Keeping my "winter" bike happy and clean!!
Just found this video as I have been looking for a review of this bike. I am super interested in hearing your experience with this bike as it's something I am considering. Any plans on a deep dive video into likes/dislikes, etc... 🤔 All the Best, Rob
Hey Rob, thanks for watching the vid!! Okay, yes, deep dive on the VO will be coming soon - on to the question of my impression of this bike, in short, I LOVE it.... now, most people with new bikes will say the same thing, but here's why I love this ride over all of my other bikes (carbon and steel)... comfort, plain and simple. I think the comfort comes from the wishbone seat stays; quality of steel tubing, French style forks and then running the 37 Panaracers at 40psi... the geometry is perfect for those LONG days in the saddle. I have a $15K custom steel bike which I also love, but, to be honest, I think I prefer pulling out the Rando more often than the #1 bike. Can't say enough good thongs about the VO frame and the chosen components....
Thanks so much for your time and efforts in responding to my inquiry. I appreciate you taking the time. Wow, that's a glowing synopsis of your impressions. Thanks again. Have a great one. ✌🏼, Rob
I wonder where this frames are made? Taiwan? Anyway, with the narrow frame tire spacing on the VO, given the trend toward wider tires, I think it's worth looking at the Soma Fab and New Albion frames, which are also Cr Mo "Tange" steel, with French style forks, and that will accommodate 38mm tires with fenders, or wider without. My 2¢.
Those Canadian accents sound a bit Irish to me. Nice video.
Why did the cops have their bikes lined up in the bike lane like that. Brutal.
Looks bad, I know but there was a very large Police ceremony going on with thousands of them in town to celebrate their fallen colleagues… so the roads were closed and we were lucky to get through…. Thanks for watching!
Beautiful place, enjoy.
Thanks, David... really looking forward to it...
😂now that’s funny…
Why were the police blocking the bike lane? They should get a ticket for that.
For riding, and handling Ti is by far my favourite. Ti is on a whole new level of stiffness.
I tried golf for 2 years. I never got any better so I quit. Besides, golf costs a lot of money each time you do it. It costs me one Gatorade and one HoneyBun to ride my bike.
So it goes down to a 1x1 ratio. I'd want something lower than that for long uphills tbh. Just put a triple on it and a 9-speed cassette and you're in business. 24x34 is good for long rides with lots of hills.
Weather here is all the same. LOVE IT. And only the good marriages survive poop stories. 😂
And we've had our share... thanks for watching John....
Crazy warm weather!
Bizarre!!
Do you think, going back into Golf as a road bike enthusiast is a financially responsible decision?
Hahahah.. ummm, good point.. probably not 😂
That looks like an amazing place to ride. So many other riders!
It is.. we are SO lucky to have it in our backyard…
Matty!! I love the jersey!! Sittler ?
You'd think so, right? But, Ballard in his infinite wisdom gave the #27 (which is and always should be Sittler's) to John Kordic - so, this jersey has Kordic's name on the back... you remember the Russ Courtnall for Kordic trade with the Habs??
Kordic is almost better!!! And yes Rusty!!! Do you listen to his podcast? The Suspendables. It’s pretty great.
No… but I will… thanks for watching!!
Lovely vid. Hey I was riding along the Riverside Drive path a week or so ago and you and Linda rode past going the other way. A funny UA-cam merges with life moment.
Hahaha... love it... feel free to say hi! Thanks for watching...
Keep on going Master Phu❤❤❤
Lovely story.
I'm seriously considering these shoes... Compared to the Giro empires, are these wider, narrower or similar in width? Thanks!
I'd buy them on sale, not at full price... I'd say they are similar in the toe box area to the Empires - they don't pinch like the Shimano S-Phyre's do... I find them quite comfy for a high end shoe - but not worth <$400CDN from a construction standpoint...
They are all size 42… so the length is fine on all three.. the Shimano has the tightest toe box and are very narrow.. Rapha have plenty of room up front as do the Giro’s… I have a pair of Bont Vaypor G’s and they are the widest toe box with room to spare for days… thanks for watching..
@@mylifeon2wheels1 thanks for getting back. The rapha sites recommends going up half a size in this shoe. I have Giro Imperials in 46 and fit well. Rapha doesn't make a 46.5 but might try my normal size.
How do you find the sizing between the three shoes? Are the Rapha's snug?
So you got the 38 slicks on with plenty of room it looks like, that’s cool.
Yeah… bit of a workout getting them through the calipers but it works…
Hey buddy, congrats to Lynda for 160k. I’m pretty much riding inside but so far did not see any drop outs on my assioma.
Assioma got back to me with a solution which seems to be working... so far... needed to remove any older power sensors that were loaded on the Garmin head unit.... then do another sensor search for the Assiomas... seems to be working now.
Love that colour way! I wanted to order from Atticus because of Jimmy from Cade media. But I feel like duties and shipping were preventative.
Wear. Then wash.
Yeah.. the duties hurt.. so you have to factor that into the pricing… thanks for watching!!
It’s been a minute since I commented too. Been busy biking.
Also for sunnies, I can 10 out of 10 can recommend SunGods!
Great vlog and i definitely stayed for the man cleavage 🙌🤣💪
Several comments: 1) Glad you’re back, missed your Vlog. 2) I come to see you but I stay for the cleavage. Maybe I have that backwards? 3) My athletic peak was in 1992, it’s been downhill since then. 😂
1.) Thanks.. I will do better 2.) male cleavage is my gift to you 3.) Ah, 1992.. fond memories..
Ride on!
Have a great week, only had one issue with my pedals but the tech team sorted it out very quickly.
@@davidsteel4139 thanks David… did you raise a ticket with the Assioma peeps?
@@mylifeon2wheels1 Yes, it was only a charging issue which quickly diagnosed.
How does the lens size compare between the Slendale and the Sutro? Thanks
I find the Sutro’s cover more of my face.. but that may be because the Slendale’s don’t have the same full lens design.. they are kind of angled at the bottom.. if that makes sense.. been riding them for a few weeks now and just love the look and feel..
Didnt know about the pre dry, love your video, keep it up.
PiLou!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Getting good stuff here in Canada is always a bit of a pain.
@@ScottBaker1 👍🏻 agreed..
Happy Canada Day!

Glasses…. Tough topic. Don’t you need optical lenses to read your bike computer? What’s the best practice for the typical 48 year old computer worker who needs +1.5 reading glasses but only to look at the computer? 👓Not asking for a friend.
@@KiboTennis hahahah… yeah, I could probably use some prescription lenses, but in the day light I don’t have an issue reading the Garmin head unit… I think my reading strength in my day to day glasses is 2.5!!!
Great bike! On the comfort level, how do you compare it to a modern endurance frame like Domane Sl or Roubaix Sl8?
I haven’t ridden those bikes.. but I have been on similar carbon frames and I would say steel wins on the comfort level.. just my opinion.. I have two steel bikes.. this Mariposa and a Velo Orange Rando.. both are excellent and compliant… thanks for watching!
Hahaha that title is misleading 😂 great to meet you guys there today! I was surprised to see myself on my YT feed today 😊
and with that comment, my moment in the spotlight comes to an end 🤣🤣🤣
Great video!!! I swung by the race at the end of my ride today.
"snot rockets... c'mon we all do it" very low class, I shoulda known by the tattoos. We all poop as well. Will you do that on camera next?
It's called toothpaste. Try some.
Dude comments on YT vids never fail to entertain and amaze. Love your vlogs.
Appreciate you, Kevin… thanks for watching…
.. only that she rides for coffee :-)
Thanks for sharing, John… we have chatted on an e-bike but are not there yet… I think it will be an option when we both get one…
What we learned and was a game changer for us was getting my wife and e-bike. She has an issue with nerve damage on one hip and used to only be able to ride fifteen minutes before the pain kicked in. Now with an e-bike she can go farther and faster and maintain my pace. It’s been monumental for us.
I have a couple of custom bikes and they always garner attention. The best deal is that you get to make it yours.
Old school campagnola shimano simplex huret sr stronglight friction down tube shifters ❤
My first group ride was a Cyclelogik B ride led by you. Thanks for getting me in and keeping my first experiences positive!
Was always good having you in the mix... thanks for watching and was good seeing you in the Parc... looking good!!
to much shitt chat about nuttin.
Have you tried contacting SRAM Directly or through Social Media? If this was a Wahoo issue, they'd have sent you a new one already, their support is great! Interesting that most people on the Internet complain about SRAM Front Derailleur, yet that doesn't seem to bother you as you have Lever Issues...One thing is for sure, I would not buy a new bike with SRAM AXS gruppo after seeing your journey with them...
You're right on the Wahoo front... I had a faulty HR monitor and they sent me a new one right away - didn't even have to send the faulty one back. No issues with the rest of the groupo (yet) just the current drain on the shifters. Hopefully Phat Moose can rattle SRAMs cage and get a new set installed ASAP.
WOW , mine have been going for years now , very strange
No problems at all with Campagnola Centaur 11, no electronics, rims brakes and both wrok increibly well.
I don't mean any harm to anyone, I say live and let live. But the proof of my personal perception thrills me and makes me glad when people like you realize the hard way that bicycles and "modern technology" should never mix. Bicycle was and should remain a sacred contraption which takes you away to a world of self-awareness, endurance, contemplation and sweaty stinky spandex. Far far away from your average daily routine interlaced with computers, phones, batteries, emails, TV. However, the truth is, a desire for a break from those daily routines decreased in nowadays society, which integrates dependency deeply in the bloodstream. That includes Strava junkies too. (I personally like Strava, but I'm not a junkie). As I said 10 years ago, I say it again - Leave My Bike Alone! (this is directed to "fast developing" industry which deliberately makes some common spare parts obsolete (like front mech) so they can accumulate more money, depriving customers of choice). I want to see every cable, the condition of every cable housing, I don't mind them rattle and I certainly don't find that unappealing. On contrary. I want to hear every click of my shifter and grinding if cable is not adjusted right. This is what makes me a bike fan, not a tech fan. And a rider. Maybe it sounds ultra conservative, but joke's on you. For everyone who strongly disagree, there you have dream cars now, go play with them, improve them, let them autonomously drive you to your office every day while you're building your Minecraft mansion behind windshield. "Hopefully it will not smash you in a wall at 60mph. But even if it does, don't you worry, it's just a temporary glitch, we'll fix it for you with a next software update so you can enjoy your hightec comfortable life to the fullest again... if you've survived that unfortunate mishap."
