IMO: (I watched them thru from beginning to end on the show), this was a perfect song to sing at Simon! “You do know or seem to care” was perfect. All he saw was money makers. Liam had the best Vocals (his voice had already finished changing), because he could go deep, mid range and higher. I’m sad that I did not know he had a solo career. I thought after he and Cheryl divorced, he had left that life behind him. Gotta look up his music. He was my favorite from auditions, Zayn, when Simon allowed him to sing (he always said he was too shy and did not sing out enough and was going to cut him at one point because he was a bully and not a mentor), had a great voice and now it is so much more, I didn’t recognize him on tracks. Harry was just coming out of voice changes and could still do the higher notes so clearly and had a strong voice... he and Zayn were always tied with me. Louis was, like the rest of them, trying to find where his voice fit in the best and is a good singer. Niall was not, at the time as good, but he benefited, as did Louis, from being in a band, but his voice had not changed. When it did, he knew how to blend with the others and do his parts stronger. This was a terrible song choice by Simon. For their ages, trying to sing a song that was done by a woman in a high range was just awkward...... when they did it after being together for a while, it was much better. It still bothers me how Simon treated them and set too lofty their goals in the beginning. He never taught them to be a band, he said figure it out or get cut. It was hard for them at first, but they figured it out and were amazing. Those earlier days and years were just too hard in them for their ages with no guidance. I wish someone would have stood up for them to Simon Cowell. Maybe they could have carried on, taking breaks to do solo things and coming back together. Maybe they would not have had so many problems if someone had stepped in. For the ages they started out with, instant fame and all the constraints put too much stress on them. I really hope and pray that young artist takeaway what happened with Liam and stop trying to heal yourself mentally with really bad things. Please, ask your friends if they are okay and don’t just take “I’m fine” for an answer when you can see that there is something troubling them. Maybe we can stop losing good people then. Liam, you deserved better!!! ❤
