Nice video. Now at the end there... when it said F2.8 @ 800.. I noticed your camera only had shutter speed options of 500 and 1000.. So, which one would you choose in that situation of F2.8 @ 800... The 500 shutter speed or the 1000 shutter speed ?!

Can you use this on the leica m240, and if so how would you work around the ISO since with a film camera the iso is the film. Thks

I like that the readings are on the back facing you when you are aiming the camera at the subject to be photographed.

They sell aluminum show connector for$8 now. However to order for us it is 108+8 +25 shipping. So $141 and backordered for 1 month.

Still feeling good about it now that you've had it a while? I feel like i'd rather have the screen on top, so i can see it while i adjust my aperture ring, or shutter speed (most of my cameras have the settings on top) but i can see it being more intuitive to have it on the back...

A note to those asking about compatibility: This is an external lightmeter. It doesn't link up and "talk" to your camera. It's a tool for measuring light and determine the exposure you need to set on your film camera. This means you can use it with any film cameras. However, Keks have a special model with the screen inversed meant for Rollei 35, because it's hotshoe mount is at the bottom of the camera. Though this is an external lightmeter, it is built and supposed to function the same way as the built-in lightmeter in film cameras that comes with it, or DSLRs. And like all other built-in camera meters, this thing does reflective metering. If you want precise metering for studio setups, emotive portraits etc, this is not for you, go for a proper like e.g Sekonic that does incident metering. Hope this helps.

If this is a review, you should have at least mentioned the range of f-stops, shutter speed and ISO that this is capable of reading/displaying. And the angle of view of the sensor.

Is the keks EM01 light meter compatible with Nikon cameras F and F3HP? Is an adapter required to link the light meter to the camera hot shoe? Thank you.

Thanks, I had not heard of this product before. It would have been helpful to have some notion of the acceptance angle. In the top-view segments it's obvious it does not sit straight on your camera, but I assume that can be adjusted..l?

Thank you for the review, it’s very informative! The three different plastic shoes allow spares to be trimmed down for some cameras with slightly differently shaped or tight accessory shoes.

Yes, there's no other options, but the sensor is a very good one. Check here for the datasheet: www.vishay.com/docs/84286/veml7700.pdf

@@kerenaarons Hey buddy! Just got this light meter and did the same comparison you did with my Nikon F100 - and I believe I didn't get comparable metering like you have [I used a 35mm lens on my F100]. Any way to maybe reset this light meter? I wonder what if there's anything wrong as there's a big gap sometimes between both meters, and I trust my F100...

It can be used with literally any camera - it is a light meter. You could even use it hand held if you wanted to. Most film cameras wil havea hotshoe where you could place it.

@@kerenaarons Just to be clear, this meter does not require a "hot" shoe, it mounts in any accessory or "cold" shoe, as found on Barnack Leicas and many other cameras from the fifties and earlier. I'm looking forward to getting one to use with my Leicas, Rolleis, and Super Ikontas, as well as many other cameras I will acquire in the future. Thanks for the review! Andy
