"What Happened at the Bridge". A song about the Cline Avenue bridge collapse by Ray Wagner.
Rest in peace Ray.
This is Ray Wagner performing for the first time the song he wrote about the Cline Ave. bridge collapse in East Chicago, IN. Recorded live at Deckjam in Gary, Indiana in June 1982. ( You can hear him turning the pages with the lyrics he had just written.)
He performed at many rallys in support of workers rights.
He begins the list of victims names at the 5:57 mark. I couldn't find the name of the 14th victim who died of his injuries two years later. If anyone knows, please share in the comments.

This is a music video of the assembly of the first of two tower cranes to be used in adding 24 stories to the existing 33 story building at 300 E. Randolph in Chicago. It's the first time an occupied building of this size was almost doubled in height. Song is "Looks Like Illinois" by Sons of the Never Wrong.

Kevin Riley. #14. Never came out of coma and died about 2 yrs later. About 20 yrs old and he and Stacey had their 1st baby on the way. He was the last man left in St. Catherines Hospital when I was released May 30 1982. I would wheel down to his room and hold his hand and tell him every thing I knew of what happened to us and that we were still alive and that we would make it. I left 8 surgeries after April 15 and short 1leg and also mending broken bones in clavicle, scapula, and hip. Kevin fought 2 years in a coma and eventually moved to a light that beckoned him for 2 years. God graced me just a few years ago in running into Stacey at a radiation center where she was support comfort for a friend who was undergoing radiation and most recently a few weeks ago I met a nurse who was involved with Kevin's care after he left St. Catherine. Meet people. Touch lives. Pretty sure that is what we are supposed to do on this side.
I agree. Thank you so much for sharing that.
Do you remember my dad?
