Given that they are tiny homes, they won't even be legal in most places in USA. If they were, you can build a tiny home for less money, without waiting for boxable to get round to making yours. So NO, I wouldn't buy one of these.
You failed to mention land$$$. I want to reiterate it discreetly says add. My understanding is that they're way back order and it's a long wait to get your home. Do some careful research before investing.
Might work if you live where there are no tornadoes, downbursts, high winds, floods or landslides.
Their website says they are as sturdy as traditional homes. Guess time will tell
I would love to live in one . God it would save a lot of people from going home less
It sure could of zoning laws in many areas were changed
I'm ready to buy, live in Santa ana CA, but the city (building department) says it doesn't match or looks totally different from the house and they rejected it
I'm sorry to hear. Lots of issues with these are zoning issues. Hopefully there's enough popular sentiment to change these rules
I haven't looked into it, but I'm curious. Canada is a cold place and we're stuck with our favorite douchbag dictator Justin Trudeau.
Lol thanks for the comment!
I love Elon, however, I am at a loss for answers in how these units are produced for $6,900? I own a company that produce "shipping containers' for personal and business use and my actual costs can run as much as $40,000 ~ One unit that we will be finishing within the next couple of weeks has a ceramic and porcelain tile with the latest fixtures have cost us cost to $8,000, however, most people that have viewed this bathroom are very impressed, even one lady saying that it looked like something from Better Homes & Gardens!! lol With the 4 Pella windows on the front side, a slider window on the back wall, and a triple thermal entry door, the cost was over $3,900 ~ Just the over-minimum requirement wiring and the versatility to simply hook up to any 50 amp power receptacle [similar to motorhome or yacht] including all ground-fault receptacles also costs in the thousands when the professional labor is added ~ I am baffled in trying to get my head around a $6,000 liveable house? With a low-profit level, our units can average around $60,000, and even some of the cheaply made pull-behind camper trailers that I see here in my Myrtle Beach area have starting costs around $50,000 up to around $160,000 ~ Like I said, I love and respect Elon or any man that can send a rocket into space and have it return and "park" on its original base, it surely has my attention! lol ~ However, I would like to see a finished product of these $6,000 houses with what they are made of and what they actually include?
Thanks for sharing! The $6,900 rumor definitely got a lot of people talking, but you're totally right. Actual costs depend a lot on materials, finishes, and labor. Boxabl's Casita, which is around $50,000, keeps things pretty minimal to stay affordable. It’s not as high-end as what you're doing, but it’s aimed at being an affordable, basic option for housing. And yeah, Elon Musk jumping on board definitely makes it even more interesting! Boxabl's trying to make livable spaces as budget-friendly as possible, but like you said, there are always extra costs and things to consider. Appreciate your comment!
Figure another 50-100k for services and the concrete slab. The septic system alone can be 40k. Plus the 25k concrete slab. Plus the installation. Plus a garage, access road. Plus more. And mold loves these materials.
True, one area this could work without many of these issues is in urban areas that already have utilities and space. Especially the stackable ones
@@ARealtorNamedHouse Yes. Build complexes in urban areas. Or a cabin in the woods if money is not an issue. Otherwise, I don't see this being feasible as an alternative to cheap housing because of the other costs involved.
Totally agree, there are definitely a lot of extra costs that come into play, especially when you’re not in an urban area where utilities are already in place. In rural or off-grid locations, all those additional costs can really add up and make the whole affordable aspect harder to achieve. Appreciate your thoughts on this!
Mortgage rates will drop because everyone will have 50-80 year mortgages ….. That’s a higher payment for a longer term
Longer mortgages won’t automatically lower rates. Mortgage rates are mainly set by Treasury yields, inflation, and government policy. Not just loan terms. Thanks for commenting!
Utility hookup, site prep, & permits can easily cost as much as the house, PLUS the property cost! I’d rather just buy a 40yr old 2br house with a basement and a garage for the same price.
All true. Depends on what location. Some areas may not have any alternatives that are inexpensive. Nice username too! 🙂😄
it's like people don't know how their Own house looks on the inside ... any house is made of , pretty much nothing more then cardboard ( wall paneling ) with some paint / wallpaper on it and some insulation ... if you build a small home , i can do it for half the prize of these pieces of crap , build to spec , if one wants
Good point! A lot of houses are basically drywall, paint, and insulation, and it can feel like you're paying way too much for what you get. The big thing with tiny and modular homes, though, is the convenience and some of the eco-friendly features they come with. But yeah, if you've got the skills to build a small home yourself, you can definitely save a lot! Have you tried building one before?
I could consider it!
Check them out!
Yes . And get the fuck away from city’s and dumb humans
Lol, the American dream work hard, and you could own a shead😅😅😅
Perfect if you have your own land out in the middle of now where. Try this in the city on a city plot of land.... Good Luck. The city will give you all kinds of H%$LL just on permits alone. Never mind the price of the city plot of land
This is very true. I talk about this somewhat in the video. Mainly the issues with zoning
Yes
Heck yeah!
Yep! I am on board.
Heck yeah! Thanks for commenting!
How can I buy one of these Homes ??? I am a Patriotic Trump supporting California disabled senior Grandmother facing homelessness in November 2024 ..Please help !!!
Oh no! Check them out here www.boxabl.com/invest?tnames=googlebrandedsearch{}{9021584}{21485311856}{165302394655}{boxabl}{b}{m}{706247600320}&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwg-24BhB_EiwA1ZOx8tg8rAJCaFBna-XRzdc55tOzw4U8O43lXR3WHh953jyvVb20zzhMoBoCGi4QAvD_BwE
Not yet. Land, will cost! And the mention of building codes is a road block. No talk of insulation or weather conditions not really ready for land of OZ! Climbing to get into bed! Not this person Let’s talk one story plan better than a trailer home!
Great response! The company Boxabl mentions their homes are as weather ready as standard construction homes. There are also companies with models that are single story to help with those who do not want any stairs.
They should call it a Cottage, not a House. "Cottage" sounds small, quaint, comfortable and homely, like a little utopia. House sounds plain, and large, and it comes across as advertising hype.
But I'm a House too.... Am I false advertising? 😂
Yes
Heck yeah
They started out affordable but not anymore. You still have to have the land in a zone that will allow it. Plus cost of utility hookups and building permits.
This is all true. I made a longer video on this explaning some of this. Thanks for the comment!
Yeah until the tornado comes through
That's a valid concern. Really, a concern for any home
The amish will build you one in six hours for 16k.
Heck yeah! Great idea!
see spouting crap is contagious leon
What?
You first need LAND.. Think of the region you choose. Weather.. Weather.. Weather....
Very true! Thanks for commenting!
Of course. Morgages are 5k/ month
Heck yeah! Thanks for commenting!
the local zoning and permitting department entered the chat 😎
Lol if you watch the longer version of this video, I talk about that being a huge concern
Still got to buy land
This is true
Yes
Heck yeah!
I can guarantee you will not be getting a fully functional house for $50,000. The house itself is $50,000 that’s not including plumbing, electrical, or the foundation the house needs to sit on or a driveway and probably a million other little details that they forget to tell you about like permits. Those little pesky details aren’t cheap.
This is true. You will need to put up more money for utilities and the lot itself
How long before they triple the price. Elon is an expensive representative and if what he said was true the Casita has already gone up 500%. Hopefully it stays low priced it could be a great opportunity for a lot of people. I just seen a video from a year ago where the price is really $60,000 that’s $184 per square foot that’s more than my conventionally built home. It’s actually a very expensive tiny home.
Hopefully they build more so they the price possibly drops
How cool! Have they done testing to see how it withstands a robber, fire, rainstorm or earthquake? Is it similar to the trailer park homes?
On their website it mentions these homes are as sturdy as a conventional construction
@@ARealtorNamedHouse thank you. This is awesome
You're awesome too!
oh YOU think for 10k it comes furnished, WOW......... Not Elons fault your Stu PID
Prices will be up to $100,000 🎉.
Lol prob
Even newly weds will.enjoy this small houses 🏘
That's true!
Lets maje A research and check this tiny home...
That would be awesome for a lot of people!!
Heck yeah! You're awesome too!
Their is No housing crisis
I'd disagree. Affordability is the main crisis
Correct it's a greed crisis ....
Building more houses would help
$16,500 LUXBUT wooden tiny home on Amazon
Heck yeah! That's awesome
No. California started squeezing families into 2 story boxes 30 years ago. $50k.Bedroom upstairs & everything else on the first floor. I don't want to live in a mouse box. If it's a shed conversion to a home, then yes!
Good point. They are not for everyone for sure
@@ARealtorNamedHouse I don’t need much I like the idea Yes it’s not for everyone But new couples (let’s them get their foot in the door-no pun intended) I think this has great potential 😎🇺🇸
I agree! Thanks for commenting and supporting the channel!
Yes.i would definitely buy one
Check them out! There are other companies that are similar too
Heck yeah. I can't even afford rent much less buy a house. Seems doable. Won't be paying for it for 30 years. Everybody's situation is different. That's the house for me.
Hey! Thanks for commenting! Check out the company or other like it. Maybe they can work with you on something
Great project.. 50k.to.live in it in one.day... Solution to many problems... I would love to have one..
Seems like a good idea! Check them out and other companies to see if they can do something for you! Thanks for commenting!
If Elon engineered it I would buy it.
Go getchu one!
Would be cooler with at least one acre included in the price 😉
For sure! Thanks for the support!
Musk has another channel for a tiny house for 4999.00 is this a joke 🤣🤣🤣
Sounds a bit too good to be true. Most tiny homes cost way more than that.
Concerning 😟😟😟 is Insurance HOW MUCH??? I'M A FIRST TIME HOME BUYER AND I DON'T WANT TO PAY A ARM OR LEG 🦵 🦵🦵🍗 FOR LIFE IF I CAN'T AFFORD INSURANCE??😮😮😮😮
There are a gillion ways to build low-cost efficient and comfortable homes. There would be, there would be if the government had no say in the process. The government is always responsible for inefficiency and high costs. The government controlled by individuals who don't want you to have access to anything but what they're selling.
Thanks for sharing! I get what you're saying. Too many rules can definitely slow things down. But sometimes they help keep homes safe and reliable too. How do you think we could find a good balance?
@@ARealtorNamedHouse pay off the right building inspector.
@@wasblindbutnowsee lol heck yeah
I think this is an amazing idea, people balk at 50,000 but in all reality that's still a great price especially for the Insanity that is today's housing market I'm hoping that Trump can get it back to some reasonable reality but then again everything is unpredictable, this could be a serious answer to the housing market issue, 50,000 is not chump change but it is actually attainable and gives hope for people who had none. In my area trailer homes are going for $200,000 and you don't own the land with that price just the trailer home, so to be able to possibly buy some land and then buy this outright and put it on land you own and a house you own is amazing. Great video by the way, nicely edited and set up.
Wow! Thank you so much for your support! Zoning laws make this kind of housing difficult but I'm optimistic for the future
I can see these homes for someone who cannot afford a regular home, first time home buyers, senior citizens. No, I would not want to live in one of these, I like my space in my regular home which I am used to. So, thank you - no
All good! They wouldn't be for everyone, that's for sure
