Great video and it is really great that the devs preserve the game by making in solo/coop. They could have let it die like wildstar or any other mmo that did fail but they made the effort to turn it around.

Having completed the entirety of the core campaign (up to this point), I think the core story of Wayfinder definitely works, and most everything they say does make sense as long as you're paying attention. Early lore dumps are a necessary evil, as they set the groundwork and rules for the setting. Even then, we still don't know all the rules, but we know enough to explain certain gameplay conventions, like the procedurally-generated dungeon expeditions and why you can respawn if you fall. A lot of the characters around you have their own story arcs, much of the time playing out in side quests, and the PCs themselves - incomplete echoes of the Gloom-fallen heroes they once were in life held together by sheer force of will more than anything - have their own arc by finding their own memories and piecing themselves back together. Ultimately, with all this combined with the art and audio and presentation, to say nothing of the gameplay, it's clear Airship Syndicate refused to let all this work go to waste, hence the herculean effort to hard pivot the game they way they did from a pseudo-MMO (knockoff Warframe, at that) to the singleplayer-with-co-op ARPG like Remnant: From the Ashes. And we're STILL in the middle of Early Access, so there's a lot to go. The developers have already promised matchmaking (so you can play co-op with randoms), at least one additional map and at least one additional Wayfinder before the 1.0 launch.

Crypt Custodian is made by the same guy who made Islets and Sheepo which are both Metroidvanias. Might be worth a look for you. In addition I recommend checking out Afterimage and Astalon: Tears of the Earth if you get a chance. Two more interesting metroidvanias though Astalon is more of an original Castlevania type deal than the post Symphony of the Night ones.

It would be nice to have game title at the beginning of each trailer.

That music is pretty darn catchy! Game looks like a heap of fun, i really like the look of using enemies as a way to go faster or just add on as an extra jump, really looks satisifing!

Love to see people talking about Iconoclasts! It's such a banger of a game! Easily was my game of 2018! The characters were so freaking good! Royal was I'd say my favorite, he comes across as an annoyance but in that final mission when you go to the moon and the way he's aware that people have never been fond of him but he trys to be better! Completely shifted my perspective on him! This game made me feel smart with taking down certain enemies and puzzles like yourself! Remember you could use the stun gun for a bit of an extra jump, when I figured out that it explained so many places I couldn't reach! Loved the video bud!

Great video!

If you want another that isn't talked about a lot there is one called Souldiers. Don't let that mixed score on steam fool you only around 1,200 reviews and the game launched broken and unfair in difficulty but now that the bugs have been fixed? It's a pretty good Metroidvania. Also the difficulty was fixed and if you want the difficulty it launched with its there and called Master. Keep in mind there are still some bugs that can happen that or some recent reviews couldn't figure out how to progress but it is really charming. The only other complaints is that it overstays its welcome and is long for the genre. And yeah I can see it being difficult to play all the way through because the dungeons kinda do.

it's weird. this is a well put together, mechanically satisfying game, that as a whole did nothing for me. it wants to be an rpg so bad which doesn't work with the metroidvania structure at all and the visuals aren in stark contrast to the tone it's going for. by the endgame i just wanted to be done with it and was skipping the cutscenes entirely

I played Iconoclasts years ago, and while it's a solid game, it really suffers from having way, way too much badly written dialogue. This is a very common sin in video games, but Iconoclasts is one of the worst offenders. I ultimately dropped it. Also: H.P. Lovecraft would have been a Draven or Shaco player. O__o

I love indie, rpgs and retro games. A game I think more people need to play is Astalon Tears of the Earth, also Ys and especially La Mulana, would you ever do a LP of either Iconoclasts, or Astalon? Games I'm looking forward to are: Rune Fencer ILLyria, Beyond Shadowgate, Sheep lad and Hazelnut Bastille, there's more but I stop there. Keep up the good work and you got yourself a like and sub.
