It's another great way to utilize some of that super sweet fabric that you have laying around....
Starch It Up
Переглядів 192Рік тому
Starching fabric prior to using it seems like a lot of unnecessary work. Well, at least, that's what I thought. I decided to give it a try and now I'm a believer. This video details the process I use to apply starch to bulk fabric as well as smaller pieces. Try it yourself and see if you like the results.

Stunning❤ thank you for sharing
You are so welcome!
Thank you Paige, that was an excellent video. I have got the Simply applique Programm, But have hardly used it with my ScanNcut.I have had the programm for a couple of years now.Now that you showed how it was done I am going to get into it.Wish you were closer. I live in Brisbane Australia. Thank you again.
I’m so glad it was helpful!!! YES! I’d love to be closer to you, too!!! I’d love to visit Australia someday ❤️
I love the shelves for your thread! May I ask where you purchased them?
My husband made them for me! They do work well! Thank you!!
❤❤❤
This looks amazing. I love the quilted finished look. Thank you for the full tutorial❤
Beautiful. Just a tip, since many seniors have arthritic hands, while the ties are quite pretty, velcro is a friendlier alternative for those that may struggle to tie things.
That IS a great tip!
How do you store quilt magazines
I store them like they are books on my bookshelf…..that way, I can see all my fabrics!
I found your video by chance and am so glad I did. I've had my Scan n Cut for quite sometime and not had the confidence to use it. You have given me the courage to go ahead and try it because you are a beginner with it as well. I'm 77 years young and always willing to learn news things when they involve craft. Thank you so much for this video because you have really helped me to get started.
Hi Blossom!! Have you tried your Scan n Cut w/ Simply Applique yet? I’m like you, I also like to try new techniques/tools for my favorite hobby!!!
@@paigeanneolson461 Hi Paige I haven't tried Simply Applique with my Scan n Cut as yet. I do have the software but haven't combined the two yet. Have a wonderful day.
just purchased simply applique and learning with you thank you want to do applique quits on my embroidery machine
Super!! ❤
Love them! ❤
This turned out beautiful. So accurate. I would like to see more of those Mini quilts. Where can I get the pattern for them?
Hi Sabine!! The pattern I used in the video was from Primitive Gatherings. Laundry Basket Quilts has patterns for mini quilts, also. Thank you for your kind comments!!
@@paigeanneolson461 Thanks for your answer. Now I remember that you mentioned it in the video. 😄
Thank you for a very informative video. About 40+ years ago, I had a ruffler foot with an antique Singer machine. I loved it. But life.... LOL. Now I might just need to buy one for my newer Babylock Soprano.
Thank you for sharing your ideas 🎉🎉.
You are so welcome!!! I’d love to see your ideas for fabric storage!!
Enjoyed your tutorial and ordered this pattern. I am a beginner, so this was very helpful. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Put SF 101 on back of thin fabric then put the heat n bond lite on the fabric
Is it washable? That is a VA home requirement. Thx
Yes, as long as your fabric is washable - the inside is foam and can definitely be washed!
What pattern did you use.
How fun!
I just found your UA-cam videos and love your market bags which I am going to make. I have been binge watching your videos and have subscribed. I have the Destiny II and that's what caught my attention when I was scrolling videos. There are not a lot of videos on Baby Lock machines most of my embroidery friends have Brother machines. I have been a Baby Lock Embroidery machine owner for about 40 years so I like looking at Baby Lock tutorials. I have never used the ruffler foot so I will purchase one of them because I love making towels too. Thanks for taking time to share your videos and love of sewing. Since I retired I want to learn to quilt.
Hi Tiesha!!! You are right, there isn’t much on utube that deals with Babylock - I LOVE my Babylock, too!!! Thank you so much for your kind comments!!! And thank you for subscribing!!! 😘
I need a smock for work and your video looks so detailed and made it so easy thank you❤!
Beautiful
You did a great job! I have the pieces cut for mine. Hoping to get it put together tomorrow. Thanks for sharing how you quilted it as well. I did a cross hatch around the bunny last month but I very well may do this again this month.
i love this monthly subscription! i got mine starting with the easter bunny! looking forward to sewing these with you! YAY! thank you for sharing!
This was great, thank you! That bias tape is cute enough that I'd almost want to get double fold and stitch it to both sides! I have a question: my mom had a stroke (is 76) and is half paralyzed and has consequently gained weight. She used to love to wear tunic style aprons before so I'd love to try and make her one (beginner sewist here) but I'm wondering if you have a suggestion for a way for her caregivers to have access to her front more like if it can easily open on the side or front somehow? Too difficult? Thank you! Also - because of that weight gain and large breasts to begin with and the likelihood of shrinking during washing and drying (she spills a lot now!) I'd want a huge size like maybe the equivalent of a 2XL. Any thoughts on how much I'd need to increase the dimensions by with that in mind? This is probably too difficult a request! 😅 Thank you either way!
Did you use a walking foot when you quilted the foam?
Hi Cindy, no, but you certainly could use a walking foot. I just used my standard foot. Thank you for watching my channel!
Very pretty bag❤
Thank you, i have two bags to make , so I am very happy to have found your channel. Regards Trish
One other thing. I bought my Simply Applique in 2016. Are there updates that you may know of or is it don't fix what isn't broke? Just thought you might know. Thanks.
Hi Kathy!! I’m so glad the video was helpful for you!!! I bought my SA in 2022; I am unsure if there have been any updates. If you go to the help menu (top right) there MIGHT be a phone number/website and you can try to contact them. ☺️
@@paigeanneolson461 Thanks so much for your response. I will see if I can get help there. Again, thank you.
Just happened upon your video. Fantastic. You are not just hitting buttons everywhere and not explaining what you are doing. Every video I have watch they are tapping buttons everywhere and not explaining actually why or what they are doing. When you are first learning, you need someone to slow it down a bit. I finally got this. Thank you so much. You have really helped me.
I loved your straight forward approach and I have Simply Applique which I have never used and a Scan n Cut I have barely used, so may try a quilt block now. I did want to ask, however, if you can adjust the size of the blanket stitch (wider/narrower, etc.) with SA software. Thanks and have a great day.
Hi Jeanfeeley!! I don’t know if you can BUT I would try the menu on the right - I THINK there is an option to increase the stitch length. There is also a help menu at the top of the screen - you may want to look at that. Thanks for watching my video!!
I see you do not use stabilizer? That is my biggest struggle learning how to embroider. I do not understand which kind to use on what fabric. My second struggle is spacing. I want design at bottom of towel and when it’s done it ends up too high.
Love your video ,my mother loves red birds. Also love your hair!
Thank you so much!!! I’ll tell my hairdresser ☺️.
Thank you for this tutorial. I really want to start hand quilting. You're a big help, thank youu ❤❤
I’m so glad this encouraged you to start! It’s soo much fun and you’ll get really good with practice!
Thank you❤ 26:12
Hi, thanks for the tutorial ❤ What pattern is it? Thank you
Hi Kim! The pattern Is a Kwik Sew K4300 ☺️
Thank You. It was so helpful and i can't wait to try it.
Where can I get that pattern? And what is the number for that pattern? Thank you!
Hi Melanie! I ordered this pattern from Etsy - it is a Kwik Sew pattern K4300.
Hi Melanie! I ordered this pattern on Etsy - it’s a Kwik Sew K4300 ☺️
Thank you so much for a very enjoyable and detailed tutorial. Even though I may not buy a ruffler, I was interested to see how it worked. I found you at random, and I’m subscribing. I love your ideas. Most of all, I liked the way you got started straight away and didn’t waste time talking about yourself and showing off jewellery and nail polish!
I think it would be nice to use a colored thread to hem the edges. Very nice kitchen towel and who wouldn't just love it!
Oh, I agree, colored thread would be pretty!! I’m so glad you like the video!!
Going to make this for xmas! thank you so much. :)
It’s a fun apron and very comfortable - there are no ties to mess with and I like that! ☺️
For block quilts like these I love the sashing too. Great tip about pressing open seams and stitch in the ditch!
What is the name and brand of this pattern?
Bello
I have that line. Love it!
Wow! Your blocks are perfect!! 💕
Excellent demo. I like your brother scan and cut.
Thank you, Helen!! I hope you’re able to try some of the fun things the Scan and Cut is capable of!! 🩷
That looks great and a simple sew.
I should be watching the tutorial but I’m busy admiring your ring!! 😅
LOL!!! That’s funny!!! Thank you!! ☺️
@@paigeanneolson461 I’m still watching the video only this time I’m paying attention to the pattern project!!
Thanks for sharing Love the colours of your bag Love your cats too Hijack the video 😂 Look at us 😂
They have been a fun addition to our home - they definitely like the spotlight!!! I’m so glad you like the bag!! ☺️
