Daddy Daughter Fishing Day!
Переглядів 235Місяць тому
One of my most enjoyable days of fishing in a while, even though I didn't land any fish. My 18 year old daughter, who hasn't gone fishing since she was 10 or 11, told me she wanted to get back into fishing. So of course I ran right out and got her a new spinning combo and put together a tackle bag with some essentials. This was our first outing together, and she completely outfished me. She's a...

1 mile hump? ONE MILE HUMP? With a yak? They'd find my frozen dead carcass about a 1/4 mile in. Nice video
Yeah, it sucks making that walk, but usually it’s more worth it than it was that day. Thanks man.
Awesome bro love the video today I’m so happy to see that you were able to get one more day on the water! Nice catches, oof the foot it’s going to get a little chilly you need those waterproof heated socks brother! Thanks for sharing your day tight lines take care and God bless! It’s great to see you expanding your rod techniques always giving those bass a different type of presentation!
Thanks for the kind word. I’m ready for spring already.
I guessed right on the bait. Oh yeah, is it spring yet?
@@mattcollinsfishingI figured there wouldn’t be much mystery for the people I fish with. And yeah, I’m not ready for everything to ice over. So depressing.
Not gonna lie, it was almost as painful watching the video as it was watching it happen in person. NIce work!
Thanks man! Great seeing you out there.
Hopefully some day I can make it out with y'all, nice carp, in the mouth is rare, usually in the side of the head or belly for me. Always enjoy the vids!
Thanks bud! You should definitely come out for a winter session. We’ll keep you posted next time we go out.
Matt thanks for sharing what a great day on the water with a bunch of great guys and organization. The fall jerkbait did not let you down caught you some multi-species today. It’s truly a beautiful lake what is the biggest bass that got caught out of this water? Tight lines take care and God bless.
Thanks man! I’m not sure what the biggest bass record is for Pueblo, but last season one of our guys got a 20” smallmouth during the tournament. There are also some really big wipers.
Great day on the water, thanks for sharing 😎🤙🔥💪🎣
@@Flippencz thanks man, glad you enjoyed it!
Great video thanks. Curious, do you haul your kayak with the fish finder mounted or do you remove it while en route.
Thanks! I take the fish finder off in transport. Just the transducer stays on.
@ thanks
Fished it too. Great video brother. Looking forward to do this event again next year. Just wanted to say hello from Minnesota. Tight lines!
Thanks man! Can’t wait to go back. Hope to see you there!
Great video! Just found your channel and subscribed. I have the same kayak as you I think. Native slayer max 12.5 but gray. I love it. Just added an NK180 motor to it.
Thanks! Yeah, mine is also a Slayer Max 12.5. I really want to get an NK180 too. Right now I just have a modified trolling motor, but it works fine for making long runs.
Fun watch, looked awesome even if it was a dinkfest.
@@corydoyle4819 thanks bud. Yeah, it was a great trip. Super cool lake. Can’t wait to go back.
2024 season has come to an end and Matt thank you so much for taking us on this journey it was so much fun! What a grind of a year can’t wait to see what all you do next year! Tight lines take care and God bless!
@@granvillej3316 thanks man, looking forward to next year already!
Great video my friend! Had a blast on this trip and can’t wait to get back! That was by far my favorite tournament to fish. Go Eco Fishing Shop!
@@mattcollinsfishing hell yeah man, that was my favorite trip too. Get back to editing, I need to see your footage!
It looked like you were fishing about 3 to 5 feet deep. Is that about right?
Yup, that’s exactly right.
idk about this spin rod nonsense in texas...:)
I felt dirty using it there, but it worked!
If only they could get some rain! Place is so cool when the logs are floating...been a few years now.
Yeah, the water was definitely lower than the last few times I was there. Love that place.
@@mattflanjrfishing I was watching your video to see water levels. When was this?

Gotta get her on a yak dude!!! Welcome to borrow mine anytime if she wants to go out!

Glad to see you fish with your daughter cool!
Must be in the genes...great job Norah!
Clearly she had a great teacher.
Awesome! Get that girl in a kayak!
🤫
Father and daughter fishing videos make the best memories Matt thanks for sharing! God bless!
What a great day., Did the same thing at Horsetooth a couple weeks ago towing my daughter on her SUP behind be in my kayak. This is the best part of fishing, when you can share it with family.
@@The_Mudfoot thanks man! I’ve towed my wife and daughters behind the kayak too. Fun stuff.
I got my qualifier event Saturday, top 24 anglers in Ohio, gonna be a shoot out!
@@MrFishingOhio nice, good luck man!
#footlock Great video man!
Thanks bud!
Thank you Matt as always for another great day on the water it was a grind for sure, but you did it and hit some milestones to end the year. I really enjoyed watching your journey I observed and learned a lot from your videos and appreciate the content! Thank you Matt for allowing me to come along and watch you through your highs and lows and can’t edit to see what you do next year and hopefully I see you in the water this time! Tight lines take care and God bless!
Thanks as always for the comments! Hope to see you out there one day.
Matt, enjoyed this very much! Living vicariously out here in NV.
Thanks man, great to hear from you!
I could feel the frustration from you and a lot of other anglers through the scoreboard that day. So many 12-13.5 fish submitted.
Yeah man, it was tough. I only stuck a couple in practice in Denver cove, but they were over 15” so I was excited to have the place to myself on gameday. Oh well. Thanks for judging!
My legs are not long enough for that new spot lock. lol great video as always Matt
Ha! Thanks man, great season.
You sure tried! Caught a bunch of dinks! I know the bite died once the wind came up in the afternoon.
Yeah, I wasted the morning bite catching dinks. Great job bud!
I could feel the frustration with all the dinks...what was the winning total inches? Good video...I didn't miss the "turn on go pro."
@@MatthewFlanagan-u3i 80.50” to win. 74.75” was third. I was fairly confident after practice, but it just didn’t go my way.
Jus had ours in AZ subbed
@@BubbaBass thanks!
Excelent, buddy! Thank you for sharing this! Cheers from Brazil!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice fish! It was a striper
Hope you find the right technique(s).
Congratulations on a good tournament and great video. Nice video action on that crazy catch. I'm guessing you're looking into cutting down on those "gotaways.'
Yeah, I need to work on setting the hook more aggressively when I feel a bite. A lot of times I just lean into it, which clearly isn’t cutting it.
Good video but man you lost some nice fish on both days purely because you didn’t set the hook hard enough, the way you set the hook on the frog bite is the way you should always do it
Yeah, I’m trying to work on that.
Nice bunch of fish. I’m hoping to join the club this winter and start the tournament series for next year. Love your videos. They’ve made me want to join.
That’s awesome to hear! You can’t go wrong with either of the local clubs. CKFC is great if you also like doing other species besides bass, and CKB is great if you like to travel a few hours outside of Colorado a few times a year. Feel free to hit me up if you have questions about either club or tournaments in general.
Another great video man! Keep it up!
Appreciate it!
Alright Matt a great day on the water for your day 1 event. You lost some possible big ones but grinded through and accomplish your goal! Thanks for sharing can’t wait to see day 2 results sir! Tight lines take care and God bless!
Thanks as always man! I appreciate your comments.
Solid first day 👊😎 ive always wanted to fish this lake hopefully kansas kayak anglers will host an event there someday!
It’s an awesome lake, you really should try to get there.
Great video, nice first day. Wish there was a way to cut down on those "gotaways."
It’s something about the fish in that lake. A lot of guys had issues losing fish, so it wasn’t just me. They like to jump for sure.
Schoens Cove?
Yup
@@mattflanjrfishing my favorite spot on that lake! Pulled a 20.5" out of there last spring while crappie fishing.
Every video i see makes me want to go back there again. Can't wait for day 2!
I know what you mean. Just editing my footage made me want to go back already.
Matt, what lake was that? Love the content…just got my Wilderness Systems Recon 120HD, look forward to seeing you out on the lakes.
3 good ones and a near-giant…pretty impressive. Good tuneup for Kansas.
For sure. Any smallmouth over 18” is pretty special. Can’t wait for Kansas.
Great video I’m gonna have to try a buzz bait out on that lake
Matt those were some really pretty fish you caught thanks for sharing this fun time on the water and God go with you on your journey to Kansas have an awesome trip and positive vibes send to you in this next tournament brother! Tight lines take care and God bless!
Thanks man, can’t wait for Kansas.
Another great video! yeah... the boats on Chatfield are probably the only thing I hate about the lake but I do like that half of it is wakeless!
Thanks bud. I do like the wakeless aspect, I just haven’t put in enough time on that lake to know where the good ones are.
Hey Matt you want to be more clear how music that loud that you can hear from across the lake is “ever” good LOL! Thanks for sharing you’re day on the lake I’m scout a block away from Chatfield that is lake you end up grinding to the end to get any sizable bass out of looked like one really good one though, but all dinks! Look forward to the tournament video! Tight lines take care and God bless!
Ha, thanks man!
