Devastator Thread
Переглядів 5304 роки тому
In this transnational thread I combine Judo, Jiu-Jitsu and Wrestling to overwhelm my opponent. This is a great tactic but requires much discipline. Exploring individuals arts is a good thing, combining them effortlessly is something else! Gi: www.ShoyoRoll.com
The Sticky Foot Thread
Переглядів 5494 роки тому
The Sticky Foot is an easy way to control an opponent’s base while standing. In this short lesson I quickly give you some of my favorite options from the Sticky Foot series. The reason this technique is so effective is it doesn’t over extend your positioning giving your opponent an option to counter. On the contrary if it fails you lose next to nothing in the session and can quickly recover to ...
Stumble Throw

Transition is the key to unlocking a new level of fighting. It is the most profound ally when considering the ability to stay ahead of the curve. Creating what we call threads are essential in increasing not only your transitional ability but also your overall speeds. This is a must for elite level grapplers and fighters!

Ruotolo Brothers
Переглядів 8 тис.11 років тому
I had the privilege of teaching a private lesson to the Ruotolo Brothers. It was especially fun for me because my brother and I grew up with Martial Arts. I had an obvious connection to these fine young grapplers. I also really loved how they were so eager to learn. And that eagerness is only out-shined by their honor and respect on the mat. as per request we worked some Judo set-ups that reall...
Machine Gun Submissions!
Переглядів 21 тис.11 років тому
There are many facets to developing your ability to finish. Here I focus on my favorite, MACHINE GUN SUBMISSIONS! Overwhelming your opponent with attacks is a great way to get them to tap. This philosophy can also be used in life. This is a 'no nonsense', 'never take no for an answer' approach to Grappling. Take this method and run with it until you submit everyone in your academy! DC

If attacked on the street you must be mentally prepared! Regardless of the variables keeping a clear mind will save your life. Your mind is your most powerful ally and you must use it to survive a dangerous encounter. Here I talk about variables involved in an attack and how to control them.

Demos like this are a bit dumb since no beginner is going to know what the hell is going on in that positional stuff at the end.

Someone a while back asked why the knees are not squeezed together to avoid losing the arm bar. I was wondering the same thing. Being able to transition from one thing to another is awesome, but I would think that performing the submission in a manner which mitigates the defense would be the first choice. Love to see a comment from Dave on this. Great video!

Wow, thanks for the insight Dave Camarillo! I've been chaining my subs for awhile, but the transitions you came up with are brilliant. I've been to your brother's gym in Bakersfield. He wasn't there, but it's a wonderful facility and everyone was very nice, as well as skilled.

I'm in no way related to them and I live on another continent. They're growing more famous in the BJJ scene due to their high skill level at such a young age. They should be an inspiration to other kids and grown ups who give up on the idea that BJJ is too hard for them. Look up other videos on youtube and don't even pretend not to be impressed.

No doubt, Dave is one of the best bjj coaches out there and I'm a huge fan of his, but I always notice that Dave doesn't always squeeze his knees together when he does armbars but in class we were taught that it's a bad habit. Yet it's Dave Camarillo, and he's the armbar king!!! Is there a reason why he does armbars this way?
