He didnt say the power dont come from your legs etc.. he was just talking about the upper body and he's right! If u use the lats and serratus (aka boxers muscle) u get a good solid connection from ur legs, core and whole bodyweight. If u dont engage these muscles u can leak power and end up just hitting with the pecs and arms. Natural fighters will do this without thinking or even knowing about it. Others need to learn this connection. But each to their own.

just some critical observation, take it or leave it: the hand and face placement is perfect, but the second step is way to slow. he's got to drive his feet on contact.

Its pushin more poppush then punch anyhow you can't properly punch without entire body and practicing poorly not only develops poor techinique and application but bad muscle memory form n habit do once practiced poorly its very very difficult to correct it so bend down legs in a z practice properly using whole body starting in heels and footballs and toes do not practice poor ghetto techniques like this or doomed to poor performance forever!!

Pushing punch..you need to snap your punches from the ground up to core rotation..tyson had bigger legs than his upper body, Tito Trinidad had thicker legs than his torso and manny has huge calfs. The back and shoulders play a 20% part but 80% is legs to core in power punching.

Correct but step through the opponents base or gravity well is mass x kinetic force = payload. Then impact force is payload - the mass density and gravity/balance of the opponent. shock waves are redirected through muscle group and channeled through the legs and into the floor for example walking if an opponent is off balance then he will absorb the force if he moves with the force like jumps back then he is redirecting the force. I think the reference is kinetic chain for a strike and center of gravity is the opponents resistance. Well its a little technical but that's physics.

after hitting the heavy bag my lats are very sore the next day, but more from pulling in my opposite arm while extending the striking arm, helping generate rotational force and transfering weight. i see how lats can help your punches !

The backer is moving laterally to the ball. You have to get your head across and drive through the back shoulder, otherwise he'll wipe your hands so fast your head will spin.

a strong punch comes from a number of elements, not just the lat's and back. Every muscle being trained will add power to your punch, pushup's are excellent. There's two elements speed and power. Working out will strengthen your power and proper punching technique will maximize the speed of your punch. the distance and position of your feet along with flowing hip movements is key for generating high speeds. Train your wrists well, this is where the explosion happens & needs to be strong

First of all, it's a block, not a tackle. Second, you're supposed to make contact with your hands and forehead at about the same time (maybe the hands a little bit earlier). It's only dangerous if his head is down. The head must be kept up upon contact and your eyes must always see what you're hitting.
