Originally Harriette's Happy Camper, this channel is mostly just about my travels and van build. You can still Harriette and I on our wonderful camping, glamping, road trip and imaginary adventures in the near future!
A little about me: I was born in London, United Kingdom to American parents. Moved to the States in 1991 for high school and never left.... except for living for four years in Japan after college and traveling to 89 countries. So yes, I guess I left the States for a bit. Although I am a disabled veteran, I love hiking, mountain biking, running, paddleboarding, snowboarding, roller skating, ice skating, rollerblading, longboarding and all other activities I can find. I love learning new hobbies and meeting new people. I've been a journalist, travel writer, translator, travel writer, photographer, advertising executive, digital analyst, website designer, programmer, video editor, graphic designer and content producer for the last 30 years, starting when I was 13.

WALKING TO MEXICO FROM EL PASO | Ciudad Juárez
I’ve traveled to Salt Lake City, Utah with many parents for the past 8️⃣ years. I rode with my family to the grand lakes of Utah. It’s so pretty up there in the northwest of Utah especially when it is hot during the summertime. Last, I’ll see what I can do in the future. 🌎🌎✈️✈️
So many great ideas! Great tour!
I have my old co-workers family who used to live Baton Rouge Louisiana. I never went there. But this is so unique.
I love Baton Rouge. I spent a weekend there before the world shut down three days later in 2020. It was like a ghost town but everything was still open. I didn’t do videos back then. The tallest state capital building in the US is in Baton Rouge, and you can take the elevator to the top. They have an awesome savory pie shop. Fantastic museum about Louisiana downtown. Lots of quirky thrift shops. And I even had alligator fettuccine alfredo. On the way back to Houston, I stopped off in Breaux Bridge, the crawfish capitol, for some mud bugs
Very nice. I hadn't considered a Nissan NV, but you make it look like a viable option. Thank you for being so candid about security options and where you got what. Stay safe and TFS.
Hellooooo from Australia (I keep hearing bits of an Aussie accent when you speak?)🙂FABULOUS video - super helpful! Do your metal cabinets rattle? I have just bought a Ford Transit, had x2 MaxxFans installed (but not connected yet), bought an Anker power station and am thinking of kitting it out with IKEA for now based around a SLAKT single bed (comes with storage drawers built-in) along the sidewall as I'm too tall to sleep across the van. The Slick Locks are a great idea! You mentioned your MaxxFan is connected to the alternator - how does that work (if you used it LOL) when you are stationary?
Gday! I’m actually British born to American parents from New Jersey and spent the first 13 years in the UK and the last 34 years in the States (plus 89 countries in between and 4 years in Japan). A lot of people think I’m Australian because of my hybrid accent. I did grow up watching Neighbors back in the 80s in the UK 😁 The lockers actually don’t rattle. The canvas storage containers help. Plus I put sound deadening pads on the back of the lockers and used those felt sticky discs you put on the bottom of chair legs on the bottom of all the plastic containers. Old cloth pandemic masks wrapped around coffee mugs stop rattling too
For the Maxxfan, it runs off the car battery when stationary so just be careful not to leave it running all night
I’ve seen a few of your videos over time, very much enjoy them. Just noticed we are in the same facebook group
Ah yes, I’m assuming a Vanlife group? I do lurk a bit
@ yeah that’s correct, you’re name popped up because I think you liked one of my posts. You looked familiar
@ I’m headed to Skooliepalooza next week
@@TravelJennie me too, I’m also a UA-camr but i don’t do Vanlife content. As you can probably tell in the name its comic related.
@@ComicswithBueller my daughter is huge into manga and Sailor Moon
What they stole it wow ❤
Yeah, my viper alarm went off and I thought it was the neighbor kids hitting my van with their soccer ball so I casually put my slippers on and went downstairs only to see the guy drive off with my catalytic converter. There’s a full video on the stolen catalytic converter on my channel.
Thanks for the video, I was thinking about getting a Nissan Van, didn't know they came in hybrid. New Sub!
God you've done so many videos and you're just now getting to the point where you should be paid for your channel that's ridiculous you put in so much work and youtube doesn't really seem to appreciate that
I am monetized now, and growing organically. I appreciate everybody who watches the videos, shares the videos, which is quite a lot actually, and viewers who leave comments. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy 🥳
Hello Jennie hope all is well great tour love your van n U ❤❤
Thank you! And happy new year!

Morning wow love this video and merry Christmas to you
Happy holidays and the warmest of wishes 🎄
That looks like a skunk, be careful it will spray you really bad. Skunks only show their backs as a warning sign ready to spray. it could have been a porcupine but it look more like a skunk. Its spray can cause temporary blindness and the odor is the most terrible ever, literally hard to go away for days. It can irritate your lungs too.
cool camp spot. Maybe this is a reminder for me to have a sign ready saying "camp spot taken" if I leave to nearest town or something.
So nicely put together my friend! Shots are great!
I was born and raised at the top of the Caprock canyons we owned the farm there just passed the old Camp Rock Store I used to fish at Lake right there there is also a total it was made for a train you should see it it's pretty cool wow you're there you should go and see Lake McKenzie it is on the other side of Silverton
We were at the “cannon” and stopped in at this museum. It’s a very nice small museum with a lot of very nice things to see. It’s well worth a stop.
I've lived in the Amarillo area most of my life, but I've never gone to the botanical gardens. Though of course I've driven passed it like a million times.
It’s cute, and if you go at night, they have all the lights for the holidays
Look like yucca plants
Do you sleep with the mask on? Interesting video, enjoyed it.
Lol, no no. I only wear it when I wear helmets for biking and blading. Keeps everything in Texas from destroying my face. I don’t wear helmets when I sleep 😁
@ thanks for clarifying. Can never see your face. It’s like Wilson from home improvement.
It makes a guest appearance on most of my other videos 🎥🎬🍿💪🏻
Hehe well I did learn how to use power tools when I built the van
It looks so different
Thank you so much for sharing this! I was fortunate enough to travel from the Midwest and get to see the show twice over a couple of years. When they announced it was closing, my buddy and I got back to see it one final time in June before it ended in July. Have since purchased and watched the documentary on iTunes and have gone down a UA-cam rabbit hole of vids - but this is truly one of the most unique ones. 👍🏻 Here’s to having friends in props! 🤣 Thanks again, and I hope this show comes back in some way - be it a touring show or if they filmed a live version of it that can release as a concert film or something.
You might really want to upgrade your front struts/shocks...beef them up....that pattern of tire wear can be a sign of suspension issues...the weight of the van certainly contributes to that but better suspension is really the key.
@@steves3688 I’ll look into that. I spent a lot of time this summer in backroads of Colorado and Montana
@@TravelJennie Might not be real cheap but it should make a big difference for the tires and the van for that matter.....
Love Cafe Milagro !
Fancy Persons Zone Lol, I have been flying drones in the UK for over 5 years, make sure you are following the drone rules in your country and install apps on your drone to ensure you are not entering a No Fly Zone for example near an airport, hospital with heliport etc, I know it may seem silly with the Neo as you are using it to follow you at low altitudes, but the Neo has far greater capabilities with the motion controller 3/DJI FPV Controller and the DJI Goggles N3 it can be flown at greater altitudes and speeds and cause issues with helicopters etc. If you are in the USA I believe that drone registration for the Neo is not needed. the Neo in the UK however, does, so check the regulations in your country. Also, I believe that in the USA unlike the UK posting video from any drone even if you do not earn any money from it can be classed as attempting to monetise the video footage, in the UK we only pay tax if the video makes money. Worth checking the drone rules in the USA, UK, Europe etc need rationalising. Happy Flying
@@woodydroneson thank you so much, that is super helpful information. I’ve been in Houston for 10 years. In Texas you’re allowed to film and record people without their consent or knowledge as it’s a one person wiretapping state, meaning that, as long as you’re part of the conversation, you can give consent for both But when it comes to drones, yes, there are geographic restrictions. There are lots of small airports, and other landmarks that prevents the ability to fly. I’m learning all about that, and I did contact the city to make sure I was allowed to fly along that bike path.
@@TravelJennie Hi Jennie, yes America does seem to have varying privacy rules :) The app I use here in the UK also works for America and the rest of the world, it has all of the flight restriction zones usually red circles where flight are probably phrohibited or permission would be needed, it also has yellow circles where use of a drone may have security issues, but not ilegal to fly. The app I use is called Drone Assist on Android, but it is also available on Apple IOS it has also been called Altitude Angel. I used it in Chicago last year when visiting Family so I did not spend my hoiliday in the kind custody of Chicago Police :) I have a relative in Texas as well and others in Philippines and Australia, so hoping to fly there one day. The FAA website will have all the guidance you need to be safe and avoid any fines, you will probably find this couples YT video interesting ua-cam.com/video/wWDsyi-mkXk/v-deo.html. Sadly I cannot post my video from Chicago on YT :( Happy travels

@@Piratepoilet I just want to make sure the rabid dogs off leash don’t recognize me 😁
yess
you have an odd accent sometimes you sound English
@@MarriedToTheKGB lol yes. I was born in London to American parents that were from New Jersey. I lived in the UK until I was 13 and then I moved to California for high school. I didn’t lose much of my accent but I learned to enunciate a little better, since I had a very thick London cockney accent that was a bit hard for even me to understand sometimes. I spent the last 24 years traveling all over the world and I lived in Japan for four years after college. Also, I dated two Southerners so sometimes you start to speak like the person you’re going out with. Depending on the volume of my voice, or how tired I am, either the British or American comes out. I generally don’t think too much about it. But it is obvious 😁
Jennie, lots of fun! Just one thing... :-) We do not film, we VIDEO. :-) "Storyboard, script, VIDEOING, editing and on-screen talent by me! Jennie Timar:. :-) Film, filming, and filmmaking are the industry's (and education) most misused and MIMICKED words. 🙂 There was a time when the words, movies and film, went hand in hand because you couldn't have one without the other. This is no longer the case and hasn't been for some time. 🙂 Digital video and film require different skill sets. Having DIFFERENT HISTORICAL and TECHNOLOGICAL timelines spanning 150 years. Have PRIDE and appreciate the gear we now use, including the words describing what we do. Many AMAZING electrical engineers worked hard (over 100 years) to develop the technology that eventually surpassed film in every aspect. Our tools are Digital Video, Non-linear, and CGI. 🙂 We are moviemakers, not filmmakers. We do what filmmaking wished it could, and movie-making still does. Not only that, but we are creative types such as Videographers, Directors, and Cinematographers. Using the word film lacks originality, creativity, and expresses a limited understanding of what got us here and the tools (technology) we use. Also, since the individuals teaching this craft in the 21st century have as little knowledge as the students, much is getting lost in translation. If a school calls itself a "film" school or defines you are filming. Find another school. Learn to appreciate the tools of the craft and the art will follow. 🙂 We video or are videoing, we do not film. Don't like it? Apply some of that creative originality instead of mimicking. 🙂 We learn from, but differentiate from, the RARE professionals who know how to use film stock (like, KODAK COLOR NEGATIVE 35millimeter 500T or Kodak VISION 70millimeter 2383) and film cameras, like the ARRIFLEX 435 or the Panavision R-200 and let's not forget Steenbeck flatbed film editors. If you know the difference you will better understand the craft, standing out in an industry polluted with point-and-shoot "pros". This is just my POV in the Film and Video Production Industry for 40 years. Respect to you. ✌♥ This is film. ua-cam.com/users/shortsbXZOaDa2ZGQ?si=FqX_xMa-PuWHWkIn And this... ua-cam.com/video/bYuKhMltKxs/v-deo.htmlsi=xa9j_K8q_jZd0Y1l ua-cam.com/video/uLO0pH28N6Y/v-deo.htmlsi=NUEe8VNfsJOf8xHG ✌♥
I did the same thing, birthday gift for myself. I actually got my part 107 certification so I could use it on UA-cam the day of my birthday and ordered the drone the next day. Congrats.
Morning from Hawaii that was a good week at the ranch
Awesome
Pilots landing where they were not supposed to be? That would be the last time I fly that airline.
I’ve flown into IAH dozens and dozens of times. We were about to land, pilots announced the landing and when I looked out the window, we were on the other side of the United hanger over the freeway, not the runway. We were a few seconds from landing. The weather was clear. They pulled G’s suddenly sending us back up, circled around and made the approach again 20 minutes later. I flew 70 times last year and about 30 times this year. I’ve flown hundreds of times in the 46 years of my life to over 80 countries, and I’ve never had a plane do that before. It did not seem normal at all. The flight attendants seemed frazzled also. That’s the second and last time I’m flying Frontier.
