I think if some acoustic parts were mixed into the album version it would sound really good, the death of saint jimmy sounds pretty good on acoustic
this might be an unpopular opinion, but i've always thought this song is inferior to Jesus Of Suburbia
I prefer jesus of suburbia in terms of tune but the story and lyricism is so much better in homecoming
I think it’s just that the individual sections of homecoming are much more hit or miss than Jesus of suburbia
I changed my mind back in May, Hoco is now my fav Green Day song, JOS got kinda dull for me
Homecoming is my favourite song off American idiot followed by Jesus of Suburbia. I love these two long songs, I love all the different sections. Homecoming is a super well-written song and even having sections written and sang by the others (even Tre's section) add a lot to the song. Jesus is definitely more iconic but if they busted out Homecoming at a live show I'd probably lose my shit.
