographs "life" again. Because these were at an estate sale, perhaps all family has passed with no one to keep the pictures, yet you have placed them online, where they will "live" and show others what life was like for these people in the past. Moments in time. And who knows, you may have made it possible for someone to connect with someone in these photos. This is poignant for me as I am the "keeper of the family pictures" and wonder where they will end up when I am gone. I hope someone like you finds them.....
Do any of these have writing on the back
Very few. Some have dates, but no names.
Very few do. Some have dates written
Cool stuff you acquired!!!💜💜💜
Just found your channel; love lacecoveredskies too! I had not seen the little pill shaped tags until now. I was just thinking how to make them until you shared the steps. So simple once you know the secret. 😉 Thanks so much for sharing! Just subscribed 😊
Right?! I felt a bit silly when I saw her using the corner punch after spending so much time looking for a die cut. Lol.
Love the super clear closeups!🤩
Thanks for the feedback. Im glad to know that the close up is better.
Great score! It will be interesting to see how you use your finds.
McCalls still popular
Oh! Lol. I wasn’t being clear. McCall’s I am familiar with but I had never heard of Marlo’s corner. I wonder if it’s referring to Marlo Thomas?
I see Little Little Golden Books.
Ok I'm not envious at all 😂. The 'ding' was a great sounding ding too.
It was an amazing find!
I remember having the full set of the little golden book dictionaries. Great little haul. My favourite is the typewriter, what a beauty!
Omy gosh, not only the Baby Sitters Club but Sweet Valley High..... Loved the woodland diary. I think you held your breath going through the 70s cook book 😂.
SWEET VALLEY HIGH! Omg, now I have to start looking for those too!
80s fashion, like it's music totally rocks. You showed a crocheted swimsuit in a previous vid, I had one of those 🙊😂😂. Ding Dong School lol.
A crocheted swimsuit, in my head, feels the same as swimming with a sweater on. I'm sure it isn't, but... I can't. lol
What a great idea using an existing envelope as a template. With so many shapes & sized envelopes, you can make one to fit it any tuck spot etc. Oh your friend sounds admirable with her career journey.
Right! Whenever I find uniquely shaped envelopes, I try to save one so that I can make it into a template.
You're so talented, the journal looks so cool. So arty ❤. I'm new to your channel and I'm binge watching lol.
Oh wow! Thank you! I hope it's been entertaining!
You can never have enough vintage childrens books lol (though I'm fussy about how the books are illustrated). Amazing you found the crocodile corner punch. Such a find. Oh my I remember the flannel graph stories at Sunday School. How nostalgic. I really enjoy your narration when you show your finds xx.
It’s a great tool. I had no idea!
I just love your haul. I remember watching the movie Herbie goes bananas lol. Mind you watching Knight Rider was a step up in my teen years.
Knight Rider!! Yes!!!
I have the same one on the way I'm so excited🎉
Do you love it?!
❤ TFS. I think that's drawer liner, use box for scraps/strips of cut-off papers. Nice find!
Oooh! Right!! And great idea. ❤
OMG the little Peter Rabbit book- the first illustration of the watering can and all you can see of him is his little ears!
🥹🥹🥹 so cute!
What a fantastic bunch of finds! The little playing cards are so cute- love the pocket they are in.
That little leather pouch is so neat. Would you use it in a journal? It’s bulky. But it’s full of personality.
Awesome Typewriter, great score for sure.😊
I think so too!
Awesome Haul Amber, My new favourite catchphrase { "@#$% With It!! }🤣🤣😂 You will be blown away by how many JJ peeps are very religious. I try not to hold it against them haha. Also FYI that Atlas book is Copywrite 1955, It's in Roman Numerals in the front of the book. Thanks for sharing, I've nearly watched all your vids, Yuss go me. 😊🥰
Thanks! I appreciate your comment and your help understanding Roman Numerals (!!!). There does seem to be a church to junk journal crafting pipeline, so I'm not surprised to hear your observation. Well, we'll be the bad kids at the youth group event together.
Wow! Amber what an epic score that was. I'm so jealous lol. FAB finds. Just found your Channel and have subscribed. Now to watch all your other hauls. My Favourite vids to watch and film. Thanks for sharing, welcome to the world of JJ and Thrifting addiction🤣😂🤣. 😊🥰 Jo.
Thanks for watching! Yup, I'm definitely addicted to the shopping and hunting. Hopefully I'll move on to actually creating.
That's a beautiful machine you've got there! I have a collection of typewriters, but I have never seen typewriters like this one before! Great find! Happy typing! 😃👍
Thanks! I can’t believe someone gave it to me for free! Very happy find.
@@amberartherapy Yeah, me neither! Oh, and a quick side note: If I'm not to be mistaken, the key with an arrow on that's pointing to the right, right under the "1" key and left to the "Q" key should be the backspace key. Unfortunately, it won't remove the letter from the paper, but it will move the carriage back if it is a backspace key. Hope this helped! 🤗
@@classicalsheetmusic1986thanks for the tip!
@@amberartherapy You're welcome :)
I appreciate your honesty around religion. I am also a non believer and am open about that. As a scientist I find it hard to follow something without evidence to support the theories 🥰
Girl, same. It was not an easy decision to leave the church, but the dissonance I felt was so uncomfortable that it was really the only way to go. It was a painful process of “leaving the cult,” but I’m very proud of the courage I had to do so. I’m glad we connected about this. Thanks for commenting.
Hi Amber! Welcome to the Junk Journaling Community on UA-cam! I hope you find, as I have, that other creators are very encouraging and supportive. Such fun finds!
Love the fashion magazines and older Golden Books!
Thank you!! I am so charmed by how supportive and friendly this crafting community is. 🥰🥰
I totally get this. I was thrilled to find a vintage blue typewriter from the 70’s originally sold at Kmart and drove 40 minutes each way to pick it up. Used it again just the other day on the red setting to type a label for a junk journal. Congrats on scoring one for free!
Yaaay! I’m looking forward to finding all sorts of uses for it.
Hi Amber! Welcome to our YT junk journal lover community. Enjoying your haul! Wonderful finds! Love the fashion magazine and children's books. TFS Cara
Thankyou for the welcome!
