I also wish IG or some other platform would retain those old qualities of social media, as it used to be - more slow paced and about people and stories and real art not just fast consumer focused content and following trends. I totally agree with you regarding the algorithm on instagram! I've recently returned there to see what's going on bc I've seen artists on Twitter looking for a safespace because it's been going downhill there but they don't feel like putting all their eggs on Instagram or they're also tired of the platform because of the algo. So I went back there and you're right! It's not a good place. I follow so many artists but they're not the first ones to show up on my feed. And when I post art, it's only my super close friends who like them. They're probably also the only ones who see my posts because we're friends! I TOTALLY AGREE HUMANS SHOULD watch LONGER videos. Since getting back into traditional art, turning off social media to focus on doing my art has been helping me regain my attention span. Videos like this are so helpful even when I just play it in the background. Ughhhhhh I just resonate with your thoughts about social media! As artists, we want to spend more time working on our art that has quality over quantity. Everything's so fast-paced and instant. I would totally subscribe to your newsletter. Im thinking of creating one myself just to add to my art and creative process. I think it's important to do other things that are not completely related to making art to enrich it. Hearing you say you'll probably make more effort on YT, I'm excited for it. TBH, I've kinda been waiting for an update from you since I subscribed to you here months ago. Best of luck to you!
