DarlingJack, this is incredible! It's awesome that you've released a full EP of your originals, and seeing this project come to fruition is really exciting. ^_^ And wow, to think that part of this project dates back to over two years ago - it's been awhile in the making, but I'm sure that it's quite fulfilling to have completed it! In Memory Database is a track that really grew on me after repeated listens. That's not to say that I didn't like it at the start, but the more I focused on the progression and flow of the song, the more rewarding it became. The way it morphs over the song of the piece and gradually builds in terms of chaos and intensity is really cool, and I especially like the segment from 2:04 to the end, where that complextro lead is brought in. Also, the percussive parts on this one are super tight, and the addition and removal of elements throughout really makes it feel dynamic. I love that big metallic snare at 2:38 in particular, and your usage of dense, vintage snares has really become a trademark of your sound style, I feel. I Live to Carry These Echoes Within Me is such a dense and atmospheric piece. At first listen, it already feels like there's a lot going on, but the texture in each instrument is brilliant, and it's neat how so many of the synths have a "ringing" and/or phase/flanger(?) effect applied. You really maximized the effect usage here, and it gives the sound a distinct kind of distorted feel that makes each instrument stand out even more. I'm really a fan of the Liquid DnB/Breakcore style drums here, and I could see this being the theme of either an emotionally-charged boss fight (one with constant movement, like on-rails or where the character is sprinting to keep pace with the course) or a battle with a friend-turned enemy. Either way, it sounds great! I can see why The Meaning of Beauty is possibly your favorite track - it's definitely mine! I live for these types of pieces, and it feels like a Yoko Shimomura composition with the sweeping, emotional string melody alongside the ambient piano and turbocharged percussive elements. This one feels a bit reminiscent of your "Low HP Battle"-styled original that you produced last year, which is one of my favorites of yours, and the sense of urgency is definitely present throughout. The tandem melodies and harmonies hit especially hard here, and that countermelody in the bass is fantastic - so precise and articulated! OBSESSION continues with the high-energy, driving nature of this EP and the robust drums give it a satisfying beat. It's neat how that recurring phrase in the distorted synth acts as an ostinato element (a term I learned from your D/P/Pt Pokemon League remix, by the way) while the other instruments build and change around it. The synth chords introduced at 10:46 have such a cool and unique sound, complimenting the other parts quite nicely. This is another one that really grew on me with repeated listens! Ooh, I already mentioned that "The Meaning of Beauty" is my favorite in this EP, but Is it Peace or Solitude? is such a close second! The distorted breakbeat drums are so sick, and they remind me of the era in gaming (late 90's/early 2000's) when Jungle, Break, DnB and all the other associate genres were dominant. In particular, this track feels reminiscent of the music in 1080 Snowboarding for N64, both in terms of sound style and overall ambience. This piece is really immersive, and listening to it with solid speakers is an absolute treat, where those low-end frequencies can really come through. Just a superb piece overall! My apologies for taking so long to comment on this, but I wanted to make sure I had time to properly acknowledge and celebrate such a meaningful project. I know a ton of time, care, and effort went into crafting each piece, and it shows in how polished and unique each piece sounds. I hope this EP reaches a very wide audience over time, because it's certainly warranted. Once again, congratulations, and keep up the excellent work, my friend! 💛

Oh, wow, a Legend of Zelda remix! It's always really cool to see you covering tracks from different game series, and this is a great pick. I've never heard a rendition of Sidon's theme quite like this, and after checking out the song which inspired the instrumentation, I can definitely hear similarities not only in the sound design, but in the overall feeling itself. The chord progression in The Anthem - Jam Version feels strongly reminiscent of Sidon's theme, and it's really neat to see that parallel being drawn between two completely unrelated pieces. Honestly, I really love when people take cues from a certain song or idea unrelated to VGM, like you've done here! The rock-style drumming here is a unique take on the more cinematic original, and it pairs well with that crunchy guitar you're using. The heavy overdrive on the electric guitar really sets it apart, and I think the creative risk really pays off here. The supporting instrumentation shines, as well, with added energy from the rhythmic synth strings and that chime layer providing a delicate and mystical touch. And regarding the drums, I'm a fan of how the cymbals escalate things in certain phrases, like at 0:27 and 0:52. Great use of drum fills and lead-ins, as well! Again, it's exciting to see a variety of video game franchises being covered on your channel, and getting a bit of insight to the music you enjoy outside of VGM. Keep up the excellent work, my friend! 💛

I love how frenetic this feels! This doubles as an energetic, hype battle theme and a panic-inducing track that makes you feel like you need to get out of there fast if you’re not ready to deal with a 600+ BST Pokemon.

It could have truly been beautiful if the DLC ended up being pokemon trainers vs a planet buster itself… Sigh. Instead we get to fight the floating turtle with our idle stance pokemon.

Wonderful work, as always, DarlingJack! I'm glad that I was able to make the premiere for this remix, and it was one that I was especially looking forward to, since I knew you'd take this fan-favorite theme in a unique direction - and wow, what a stylish take! The instrumentation is superb, and I love how those bold brass synths really give the melody a certain brightness and flair, like you'd hear at a fancy club. It fits the aesthetic of the song well! And wooh, man are those supporting parts smooth! The jazz organ is such a great addition, and it fits in to the mix perfectly. I really like when it sustains through phrases and you can hear that rotary vibrato lingering afterwards. I think my single favorite detail, though, is the rhythm guitar that can be heard throughout. I really can't put into words how much I love the tone of it, and in the segments where it can be heard more in isolation (e.g., 0:27, 0:49) are just straight-up ear candy. In tandem with the bass and drums, it has such a slick groove that I can't help but smile when listening to. And speaking of percussive elements, you've done an awesome job with them here. The beat is complex and dynamic, and the stop-and-go style of the kick and snare creates a unique pattern that you don't often hear in electronic dance music. And I like how the hi hat ties everything together, helping to bridge those gaps between drum parts to keep the groove rolling along. The tonal percussion layered in with the snares (every 4th measure in the main segments) really add a lot to the beat, as well, and the open hats are satisfyingly crispy. Just a really tight production overall! I don't play Pokemon Masters EX, but I recognized the image right away - a great choice of artwork, and I think it captures the sound style well, while being a nice reference to the emphasis on fashion in XY. Hopefully they really make good use of that mechanic in Legends Z-A, too! Once again, excellent work, my friend! 💛

DarlingJack, this is awesome! I've recently really developed a liking for remixes that take the original vocals and integrate them with an entirely new instrumental backing, like you've done here. I did listen to the original track (the first three parts, actually) in Luv(sic) Hexalogy for context, and your remix does a remarkable job of capturing Nujabes' mellow, yet powerful feeling, but with your own sound style - amazing work, really! It's neat how your instrumental retains the tonal quality of the original, with that soft-filtered down sound, yet with more atmosphere here. It sounds warmer and more reflective, and the drums reflect that, as well, with the way you have them a bit further back in the mix, letting the synths and vocals take center stage. That said, I really like the rhythmic patterns you've created here, with the syncopated kick line and those snare mix-ups. I'm a sucker for hip-hop-styled beats, and this one is super solid! Equally effective are the segments where the percussive elements drop out, letting the vocals and synths sort of "float", as I often think of it. And the way you have the vocals fade out here really is a distinct and cool feature of your version - I think it fits the style of the piece perfectly! Honestly, it was really cool to read about this being your favorite album, and how this artist has been impactful for you. I always enjoy learning about what different people in the VGM remix community like (outside of VGM itself) and knowing what artists, genres, albums, or songs they cherish most. Big props for this creative deviation, and for executing it so well! Keep up the amazing work, my friend! 💛
