    Great job on the video Mark. I never even heard of an Ornate Butterfly fish. We have a few different varieties of butterfly in Southeast Florida. I See Spot Fin and Four Eyed quite often and recently saw a Banded Butterfly which are pretty rare here.

    Hello There , You would consider NOT putting your finger through the spool , safety issue here , if your DSMB gets caught in a moving object (E.G : Boat/ %JetSki ) you would get injured for sure , instead holding it between your finger would be much more safer practice

    Why can’t you your primary? My alternate is around my neck, I’m Using my long hose to inflate it. Also, you’re supposed to be able to pull it back down after inflating it.

    • @BlueHorizonDiving
      @BlueHorizonDiving 19 днів тому

      With standard scuba gear, it’s preferable to use your alternate because it’s easily available, different for you. As for pulling it back down, in what situation would you do this?

      You can feel it slightly. The reality is your air consumption increases at depth (compared to the surface) due to the increased pressure and compression of the air in the cylinder. For example, at 27m it is 3.7ata which means on average you consume 3.7x more air in comparison to the surface.

    Best way to get you 2nd stage or your fingers intangle in it. Thanks for the tip but no thanks. I'll keep inflating it by mouth and looking over my head before launching it....

    • @BlueHorizonDiving
      @BlueHorizonDiving 28 днів тому

      This wouldn’t work very well with this marker as there was no oral inflate option on it. If setup correctly, you will never get your 2nd stage tangled. On our normal dSMB we use the oral inflate option.

    The problem here is using a jacket style bcd and a weight belt. If you are renting... In the earlier days i was using rental gear and i could let my heels touch my but whilst my arms are the most straight out position possible. I would still get into a negative trim, even with the weight belt around my ribs. Move slighty forward, then its easier to stay in a neutral trim. Also try to slow down more and more to get used to the feeling Best thing would be to change to a backplate though.

    • @BlueHorizonDiving
      @BlueHorizonDiving Місяць тому

      Lots of different ways to adjust bouyancy, some things work differently for different people. I’m glad you found what worked for you, these are just some tips for people who notice they have this issue. I have a back inflation BCD and love it but can still keep trim in rental jacket BCDs and weight belts - practice makes perfect!

  • @provuksmc6619
    @provuksmc6619 Місяць тому

    Yes and no. Its not only the silicone debinder residue. Its part of it, but not the main reason. The main reason is moisture condensing. The trick is to keep something at the surface of the glass. So overpriced antifog, baby shampoo, dishwasher soap will do a pretty good job. Also spit, but you kinda have to let it dry to make it work best. But this is all useless if you wash the protective layer off with your fingers roght before the dive. Slighty rinse it, but dont run your fingers again over the layer right b4 ur dive. Bonus points if you use reef safe products.

    • @BlueHorizonDiving
      @BlueHorizonDiving Місяць тому

      Yep, all true! Those are great ways to prepare a mask before a dive, however they will continue to fog if that initial layer is not removed and that is what this video is about! I use reef safe stream 2 sea defog before a dive and that does the trick for an already prepped mask

    Absolutely amazing to see so many Grey Nurse Sharks. They were nearly pushed to the brink of extinction in the 70s & 80s. I used to fish just off Wolf Rock 30 years ago & have seen some monsters of the deep out there. In those days it was common to see False Killer Whales & once i was in a friends 17ft boat out there & a giant hammerhead just longer than the boat came & scratched its self along the side spun around in its own body length & angled its giant head down & disappeared in seconds. Not far away at Fraser my buddy & i had a White Pointer approximately 21 foot come right beneath us at the surface while we sat on Indian Head cliffs. Its sharky heaven between those two points.
