I promoted some units due to the threat of a game over if I let too many enemies escape… but things turned out really good and I got a bit confident. Then we get a Gaiden chapter… “So the wyrmsbane is required for the Gaiden huh, I guess there’s a dragon boss but the rest should be simple enough”. Then I read the chapter’s intro and the map is revealed… 😱
And I picked a bad time to get distracted and made some blunders. But this is ironman so we have to keep going no matter what 😢.

A different objective than usual, eh? Interesting. There’s lots of reinforcements on this map. The difficulty is rising again. The last time I said something like this in the previous game, I got a game over on the next chapter. Is the end coming soon? 😱 The desert made it difficult to distribute our forces at the start. Despite losing a few units and one of the treasures, the team is still not doing too bad and some units continue getting stronger.

Things have been going well after the first 2 chapters. We’ve been getting a varied roster with some useful weapons for dealing effective damage. I could’ve brought a thief to steal a stat booster but I forgot 😆.

These chapters were more fun. Looks like the overview specifies when the reinforcements are particularly strong and/or keep coming, so I didn’t have much to worry about when they appeared.

On the previous game, it took about 4-6 chapters to start losing units and feel the pressure of op reinforcements. This happened immediately here. 2 chapters and I’ve already lost 2 units. At least there’re clear indicators of when and where the reinforcements will appear. Still, I don’t like this push for fast gameplay, but I understand it can make for a more interesting challenge for veterans...

The majority predicted correctly on the poll 👀. With all units being generics, it can be easy to forget that one has the role of “lord” and if he’s defeated… I remembered reading somewhere that if the commander died, the game would pick up someone else for the role. Although I have more tools at my disposal now, the difficulty is slowly but steadily increasing again. Also, I’m running out of vulneraries. It may be time to start bringing two healers like I usually do in these games.

I made some blunders here. Didn’t bother adjusting the initial formation of the party and only noticed they’re separated when the battle started. And I accidentally ended a turn before moving all units. The chapter must be cleared within a turn limit… Is this the end? 😱

Warp and Rescue saved me some trouble on the lategame maps 😆. Much like I went back to FE11 to beat H3 after H1, I’m satisfied in having beaten FE12 Maniac after my initial run on Hard. If I ever do themed runs, I’ll go back to the easier difficulties.
