Hi Phil, There was a spring in my unit, is this correct? Secondly, does this unit have a battery and if so do you have a link?
Is there a battery inside this unit?
How often do they need to be replaced? Great video! Thanks 👍🏻
Does it matter which side of the discs are oriented? Should the smooth side be up and the grooved side down?
Is there a replaceable battery, should the LED light uP?
So glad you have this information. I used it a couple years ago & again today. Sensor is working like a charm & I ordered more discs for next time.
What happens if it doesn’t work? I changed mine and the hunter sensor still shows wet.
I just replaced my disc with your kit, the rain sensor is still showing active on my pad. Any ideas?
These disks cost $10. HAHAHA almost as much as the sensor
When I click on your Ebay disc links, I receive a message, "503 Service Unavailable". Please advise? Thank you!
Sorry about that! We had to make some changes to our store recently. The links have been updated!
brass ring sticks to top even when disc are dry
Thanks for sharing this! Perhaps, is it recommended to pull these disks off and store for the winter or leave it there and isolate it in a plastic bag for instance?
It’s kind a work but not 100%. The original one are 6 disk slightly more thicker and it worked perfect. I have replaced them with 7 discs because this one are little thinner. It doesn’t matter how much rain I get on the display never goes all the way up with one lane. I tried to use 8 discs and now doesn’t matter how much sun I get it never goes all the way down. Always shows 3mm of rain or 1 lane
i need a replacement barbed spindle, in addition to the discs. do you sell the barbed spindle?
Very helpful. Thank you!!!
So the spindle that comes with the Rain Bird WR2 that the discs are on, broke near the top where they spread out. It seems that Rain Bird doesn't make a replacement and there is none that I can see anywhere. How do you replace or fix this with buying an entire new unit?
My Rain Bird WR@ senor does not have the discs inside
Hi Phil excellent video thank
How do you change the battery?
Be sure to check the battery. If it is old enough for the discs to be worn out, the battery is probably weak as well.
How can I buy a new spindle for the discs? My spindle will not stay up in the cover! Thanks, pat

So glad you sell these replacement washers - less expensive than replacing the whole unit but I may have to even do that soon because my unit came with the house built in 2002 so it's the old style with the wire antennae. QUESTION: when I took this old sensor apart there were 7 discs not 8. Is that how many the old units had? If I put on 8 it immediately turns off the receiver even at 1/4 inch? Any ideas?
If it is a Hunter sensor, most likely there was 8 discs. It could be possible that two of the discs have fused together over the years so it appears like you only have 7. Regardless, if you are having issues with it turning off way too quick, you can always try removing one of the discs. or if you have a sensor with an adjustable cap, you can just go up to the next higher setting.
I'm not sure if you are still tracking this channel but I'm missing the white portion that holds the discs. I've been looking everywhere on the internet and can't find one.
Thank you sir. Bought the discs, wasn't sure how to dismantle it to install them. Didn't want to pry on it and break it. Appreciate your tips!
our rain sensor was install in September of 21 how often do you recommend to replace the disc
Thanks very much for posting this video on the Rain Bird WR2. I ordered the discs from your web site.
These disks cost $10. HAHAHA almost as much as the sensor
@@przemo3651 The Rainbird WR2 sensor costs over $90 on Amazon. I'll take these for $10 ANY DAY!
I have a WR2 sensor and need to replace the discs but I also noticed that the spindle is broken so I need the new spindle as well. Do you sell that or is this part available somewhere else?
Thanks very much for the very helpful video AND for making it easy to obtain the discs, Mine arrived in only a few days and I installed them in 5 minutes this morning! The old ones had been there for 9 years and were indeed crapped out. We had a heavy rainstorm this afternoon and within few minutes, the big X showed up and the system was shutoff. Really thankful for your expertise being available on UA-cam for making it easy to get th discs!
Glad you got your sensor repaired!
Phil can you confirm that the test button ceases to operate if the cork discs are wet due to the expansion of the cork? I had to return a WRF-CLIK b/c of this reason. The replacement once it got wet, did the same thing. No where in the manual, nor Hunter Industries, told me this. They said the button should work even when wet. So far this has not been my experience. Can you confirm?
Hi Phil. I received the disks from your eBay store and installed per your instructions. Works like a charm. Thanks so much for your help. Great job!
Hi Phil, I ordered some washers from you today. I’ll check back after they come in. It was really easy with your links to eBay, and great UA-cam post. Thanks, Joe Edit: I received them yesterday, installed and working great !! Saved me a lot of $$
Glad to hear!
How do you change the battery?
Thanks. Odd that there is no mention of this in the user manual, you have to figure it out on your own.
I have a Wireless Solar Sync that includes Freeze Click technology. I'm guessing the Freeze Clik sensors are the small discs in the spindle button portion of the WSS? If so, how can they be accessed? They look dirty too.
Can the discs on a standard wired RAIN-CLIK (not mini) be replaced?
Yes, the stack of 8 discs can be changed out the exact same way as shown in this video.
Is there a spring under the disc ? Or it’s just so happens I had a spring appear in my work area
There is a spring under the spindle / disc / cap assembly. just drop it back in around the vertical post in the body, then put the cap assembly back in.
how do you change the battery
Unfortunately the battery is not serviceable.
The plastic rain sensor units tend to get brittle exposed to sunlight. In addition, the switch at the base of the unit which the expanded discs press on tend to wear out. I replaced the entire unit of my orbitz for 12.99. Spending a few more bucks replacing the unit may be the better way to go.
Hi. Do you have a link for the $12.99 part you bought for your Rainbird Sensor? Thanks.
I just installed the discs I bought from you and it rained this afternoon. Everything works like new again!
any way to replace the dead battery on the sensor?
No, not user replaceable
@@lowprofile2412 thanks. tho it kind of sucks... 😭
Do you have any replacement disc holders that you put the discs on? The clip broke when I pulled it out just as you did in the video.
I ordered your disks, without a washer, before I opened my sensor (it was raining). After I opened my sensor my disks were not too bad, but I could not find a brass washer. My sensor is about 3 years old. Did Hunter make some sensors without a washer?
I received my replacement discs in the mail in just a few days and took some time to understand how the rain sensor works. I took the parts out of my sensor, including the discs and the center spring . I washed the chamber out thoroughly. It was full of tiny critters and debris. You may need a tweezer to replace the spring back in the center. I placed the new hydroscopic discs on the spindle, keeping them dry. If they get wet, you will probably need to let them dry out before they will assemble properly. The way the sensor works is: when the discs get wet,, they expand, pushing the assembly down, operating a switch in the bottom of the sensor, transmitting a signal to my remote receiver next to my Hunter Irrigation controller, turning it off. My Rain-Clik works GREAT again. BTW, my sensor did not have a brass washer. Thanks!
All Hunter Sensors should have the brass disc... if you did not have one in your sensor, it must have been inadvertently left out during manufacturing. You can easily buy one at the hardware store if you want, however, it probably will work fine without on as all the rain bird, toro, and irritrol sensors do not have them and they use the same discs.
Will it also work on the wire hanging down version? Thx
I can’t find your website or eBay to purchase the discs and no one seems to stock them.
Here is the link to my ebay store: www.ebay.com/sch/southeast_irrigation_supply/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from= Let me know if this does not work for you.
It's literally in the description.... maybe you should hire someone to do this work, seems out of your abilities.
The barbed spindle part is broken on mine. Do you have this part or any suggestion on how I can replace it?
My Irrigation supply company says there's no replacement parts, this guy is a joke. Can replace the transmitter for $52 or replace the whole trans/receiver for $62, rainbird is a joke
Unfortunately with Hunter you can’t change the batteries. They are supposed to last about 10 years according to Hunter, I seen them fail after 5.
Hello, do you happen to sell the stem? An errant soccer ball did a number on the assembly
I don't have any of the stems... however, it might still work depending on how much damage the soccer ball did... did it just break the barbs off the top of the spindle, or did it break the spindle in half?
@@southeastirrigationsupply7943 I have a similar problem where the barbs are broken but the spindle is fine. If I buy the discs will they still work? Thank you
My sensor stays RED even with 10 days of no rain. Could this be the battery or discs or something else?
Could be either... IF the discs are permanently swollen, they could be holding the switch down causing it to stay off... Or it could be a battery or wireless transmission issue also. If you take the cap (with the discs) off and it goes to green, it is the discs.
How do you test battery to determine if it is toast or working? New to home with sensor installed.
