For Ellen | My Life with Muscular Dystrophy
This video was hard to make and probably is hard to watch, but it was made by request. I have facioscapulohumeral (FSH) muscular dystrophy. As a result, I'm in a wheelchair and have a tracheostomy and am on a ventilator.
*WARNING* There was a woopsy while filming and my lady parts were exposed. I am a very amateur editor so I did my best to cut or conceal those parts, so if you see anything, it's just a shadow!

    Hi Katheryn how are you? I saw your tweet the 22 or 23 October 2020 so I just thought I'd say hi as we haven't heard much from you but it's very understandable. I hope you are keeping as well as possible and also your husband. If we don't have enough to put up with indoors we are still struggling outdoors with the dreaded Corona virus and the less said about that the better. I am so old fashioned I keep hoping for a really freezing winter to 'kill all the germs.' How pathetic is that! Good bye for now and it was lovely to see your tweet! Best wishes from the UK.

    Thank you for your input and candor. Even my scoliosis and juvenile arthritis isn’t enough of an excuse for the difficulty I’ve placed myself in. Yes, I have a few things that I was genetically born with and hinder me, but I made it worse with my own diet and lack of ambition after pregnancy. Amberlynn may be an example of where not to go, but I believe that you are an example of how strong people can be _despite_ everything that could be stacked against them.

    Do you have any Native American heritage? If so, which tribe? I’m 1/16 Cherokee. Practically everyone in the Southeast is some variation of Scots-Irish, German, and Cherokee. I’m all of those plus Israeli and just a touch of French. What’s your ancestral background? It must be vastly different from mine since you live as far away from me as you possibly could and still be inside the continental U.S.

      Katheryn Saunders The Deep South? Where? I live in the Mid South. I’ve always liked the Norwegians. I’ve been to Norwegian museums and villages in Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin because my ex-husband’s father was a first-generation American raised by two Norwegians. He was raised in Worth County, Iowa, right on the border of Minnesota. I was amazed at just how different that part of the country is. I felt like I was not even in the U.S.

    Oh, my sweet friend. Just reading the title of this video breaks my heart. I’m glad you’re seeing a therapist. That will help. Do you have a psychiatrist? You could use some anxiety medication - and possibly something for depression. The news about the custom wheelchair is great! Can’t they just use an oil can to lubricate your joints so that you have more mobility? (Sorry. That’s a bad Wizard of Oz joke. 😁) Maybe you could be a phone sex operator? Nah? 😁 I can relate to your experience of people thinking they know how to help you. I suffer from med-resistant depression, and my mother’s all, “Take a walk.” Truth: It’s a huge accomplishment when I have the nerve to step outside. I’m constantly breaking plans, which just kills me, especially since I’m an extrovert. Like you, I so very badly want to lead a normal life. I miss my old life. I really contributed to society with my job and volunteer work and political activism and Junior League work. I dedicated my life to helping others. And now I’m useless. I’ve tried three times to commit suicide in the last two years. I like your snake joke. And I am a big fan of Black Adder! I wish you could take a vacation of the mind, like a good illegal drug, just for a bit of escapism. I’ve thought about ‘shrooms. Every now and then, someone will give me a joint. It helps pass the time and distracts me for a little while. Do you know about the subreddit r/amberlynn? Lots of laughs there. It sure was good to hear from you. Take care, Kat. 😘😘😘

    As I think about it, I’m not sure cow sewage water would have made that corn unfit to eat for humans. I learned how to farm (lightly) from my granddaddy who grew up on a farm in the ‘20s and ‘30s, and we regularly used cow manure in the field to grow our beans, tomatoes, okra, etc. I think it’s just human manure that makes us sick. I may be totally off base, but I don’t remember e. coli being a thing until we had heard about Mexicans pooping in the fields of lettuce or spinach and the recalls that followed.

    • @gr8kat1
      @gr8kat1 5 років тому

      We get E. coli from cattle manure, too. That's why hamburger needs to be cooked thoroughly, no pink (slaughterhouses are filthy). I remember when Odwalla fruit juice was recalled for E. coli because it was unpasteurized (pasteurization destroys vitamins, y'know) and the fruit had come from an orchard where cattle were allowed to graze and fruit was picked up off the ground for use in the juice. Check out this info about E. coli www.healthlinkbc.ca/health-topics/hw133795

    • @gr8kat1

      Evolution. When livestock are crammed into filthy, dangerous factory farms, they are loaded with antibiotics to prevent disease, but what it really does is kill off the weaker bacteria that were just hanging out in the guts minding their own business, allowing antibiotic-resistant bacteria to thrive, and bacteria multiply and mutate very quickly. "E. coli O157:H7 was first recognized as a foodborne pathogen in 1982 during an investigation into an outbreak of hemorrhagic colitis (bloody diarrhea) associated with consumption of contaminated hamburgers (Riley, et al., 1983). The following year, Shiga toxin (Stx), produced by the then little-known E. coli O157:H7, was identified as the real culprit." www.marlerblog.com/e-coli-information/e-coli-bacteria-what-are-they-where-did-they-come-from-and-why-are-some-so-dangerous/

    Do they have to knock you out for a trach change?

    • @gr8kat1
      @gr8kat1 5 років тому

      Yup. Trach changes are very painful for me and not being able to breathe while the trach is out sends me into a panic. I usually get Propofol with a little fentanyl or lidocaine because Propofol BURNS the whole way from my IV (usually in the back of my han) to my brain.

    • @JPMJPM
      @JPMJPM 5 років тому

      Katheryn Saunders Yikes. Remind me to never get Propofol.

    Hey! I was just thinking about you yesterday when I was watching a movie on Netflix called, The Fundamentals of Caring. Have you seen it? It’s about a boy with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy who (with Paul Rudd) goes on an adventure. It’s really funny and heartwarming.

    • @gr8kat1
      @gr8kat1 5 років тому

      I'll look into it, thanks for the recommendation! Duchenne's is one of the cruelest forms of MD I know of. 😢

    Are you a good candidate for lasik eye surgery? I had it 20 years ago, and it left me with perfect vision. (I had had 20/800 vision and was very close to being declared legally blind.) Only now am I starting to become near-sighted again. I have loved not wearing glasses. I had been wearing them since I was 4 years old.

    • @gr8kat1

      Sadly no, surgically removing the scar tissue would trigger my immune system to make more scar tissue. My immune system thinks my eyes are the enemy so all I can do is take immunosuppressive drugs.

  • @JPMJPM
    @JPMJPM 5 років тому

    Do you take immunosuppressants? If not and you want to strengthen your immune system, I’ve had friends whose bodies have been under attack from various diseases - they swear by a dose of elderberry syrup every day. I just ordered some from Amazon because I have several autoimmune diseases. I ordered the Sambucol brand. I hope that is a good brand. ♥️♥️♥️

      I don't want to strengthen my immune system, that's be giving the enemy more ammo. Yes, I'm on immunosuppressives so that hopefully we can save my eyesight.

    Omg Al doesnt have B.E.D...its self diagnosed and there is medications for it.. and why not go to therapy to deal with it? Because shes a narcissist and they have to have total control and dont like the truth. ..you dont plan a binge and the psychiatrist or psychologist can give you tools to cope..she went to the E.R because she didnt want to go to the doc in the box down the street where she had to stand or have people stare at her so she picked E.R late night .. it's all strategic planning because shes a covert narcissist with possible complex b issues and why should we believe a narcissistic pathological liar liarlynn when she says her A1C is just fine...maybe she cut back on junk preparing for the ER . Al is going to have more UTI's,because shes so large how can she possibly clean herself...she cant reach her butt so you know shes wiping back to front...not front to back...I'm shocked they could find a vein because of all the fat....I have kidney failure and only one kidney...

    Yes new flooring we are having to redo my husbands room he has a hospital bed and I cant roll the hoya in there well..we think we are going with hardwood because tile can crack or the hoya wheel could bump in the grout.. You have a right to your thoughts and beliefs...i say all will be answered when we die...no one so far hasnt come back after buried...i remain cautiously optimistic on this...and bad things happen to good people and babies..what sin could a baby commit ....dont get me started...

    Most people who do keto and myself included keep carbs under 45 for the day...I keep my carbs around 30 or under a day... I lost 148 pounds most in one year . I've kept it off 5 years....no one on keto go near a potato..just sayin... you can have bacon but not a tater...you dont go into ketosis eating a potato as big as your head..again al thinking she thinks she knows better and is not going to follow a diet the way it's designed. .she is full of caca thinking you hit ketosis what the bull hockie is she spewing?.my blood sugar never fell below 65 to 70 and I felt fine.....again she is shoveling it in barely chewing ..no one on keto eats that much ..she is incapable of change ..they have medication for binge eating disorder...but being self diagnosed i guess she cant prescribe it for herself...
