How big does a blade have to be before it's not a knife? 🤔

Beautiful knives brother. You folks have a wonderful week brother.🙏🏻🙏🏻
Sweet looking knives. Yeah comparing them to each other is like comparing apples to oranges lol.
All day long for that price 😎
Nice knife 👌
I never got my hands on one of those, but I like the pattern alot. Great looking piece, buddy!
It was good to hear your thoughts on this👍Great video, buddy!
The differences I see between these three knife makers are vastly different. Case has a large presents in Brick and Mortar sales that either the two others has little chance to surpass. GEC is a simple replacement on a small scale of what occurred from Queen going bankrupt. It is easy to see from the history of GEC and the knife patterns that they produce. Rose Craft is nothing more than a spinoff of the SMKW Rough Rider series. In addition, and likely produced in the same factory in China. The designs have more choices of knives and use precision manufacturing processes. You can buy high quality Case knives however; they cost more than ones Walmart sells. Case knives are picked on however; it always seems, it is from a knife channel that has sponsors that push and review China made knives.🤔😆🤣👍
Hey, brother. That’s a great looking knife. I think I would prefer a cosmetic issue over a functional issue. That said, it doesn’t seem too bad. Hopefully it stays tight over time. Have a great evening!
I have heard Andy say that certain bone covers will be going away, but maybe to return. Personally, I'd love to see another iteration of this pattern. It totes around really well.
7:38 It's a problem and a benefit. GEC knives will hold their value over time. Knives made in China won't.
@jackasswhiskyandpintobeans9344 There's no guarantee they will, at least in our lifetime. Remember, they are just knives. Steel and bone. Not precious metals or stones. They are not custom knives. Not one of a kind. And very few people actually collect them. The maker sells them in the $120 range. That should tell you a little about their value. 😁
@@rasputinscastle You are correct about the guarantee. Nothing is guaranteed. It's more credit to Bill Howard that he doesn't milk the market and raise his prices. I think Howard just likes making knives.
@@rasputinscastle Custom knives depends on the definition of custom knives. From reading comments on knife making GEC is about as close as you can get to a custom knife maker who does not produce one knife. Early on GEC was making 15 knives in a pattern.
@@rasputinscastle Very few people currently collect, but my feeling is that is changing. I'm not good at short term predictions of markets (1-5 years) but have a knack for long term markets (10-15 years). I've seen a lot of nonwhite people talk about knives and women. Women are the key. Time will tell.
It's made in China!
I don't own a GCE because of the scalpers and i probably never will because im not paying more than It cost. But they are good knives. What's aggravating is that the scalpers doesn't even want the knife they just won't to hold them hostage where if you want it you will pay more they are like leeches on the backs of knife companies I would love it if people would up and say no more and stop buying from the scalpers and then these people would stop when they lose money and there's no profit in it anymore. But the fan boys are not gonna give it up so people will always pay too much. And get taken advantage of but if a person has more money than they know what to do with i guess it doesn't matter.. Thanks for sharing brother 🤙
I do understand what you wrote, but knife "scalpers," are people just trying to make some money.
I was buying GEC when I was poor. I couldn't buy everything or barley anything. GEC knives sold very slowly. This was in or about 2009. It's odd I have some GEC knives from that early period that have issues. GEC knives would stay on seller's web pages for long time without selling.
Bill Howard is the man who formed GEC, but he did work a Queen. There are ways to get GEC quality without paying an arm and a leg.

@@rasputinscastle so true 🤙
One of my favorite knives

That one looks great!!!
I like all of these Companies. Soul or no Soul.
@@danieltporter959 And there you go. We're knife addicts. 🙂😃😄😁
Great flow to passing along the information to us, appreciate it.
@MountainAjar You're welcome, my friend. Hurry while they last.
I got the bow trapper, just had to have that skull shield.
@ascorz11 I was going to buy the sowbelly just for the club shield. They're sooo devious. 😆
I want to get one
@@kathleensmith370 I'll send you mine if you want. 🙏
If you want a Chinese robot built knife then Rosecraft is the way to go, but I’m good with an all American one.
That's a very childish way of thinking.
I agree!
why is that?
@@paulyoder865 That soul.🙂
@@אלכסס-ח5ג A knife that’s too perfect to use just stays in the collection case. I prefer American made also and there’s nothing childish about that.
The blade is similar to the RRR Kayak also by Andy. Cool blade.
@@bdh3949 That one's bigger, isn't it?
@@rasputinscastle 3.62' closed, 2.5" blade. It is a 2-bladed opposite end jack.
I like the lanyard hole 🙂👍
@@montedodge341 Well designed. Even has a lanyard hole. 😆👍
It's definitely a beautiful knife hope you a great day
@georgebramblett6078 Thanks, George 😊
Comparison is the thief of joy 😉 Nice overview! I'm not very familiar with the more modern manufacturers, just the old ones. Good info on the Rosecraft and GEC, and interesting to learn about the changes with Case.
@PocketKnifeTherapy Oh brother! That's good. I'm going to remember that. You're the Emerson of the knife community. Thank you.👍😲🙂👌
I considered these same thoughts some years ago and decided on Case .
@propblast82nd The day before this video, I spent most of the day looking at GEC knives. In the end, I bought a Case 83 pattern. 🙂 Thanks for your comments 🙏
I would say very well said, so not sure why folks would get mad. I have never held a GEC, RC, RR but I would think I would get better quality out of a Case Select line of knife but have had some duds there in my opinion. I will assume 1/2 the blame as I should have asked to see multiple samples and been more selective in what I chose.
I love case but gec is better quality overall and much more consistent.
@@casexx94 yes if you can go to a knife store it's better to handle them put your eyes on them. But most the time people buy on line i do as well but not when buying a case. But I love case I grew up with them and owned many 🤙 But the GEC is just to much trouble to get but I would if I got lucky and they didn't all get bought up😂
I’m old and knew better but was blinded by excitement. Bought a case a couple to 3 weeks back and looked at everyone they had before I picked. I don’t even look for GEC and just usually the next case. Case is my son’s name if that shows my allegiance?
Good video.
@traceshill7237 Thanks, brother 🙏
interesting- Im not sure I agree
@@kathleensmith370 If you're not sure. You should always agree with me. That's what I tell my wife. 😲😆🤪
A great selection, Rasputin, and congratulations on all the views. 👍
@@bishop6426 Thank you. 🙏
Nice walk down memory lane!
Fantastic video, as usual; thanks for the effort. The last Gentleman's knife was terrific. I am excited to hear that you are planning on repairing it, and I cannot wait to see the results. Two thumbs up!👍👍
I’m a big fan of the SRK , NUT N FANCEY turned me to it a few years ago , I picked a few older carbon v at the ATLANTA blade show and eBay .. users. It is a good general camp knife . Feels good in the hand when using.
Do you have any knives with a Stanhope Lense? I bought one recently and I don't think the seller knew it was a knife with a Stanhope. When I cleaned it the lense worked but image had long deteriorated.
I know you I will get your hackles up, but I do like made in China knives.
The knife I use the most is a Buck Bantum. It hangs by my door. I can sharpen it a razor's edge easily.
4:17 I do like lobster knives.
Collecting knives for me only started 2011 when I bought a GEC.
I was just looking at buying a GEC last night.
I collect many items, but my interest in each wax and wanes.
Whatever I collect is primarily based on PQR (price to quality ratio) and the monetary value I think it will hold in the future. It's just the way that I am.
@jackasswhiskyandpintobeans9344 A value guy. Me too. It's rare I pay the asking price. Even retail, I'll wait for the mark down.
Cool video thanks Michael. I spotted a few that I missed so I'll have to go check them out.
@@bdh3949 You're welcome 😊
I saw some I’ve missed will roll back and try and catch up
@danedwards8535 Well, a lot of those were a year old.🙂
Great video. 💯👍
@cynthiajeffrey Thanks, Stephen 😊
Awesome Big Barlow 👍 I like those. That pattern is very close to those big 5” Jack knives that Robeson’ and others made back in the day. I think many were called English Jacks by folks back 100 years ago
Man oh Man, for some reason I have seen “Canoes” everywhere this week. Like that is the Only Pattern available ? 😊😊😊
@@mr.whipples411universe Canoes are neat knives.
The late 1700’s knife is very nice for its age . I like the fighting rooster stockman too. I’m surprised that the very old intricately decorated mother of pearl ( or was it ivory) didn’t make the views.
@@randyblackburn9765 it had a lot of views. Just didn't make it into the top 20.
Some great ones in there. Good idea for a video. Love that backdrop mat too.
@@casexx94 Things like that make it hard for the camera to focus. I like it too and decided just to deal with the focus issues 😁
Really like that wood lock back with Rosewood !!!! 🙂
The build quality is very bad on it. I wouldn't recommend buying one. White hill knives.
@@rasputinscastle Ok , I won't ,,, thank you 🙂
@montedodge341 No, I appreciate the accolades. I'd hate for you to buy one and not be happy with it. 😀😉
