LETS GO MR TRAN IM YOUR FAVIROTE STUDENT PERIOD 2 GUESS WHO!!!
👍👍👍👍👍
I really enjoyed your video. I too am a teacher in Wisconsin and plan on thru hiking the Colorado Trail in 2025.
nice video. except for the music
To each their own. What jams would you throw on it. Gimme some recs!
I love how you shouted out the other creators you met on the trail. Competition shouldn't exist in this space. We're all tryna do the same thing, and show everyone the world they could be seeing
All of us are just trying to survive and be loved on this little piece of rock floating through space. The backcountry is where you'll meet the most wholesome people. Totally agree with you on that. Thanks!
Nah yeah. My plan is to go both ways. You see it's because... "I would walk 500 miles then I would walk 500 more" 😂
There's the title of your video, "I'd Walk 500 More! Dang. Yoyo it huh? Good for you. Best of luck!
Bro. Seriously good video 👏 I was born in Durango Colorado. I have plans for hiking the CT. Been watching different people's hike docs. This one doesn't disappoint. I love the fact that you shared the low points and not just the highs. That's legit. Respect.
Appreciate that!!! Yes, I've learned to show the not to great things about thru-hikes. Suffering is also part of the gift of life and you ain't a whole human of don't experience some trouble!
Awesome video! I really hope someday to hike that trail. It looks amazing. New follower here. Crow
Hi Crow! I hope you get the chance to do it soon too. It's amazing!
@1:46 I'm out.
✌️
This is great
Thank you!
Oatmeal and eye love it!
HAHAHAHA!!!
Excellent!!
Thank you!
Definitely the best CT video I’ve seen yet. Thanks! Hoping to do this trail next year myself.
Mr. Tran you were a dope teacher! Bring back the mickey mouse voice for current students :)
Hey brother...watched both of your through hike videos and wow are they helpful. Amazing scenery! Loved the honesty. Thanks for taking the time to put this together. I'm also a teacher with summers off. I feel like I'm following in your footsteps. I did the JMT last summer with my daughter. This summer I'm thinking CT solo. Wondering if you might help me dial in a bit. Here are a few questions. 1. rain pants? 2. Umbrella? 3. How many liters was your pack? 4. How did it stack up to the JMT? I know its like double the length but steeper climbs? Less air? Seems like it was way wetter and exposed. 5. 30 days seemed pretty tough, how would you recommend approaching it? I did a few 20's on the JMT and they took me to the brink. 6. Seems like you started around July 1st and found lots of people to connect with. If I left around July 15 would there still be a descent bubble of people? Is the weather worse in August? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Great video, ending up watching most of it. Thanks Michael. Onward and upward.
Phenomenal!! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
What was your film/camera setup?
Just my Samsung Galaxy S21+
Hi! Love your video! Was wondering when did you see the alpacas and is this the area where there are dogs that are guarding them? Heard they can be very aggressive and protective of the herd, so I want to prepare bc I'll be bringing my dog.
Near Camp Hale and the WW2 Bunkers. It was a little bit of a scary moment, but I did my best to stay far away from the sheep (especially the kids), made myself non-threatening, and moved slowly. Dropped pin maps.app.goo.gl/13cANDvegHCKFcTW7
Good luck on your adventure!
hello Mr. tran, I will see you on monday in the new semester.
20:08 “should I be scared? “ why are so many hikers such bitches v
Oh . . . My dad wad a drum and bugle corp choreographer in Connecticut. Emerald Cadets ☺ kids passing out. Oh. 🥴
So cool! Small world!
Love love the music and cinematography. Soothing - eases me into the morning. Calming in the evening. Wish you had more videos. I imagine you'll rise quickly with more content. Reminds me of Adventure Archives or Homemade Wanderlust. Please more content? Vicarious living. Somewhat . . .
Wow, that is quite the compliment! Might be the spark I need to create some more. Teaching consumes me. I love it, but I need to make room for other passions in my life.
Great video Michael! I noticed you had a lot of drying parts to your gear. Consider a tent made out of Dyneema, it won't absorb water, nor will it sag. Planning to do the 2023 Colorado trail thru hike.
Appreciate it and good luck!!!
Great video! I also did the CT in 2021, but in August (no bugs and no rain, sorry…). This brings back the best memories, thanks!
Haha no worries! Glad you received pleasant weather!
Brilliant video! Thank you! Planning 2023 Silly question but do we tip trail angels?!
Normally, trail angels give out the goodness of their heart and typically don't accept tips. However, I've always offered money for long rides in or out of towns. People don't take that either!
Would you mind sharing the tent you used and if you liked it? :)
Big Agnes Copper Spur UL2
I loved it! Easy to set up and move in case you set up on uneven ground. Light and strong in wind.
Thanks for posting this - been thinking about the colorado trail as my next thru hike and this was a great video.
I appreciate it! Hope it convinced you to do it!!!
Nice! You're a good dude. Thanks for the great content. I've section hiked the first half of the CT but doing sections 14 to 28 in a 2 week chunk next June.... what's next for you?
Nice, great video and good info. First time I heard about Butterfly hostel that was great info. Thanks
One of my favorite spots!
Hi I am hoping to do the Colorado trail in the future. Would you be willing to share your gear list?
Well done man!
Thanks!!
loved this video and to see how enthusiastic you are! Doing the JMT this summer for the first time and might record it because of your fun video! thanks for creating!
Great video! Very well put together, felt authentic and natural. Happy Trails!
What a glowing compliment. Thank you and happy trails to you too!
I really enjoyed this. Thanks for the time and effort putting this together, and congrats on finishing!
I'm happy to hear you enjoyed it. I had fun putting it together! And thank you!
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing your adventure. I was wondering how many people you typically saw each day / hiked with for stretches of the trail? Were there many days you were completely alone?
Reports said there were a high number of people on the trail and definitely a record. I would say I saw anywhere from 20-30 people in a day (excluding bikers and day hikers)? My perception may be off. You normally "leap frog" around the same people throughout the hike. The quietest was probably Segments CW2-CW4 where I saw 5-10 a day. No lonely days on trail!
@@trumpettran thanks for insight! I’m excited to get out there this summer!
Great video, thanks for sharing ! I hiked Vermont's Long Trail last year and had a blast. Just got my CT maps last week and am in the very early planning stages. I've done some 14ers in the past and love Colorado. Watching videos like yours just confirms that I will attempt this trail. Hopefully sooner than later..
Very nice! We almost switched! I was thinking about the LT for this summer but ultimately decided to return to the Sierras. Best of luck this summer!
@@trumpettran thanks, you too ! Will likely take a couple years before I can make the CT happen. Until then, Maine's 100 mile Wilderness this year and maybe the Wonderland Trail next year. 🙂
One minute in and I already love this…
Thanks for coming to the chat today and I'm glad you're enjoying it! :)
@@trumpettran it’s so good! Makes me want to hike the Colorado Trail! It was a great livestream. I really enjoyed it!
Such a wonderful inspiration. I'm starting my first of 3 section hikes of the CT this Summer. You give me a lot to think about.
I wish you the best of luck!
A question, Michael. I'm planning on hiking the CT this summer and my girlfriend would like to join me for a week or so. Are there a few sections you'd recommend, bearing in mind altitude acclimatization and accessibility to a town where we can rendezvous? (She'll be flying into Denver from the east coast and is generally very fit.) Thanks in advance!
Segments 5-8, the Collegiate West, and 20-24 were my favorite. No matter what, elevation will be a factor in those three choices. One thing you could do is start together and do segments 1-6 from Denver/Littleton to Brekenridge/Frisco.
@@trumpettran Much obliged, Michael. I've been thinking mainly about the Collegiates West, but getting her from Denver to Leadville is the challenge.
Great vid! Which through hike next? ;]
Thank you! Either the Long Trail in Vermont or a return to the Sierras!
I also hiked the CT this past summer...I lucked out with the mosquito bites...only had 5-6 the entire hike.
Lucky you! Other than a few mornings and evenings, they weren't really too bad.
Great video! What did you pack for food and what was the longest stretch you carried before re-supply?!?
Mostly ramen and varied forms of ramen. The longest stretch I think was the six days from the beginning to Breckenridge. I resupplied in Breck, Twin Lakes, Monarch, & Lake City.
Are you going to hike the Vermont Long Trail next to complete the Triple Tiara (JMT, CT, Long Trail)?
Oh man... I was TOTALLY thinking about it. That is a MUCH more realistic target for me right now. But the Sierra Mountains are calling again... I don't know yet but the Tiara is in the plan!
Had no clue you were a DCI vet! I marched Louisiana stars 2019 and will be this summer of 22 after covid shut down last 2 seasons. Small world out here
Oh nice! Stars have been on the uprising! What do you play/spin? Good luck this summer!
Hey Mr Tran! Wow, this trail must have been great and refreshing! I know tiring but worth the effort you know! 1:00 😂! Really Mr Tran this was really cool! 1:12 Oh my god! One day I would love to join you on a trail like this! (no joke, seriously if we can do it I am down!) Edit- 1:48 Yay I am on UA-cam!
Haha sounds good!
Do you have a gear list for this hike? Wondering what you used for the Big 3 (pack, tent, & sleep system). Thanks for sharing!
- Big Agnes Copper Spur HV UL2 mtnGLO - Zpacks Arc Hail Zip 64L (Could have easily gone with the 57L) - Zpacks Solo Quilt 10F - Thermarest Z-Lite Sleeping Pad
Hey Mr. Tran
Hi!
Thanks for sharing. Great video.
Thank you!
Great stuff man. I’m hiking the CT this summer and your film is getting me so pumped! We also have a very similar itinerary/resupply plan so it helped a lot to get an idea for that. Awesome video
Glad I could help! Let me know if you have any questions!
