The ratio of the weight of all the electronics to wing loading is too much. You could probably double the wing area, using the same electronics. Also, check CG. I have tried building planes this small with similar electronics because I didn’t want to use the spectrum/esc unit, which is expensive. Foamboard is fairly heavy compared to what is used in planes of this size.

is the Center of Gravity at its right location? there are many online CG calculators to check its right place. I guess you are using a 1000 KV motor with 10 inch propeller; this will give no less than 400 g of thrust. Did you weight your airplane? The biggest problems of RC come from the thrust angle and the CG. I suggest also to use landing gears and give the plane chance to increase its wind speed. With landing gears, first try taxiing on the ground and check its characteristics, then try to raise it slightly above the ground and land it directly; then analyze its flight and deduce if it needs some trimming (including CG location and thrust angle value). On the internet, everyone makes RC airplanes and fly them from the first time, real life is completely different!!! Do not quit, be patient.

Bldc should have enough power to move it forward, maybe build a larger plane as larger flies better, with larger propeller preferably 8inch to 10 inch for more thrust. And using 3s 11.1 v lipo battery. Make sure to check cg and wing and stabilizer must be parallel, as well as motor shaft angle.

Martin, complete newbie here- I just maiden flew this same airplane, flew abut 30 seconds, missed the soccer goal but stuffed it into a tree.. had to go home and get a pool brush pole to get it down-no harm no foul-found the prop, regained composure then proceeded to have a very nice flight... :) was nervous but next time out should be easier..👍 So glad I went with this light little plane, I would imagine, something heaver like the 1.2meter trainers would of been toast..had a couple cartwheel landings..this little thing still looks new..
