Riding Hardknott Pass the hard way, West to East, Rear Camera View.

The rear cam view really shows how steep this road is.. We rode East to West last year 2023 and it was ok but West to East is a lot more challenging so we went back for another go, really good fun and no problems.

Riding Hardknott Pass - Full Length Version
Переглядів 464Рік тому
Hardknott Pass is the steepest road in England with a 30% incline. We rode it from East to West, the descent is almost 1,000 feet of tight bends single track road with gravel and sheep, good fun. Almost no other traffic, not sure I'd want to do it in the summer as I've heard it's full of cyclists and camper vans. #MKAM
BMW GS Motorrad TFT Connectivity
Переглядів 7 тис.Рік тому
A demo showing why you might want to consider connecting your phone and helmet to a BMW GS TFT, no need to reach for the side of your helment anymore. I should have mentioned that the BMW app also keeps track of the bikes mileage, fuel level, service intervals etc, so if you're sat at home and want to know how much fuel you've got, just open the app as it remembers from the last time it was con...

GoPro Quik For Windows Desktop - why it's bad
Thanks!
What was the result??
The rain beaded off for a few weeks but better to use something like Nikwax Visor Proof.
so I had a hard time listening to the video, sorry bad speaker. Im wanting to get a system for my wife and I, she rides behind me. At this point what would you recommend ? Thanks
Thanks for the feedback, sounds ok to me. If it's just the 2 of you I'd go with a Cardo as they have a good IPX (waterproof) rating as the Sena is not waterproof.
simple road, but the gs is too heavy.
The GS is absolutely fine, I had no problems with the weight on this road at all.
Lovely to listen to the beautiful purr of the engine, and your exceptional use of gears, to keep torque on the wheel as you confidently negotiated this infamous pass; thank you.
thanks, it's a case of trusting/knowing the bike, being in the right gear, and keeping on the power.
Well done my man ! Took me back a few years ! Absolutely nothing has changed ! Thank you for that ! regards Leg's
yep, still wet 🙂
Thanks so much for this video! I usually use headset just to communicate with passenger, would you say mesh is better then bluetooth? Is bluetooth more clear reception? I currently have a sena spider single unit deciding whether i should get another sena or sell it and get 2 cardo HD spirit- but you are saying cardo sound is crap? Maybe I'll get another sena and make sure i don't get caught in rain Also the integrated unit is only for specific helmets?
Hi, sorry for the delayed reply. Re Mesh v Bluetooth, the sound quaility is the same, if there's just 2 people on the comms then BT is fine, Mesh works well when there's a lot of riders/pillions in the group as each Mesh device acts as a relay so you can get more range where as BT is paired between helmets so if the riders change order than the signal can drop. The integrated is a partnership between the helmet manufacturers and the comms manufacturers, each comms model is designed to fit specific helmets.
Cardo spirit hd w 45mm speakers or Sena smh10 ?
Depends on your requirements, what devices do your riding buddies use? if none then I'd go with a Cardo with the 45mm JBL speakers.
Thanks for this
You’re welcome.
What media app are you using for music, i can only play whats already selected on my phone and dont see any tracklisting or album art whether its spotify or music downloaded to my phone
I'm using the built in Apple Music app.
@@TwoWheelHustle thanks, i found out it only works with iphone and Apple music. A bit dissapointed that BMW couldnt sort out a version for android, all we get is whatever is playing on your device, no track listing or album artwork
I just aquired a 1979 XT500 3 weeks ago. It sat for 3 or 4 years in a chicken coop in west Texas. I am very happy to have it, starts on first or 2nd kick, even with minimal cleaning of tank and carb.
Great video - thank you
Nice video.... Have you been able to have the zumo xt do voiceover directions with your setup?
Thanks. Yep, I have my Zumo paired to another Bluetooth channel on my Sena and I get voice prompts, although 90% of the time I have them muted as they can get annoying.
@@TwoWheelHustle Thank you!
Thanks for this video! One question, can you control your navigation on your phone in the BMW ConnectedApp with the multicontroler? Or do you have to have the BMW Cradle connected in order to do that? Thanks!
Thanks for the feedback. You do need the BMW Cradle for that.
We as a group use sena mesh and I have garmin xt everytime voice prompts cuts mesh I've missed half a conversation before mesh reconnects. Music won't play with mesh. It's just a mine field of connections.
Yea I had exactly the same issue so I turned off voice prompts.
Didn’t follow much at all as you didn’t show the switches you were using. None the wiser
Fair comment. I was only using the Wunder Wheel and the up/down button on the left switch gear cluster.
Press and Hold to return to main screen! I've had my 1250 gs for a year and a half and didn't know this. (or if I did, I'd forgotten all about it, happens like that to old guys!) Thanks!
Glad you found this useful. Did you also know about the press and hold on the heated grips/seat button? Turns them on/off so saves you having to wind them down to 0 each time? Very handy.
@@TwoWheelHustle No. I always go into the menu. I'll give that a try as well. Seems this bike has more shortcuts than an Apple computer keyboard! Thanks for the tips.
I love tech, but for me the BMW Firmware is simply too buggy. Back in 2019 I was participating in their BETA programme to try and help iron out the glitches. But it never worked reliably enough for me, plus the fact the Cardo app no longer works meaning I can’t switch between mesh groups. Thanks for the video 👌🏻👍🏻
My 2021 GSA was very buggy to begin with but there’s been a large firmware update and now it’s very reliable. Is there a way so swap Mesh groups using the buttons on the device?
@@TwoWheelHustle not that I’ve found. I’ve actually emailed Cardo support today asking that question. I’m keen to give it all another try and your vid inspired me 😎
I love my GS, and tried it so many ways, but connecting to the bike loses way more features than it gains. I gave up. It’s rubbish unless you only have the most simple and basic requirements.
You shouldn’t loose any features, what do you mean?
I have the update on tft but still have it confused so I’ve deleted everything, and need to re pair the Cardo , so can you help me , is it Cardo to TFT and phone to TFT only ? And I I wright Cardo is to the riders helmart? Carl uk , Nottingham
Cardo is helmet so connect that to Rider 1, your phone connects to Phone on the TFT. Do not have your phone connected to the Cardo as this will cause confusion and the audio may not work correctly.
@@TwoWheelHustle thank you . I will sort that this morning
What are you doing with pairings with the Zumo XT since you run it for bigger outings?
I have the Zumo paired to my phone so I get traffic data. I have paired the Zumo to my Sena for voice prompts but they annoy me so I disabled that. 😄
The helmet paired to rider should be paired as “gps” so you can still use siri. Same thing as on the passenger helmet.
Just found your channel after watching your video about the connected app, You don't happen to know if you can have the throttle response found in Dynamic but the suspension settings from Road and if so how do I go about setting it up?
I often have throttle in Dynamic and suspension in Road. When you change Mode it will change the throttle and suspension to Dynamic, I then just hit the suspension button to flick it back to Road. There is an option in Settings to unlink the suspension and throttle modes.
The only trouble with connecting this way is that you lose the Siri function on your cardo or Sena. With my connected app I connect phone to headset and phone to tft. I don’t connect the headset on my helmet to the bike. This way you still get the connected app side of everything but you can say hey siri play whoever you want to play or hey siri call whoever which is a lot faster and easier than using the wonder wheel.
I used to use Siri before I got the GS, it worked well with my old Cardo and low speed but once the wind noise increased it wouldn’t work, I now use Sena and this is pretty bad at detecting any voice commands.
I'm frustrated. I have a 2023 BMW r1250 gsa with Cardo freedom 4 and the navigator by bmw. Not the last Garmin one. I can't get everything to work together. I END UP CANCELLING EVERYTHING AND JUST CONNECTING MY PHONE TO MY CARDO FOR MUSIC OFF Spotify. And other way I can't get cardo to work properly with voice commands. Hey cardo, next track...etc
Really helpful video thanks. Does the tft only control/play music on Apple Music or does it work with Spotify?
You can use any music app, Amazon Music, Spotify etc, you need to load it first and start playing and then hit pause, once it’s connected to the bike you can hit play on the TFT and it will continue.
whats that GPS button next to wheel?
It’s the remote for a Innovv K3 camera system. Highly recommend 👍
the 'pile of rocks' at the summit is called a cairn... just saying...
Thanks Geoff, good to know 👍
I still had them odd drop out out on iphone on my new 2023 so use a wifi only android as a bike phone. Interested to know if you use a music app for media etc (spotify?) or if you had tried using media whilst you had Nav running ? Cheers Ride safe 👍🏻

Something definitely not right with your Cardo Edge if the sound quality wasn’t good - the Edge has the best audio available on the market today. True what you said about only 2 Bluetooth channels though. I’ve used both Sena and Cardo too, Cardo Pactalk Edge is hands down the superior Comms unit in my personal opinion due to ease of use, waterproofness, battery longevity, have up to 15 riders connected via DM 2.0, range, sound quality, and the fact I can easily transfer it from lid to lid. But each to their own, and obviously if the people you ride with all have Sena, then it makes sense to get the same Comms, otherwise you can’t connect via Mesh 👍
Thanks for your Comment. Possibly a problem with that one unit but impossible to troubleshoot, it sounded ok when sat at home but once I had my ear plugs in and riding it sounded really flat.
I have a single unit sena spider only can connect via mesh, i want to get another unit for my passenger. Not sure if i should get another sena or sell the spider and buy cardo Just curious, is mesh better then bluetooth as far as reception and how clear it is? I don't ride in groups much just passenger- is bluetooth more clear then mesh
If you're just talking to your passenger then Bluetooth is fine, Mesh is good for a group of riders.@@dsd-downshiftdave8056
I have driven that route many times driving back and forth from Spain to the UK, with such wonderful views.
Have you got your new shock yet and tried out
Yep, it finally arrived a few weeks ago. I’ve not fitted it yet as I want to go ride for a few days and then fit it so I can do a good comparison. It’s so wet and crappy roads I’m using my GS until it clears up a bit.

Good video. Saved it for next time I take the seat off. Worth checking
Out of warranty.
So you have 2 options, either leave it as a shock that you can't adjust or replace it, the OEM unit is about £450, or upgrade to an Ohlins, Hagon etc.
Same with mine I sprayed WD40 in there, between the plastic adjuster snd after an hour it feed up
Hi. I can’t screw my adjuster in or out. Any advice?
Warranty job. 👍
Which roads were these? Looks great
The A4061 from Rhigos to Treorchy and then west on the A4107 towards Port Talbot, we stopped at Afran Lodge for food and then rode back down the same route.
How has the coating performed on your Shark helmet?
Beautiful view, ride safe.
Love it. Great footage and scenery.
Thank you for sharing the video I am just fitting an INNOVV myself to my 2019 XCA tiger, how did you fit the switch live wire into the connector in the back of the bike, I was thinking of splicing to the din plug but much prefer your method. Great video 👍Fitted system today and used the required terminal fitting it into the socket then plugged back in and works great.
Very helpful video. Looking to buy a Gen 2 S10 ZE but interested to know how long should the ABS light stay on for after starting?
All bike ABS systems (that I’ve used) take a few meters to calibrate and then the light goes out.
The Xt&Tt are two different bikes-Go Tt owned both
Not boring at all . Love the reaction when you kick it over .would of looked nice in converse boots .well done lovely bike X sound
Yeah if the sun is hitting the dash I can't see the info on the dash...
Hi, do you sell TT500 rebel engines?
Love to know what you thought after a ride
I plan to do a follow up ASAP.
@@TwoWheelHustle followed up?
I have a 1977 TT500 and couldn’t start it ,I use to push it down a hill until someone told me the starting process now it starts first second kick, I love that bike just wish mine was street legal
I bet your ankle and knee feel great lol
Good job. I have a ‘79. I find it starts first kick from cold. If you stall it, it can be a bigger to start. When it’s warm it tends to start pretty well. Do you ride it?
I'm on the fence about what adventure bike I want to buy as a second bike so I can get out off road & do some motorcycle camping. But after seeing that nonsense of plugs getting wet because of rain plugs & all the digging you got to do just to change the buggers I think I'm gonna scratch the Yamaha off me list. I love me Yamaha Raider but it's easy to maintain. Thank you for Awesome video!😎👍
