Welcome, I collect CDs, SACDs, DVD-Audio & BluRay-Audio
Music has been a huge, stable, part of my life for 50 years & I'd like to share this passion with like minded people.
I'm always looking for new music (to me) to listen to & add to my collection. I also love finding new places from which to source my music purchases.
I love championing lesser known bands / artists.
I like the physical, tangible, media where I can own a product and better support a band / artist.
I'm quite eclectic with my music tastes, although it's fair to say most of my best loved music would fall under the generic Rock umbrella... but if I like it, I like it, regardless of how it's branded!
Hopefully, we can enjoy a journey where I might show you something new, no matter how small, that perhaps you didn''t know about?
With the Music Subject'ive I want to share my love for the subject of music...
But, of course, where all music views are Subjective... Hence the name!

MUSIC Collector? Music BUYER? Love COMPACT DISCS? Welcome to my 'Music Subject'ive' Introduction.
I had that and all my Hawkwind LPs stolen
Ohh no!! Thats not good. Did you manage to replace them?
@@TheMusicSubjectiveunfortunately no. I know who stole them but the police couldn't catch a cold, I belive one good turn deserves another. As in, people behave the way they like to be treated. Their's a huge reward, no questions asked for anyone who can return everything that was taken.
Hope you get them back.
Gatefold..🎸🎸🎸💥
Those shelves are just the right for the CDs. Where did you them please?
They are from Ikea... easy to self build. Thanks for watching 😎🤘
Way back in the dark days,Lemme replaced the Bass player of the Rocking vicars before heading onto better things like Hawkwind. I had the dubious pleasure of working with the replaced Bass player many years later, needless to say he was a fan of Lemmy.
Nice!!😎🤘
Cool collection, i do collect cd's,cassette tapes, vinyls records and love some vintage HIFI stereo and 8 track tapes as well! BTW, just a suggestion, kindly pls use a tripod and never use a phone or a camera holding it by your hand! It's crazy and it's not fun to watch at all, it makes me feel dizzy and doesn't focus on the CDs, your video camera movement is annoying! Use a tripod to make it steady then focus the cd in front of the camera, in that way we can watch it better without causing a headache and we have a clear look of what cd you are showing! Or you may use a video stabilizer! It's my suggestion and opinion sir for you to have more subscribers and viewers! Cheers, Rock on!
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍 Appreciate your constructive comments... thanks again 👍😎
Es un gran album 😊😊👍
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
@@TheMusicSubjective de nada si no te gusta ese estilo dale una oportunidad es muy buen álbum con mucho poder
Long life to CD's God Save the CD
Indeed!! CD is king!! ..... and BluRay-Audio 😁🎸🤘😎
Fine Band. Always on top of their craft.
Indeed!! Arguably the best ever 3 piece band.
It was nice to see Public Service Broadcasting in your collection. I really like their stuff. I didn't see "Inform - Educate - Entertain" on your shelf, perhaps I missed it. Or their latest, "This New Noise." Both are excellent and highly recommended.
They were both in the car 😀 Great band! Thank you so much for watching.
Interesting video thanks.
Thank you!!
Stunning album. Not my favourite Rush LP but close. Big memories of it coming out and discussing it in class!
Always a close call with favourite Rush albums as Moving Pictures, Hemispheres, 2112 could all be up there.
@@TheMusicSubjective Exactly, I think Moving Pictures just about scrapes through as my favourite. BTW I bought Closer To The Heart on a 12" single when it first came out, a while before I got the LP. Three amazing tracks on the B side: Bastille Day, Anthem and The Temples of Syrinx... designed as an entry point to the band for a lot of customers. Xanadu was my fave track on Farewell to Kings. Much better than the ELO/Olivia Newton-John cover, don't you think? :)
That’s a blast from the past! I bought this when it came out and I think it was heavily discounted.
Didn't you buy it at that Rock Auction as well (when Gary bought Alex Lifeson's guitar?)
No, Downtown in Basildon
Good ole Downton 😎🤘👍
Yuck 🤮🤢 Hagar sucks
I like Saxon and they were one of the first bands that got me into listening to rock through their Denim & Leather album with classics such as Princess of the Night and Never Surrender. On the other hand I have found a certain sameness in recent albums (though still good). The latest Def Leppard album is the only studio album of theirs that I do not yet own. Again I prefer the earlier stuff, though Songs from the Sparkle Lounge was a good one. Cheers and enjoy!
I remember seeing Saxon playing in small clubs on London before their first album was released. I also saw Def Leppard supporting Sammy Hagar in London plus saw tgem booed and canned at Reading Rock Festival in 1980. Thanks so much for watching and commenting 👍
Memories! $2 trips🤪 & hAWkWiNd. Those were the daze…
Great band and album. Thanks for watching and commenting.
My tastes overlap with your tastes, and with the way you collect cds. Actually I say I collect music I like and CD is the format I have chosen.
Good to hear!! Thanks for watching and commenting. Much appreciated 😊
Gary Moore yees!
Long overdue some more Gary Moore 😄 Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
@@TheMusicSubjective I have a lot of Gary Moore vinyl..I also have a lot of CDs, Gary. There is also this Japanese edition,
Excellent!! 🤘🎸
Found the original cd in Discogs and got the vinyl from a friend who wanted to get rid of it ...
You done well there! Thanks for watching and commenting 🙂
I had it...once.😢
Still get it on CD. Remastered, expanded version 😊
Brilliant lyricist great music, and so to was/is Hawkwind
Couldn't agree more. Thanks for watching and commenting. Very much appreciated 😎
G for germany
Ha!! Brilliant!! Is that.... make up you're wearing? 😄
Great fun with a couple of stonking Hawkwindesque tracks that really do motor! I bought my copy as an an ex review freebie from Cheapo Cheapo records in Soho,!
Very Hawkwindesque... but then most of Hawkwind feature on the album as well 😊 Thank you so much for watching and commenting
Brilliant album :)
That it is.... Anybody want to buy a Starfighter... then just buy an acre of ground and wait' 😄 Thank you so much for watching and commenting 😊
@@TheMusicSubjective Strangely enough I am actually making this right now for my man cave. I have 1/144, 1/72 and 1//48 scale Starfighters, the first two are finished. When mounted on a picture of the sky I have, one wingtip on each minus its tip tank, will be fitted into slots on the board creating an image of all three banking over :).
Excellent!! Be great to see a photo when all done.
@@donk1822Just have something soft on the floor when they fall down 😂
🤣
Bloody right mate frankly banging album for sure one if their right best
It never ages either imo
Agreed. Every single track is a straight up perfect banger. Together with Steely Dans Aja Its my personal favourite album of all time.
AJA... what an album.
My very first concert was the Rush 2112 tour
What a tour to go to. My first Rush gig was Farewell to Kings tour.
@@TheMusicSubjective Thats the one, Farewell to Kings. Opening bands UFO n Max Webster. They put on a hell of a show
Max Webster!! ... what a truly underrated band.
Rush was the best. Blessed to have been able to see them live a dozen or so times.
Same here... over several tours up until their last (in the UK anyway)
My childhood, Rush and Kiss .... what a ride.
I only got to see Kiss for the first time in 2019... I'd missed so much
My first rush album too
Its not a bad start is it? 😀🎸🤘
Very nice storage. Glad you are not showing a massive collection some people do have. May as well be a walk thru 'Tower Records' if so.
Well I do love vinyl, but I prefer CDs now out of convenience. I personally don't want every possible version of The White Album, every edition of Iron Maiden's first album... for example... I just, generally (other than for the reasons I'd stated in the video) want one copy of an album. It's the music really that matters to me, not the multiple versions of it. Each to their own though. Thank you so much for watching and your great comment 😊🤘🎸
I spotted the UFO Strangers in the Night spine as soon as the vinyl came into view!
Part of the soundtrack of our youth 😁
@@TheMusicSubjective Not 'arf!
😎🤘
Discogs lists the iron maiden live album at around (including postage-the price to get it in my hand) 40-100$. So cool that you are on the cover mate!
Thanks for looking that up. Being on the cover is the main reason I bought it. It cost me £4.99 in the early 80s when I bought it 😁
At 14.55 you say that “there’s no version of Rock Bottom that’s been done that doesn’t surpass anything that Michael Schenker’s done”…. That means all versions that have been done have surpassed it? Would you like to retract this statement? 😂
🤦🏼... Ah! A grammer slip... You knew what I meant 😁
Great collection. Excellent video Phil
Thanks.... abd tganks for watching 😊
Good video mate. Some beauties in there.
Thanks mate!!
Great stuff...Sweet Fanny Adams here...and Australian band Skyhooks
Thanks for coming onboard 😁
Anthrax also covered Trust's Sects which appeared on both Penikufesin and Attack of the Killer B's.
Thanks for the info. So many cover versions out there...
Judas Priest’s cover of Diamonds & Rust was on their, “Sin after Sin”, album not “Sad Wings of Destiny”.
Just testing that someone is listening 😃.... Schoolboy error on my behalf!! 🤦🏼😳
Sorry for pointing this out; but Judas Priest would have been my specialist subject if I had been on Mastermind😂.
No problem mate... it'll teach me for relying on memory and not double checking, especially as I have both albums on vinyl 😃🤦🏼 I appreciate you pointing it out... 👍🏻🤘🎸
Love the i-Ten album Phil. You missed out Heart's cover of Romeo's Daughter's 'Wild Child' and Metallica's cracking cover of Bob Seger's 'Turn The Page'. Other notable obscure covers:- Tina Turner - 'Better Be Good To Me' (Original band - Spider) Bon Jovi - 'She Don't Know Me' (Original band - La Flavour) Bon Jovi - 'Shot Through The Heart' (Original band - Surgin') Hardline - 'Hot Cherie' (Original band - Danny Spanos)
So many to cover mate!! (excuse the pun 😁) Another video another day 🤘😊😎
Just discovered your channel and subscribed
Thank you so much.... 😁🤘👍🏻 I returned the compliment.
I'd stack up on physical music while you can as prices will rocket in the next year ahead. CD'S are reasonable now but watch this space.
I keep on buying weekly anyway!! I'll do what I can to keep physical media alive 🙂 Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻🤘
I hope you're right but I'm not so sure. Those of us of a certain age would rather own LPs and CDs ... but I think the younger generations regard music as more 'throwaway / disposable' and are just not as interested as we were.
I have about 5k cds. Love my collection
Any particular kind of music you like collect? Its a great pastime collecting the music we love and discovering new music. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻🤘😊
@TheMusicSubjective oh. I got my prog rock metal fusion section, instrumental guitar Shrapnel artists etc section, blues artists section, Hard rock, Metal Thrash etc sections, indie alt grunge rock, classic hiphop underground section, singersongwriters, jazz funk misc, punk hard-core rap rock nu metal... just a lot of awesome bands to the soundtrack of life that I enjoy. One week or few days all one band...a few a day etc. I just went through my Hootie Blowfish Counting Crowes for a few days, then new Rage and last few Rage albums, ...I also listen to a lot of my own music to balance it out. Fazes....Metal to hiphop to anything I feel at the moment. Love it.
@UNIQUEtheMC A real eclectic mix there... best way to do it. I go on the premise of if I like music, I like it, regardless of how it's branded or genre its labelled as... That being said Rock based music is my favourite but of course that's wide ranging in itself.
RIVERSIDE? I think you meant Opeth being a more death metal band that changed it up...working with Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree.
Yes Opeth and Riverside took similar paths in changing their styles. Early Riverside music was growly vocals.
It all started with my dad playing The Beatles and my mom playing The Rolling Stones. And anny music from 60s, 70s ... my dad had a pirateradio in our livingroom also ...
Oh wow!! Great memories
Two alltime top 10 albums
Never a bad choice 👍🏻🤘😀
Awesome
Its a great boxset.
Went to a HMV in Antwerp and the prices there were skyhigh. I have a small store in Namur (Belgium) where I go often with very very nice prices. Had a triple vinyl from Rory Gallagher for 50€, it should've been round 80 or so normally ...
Nice bargain. I tend to use HMV for their Sales... they do have a good deals and quite competitive with Amazon in the UK.
キャメルはプログレハードの最高峰だと思います🎉
They are truly one of the best but unfortunately never included as part of the Godfathers of Prog... but obviously, we know better 😃 Thanks for watching and commenting.... much appreciated
I was at Reading Festival 1974 and discovered Camel on their Mirage tour, followed them ever since. Thanks for your review, all the best...keep listening ❤
Discovered them way before me then. I hot into them around 1978 but I didn't get to see them live until around 2018.
@@TheMusicSubjective True but makes me old, i was 19 in 74!
Never old... just mature and experienced 😃🤘
I clocked the Lucifer's Friend CD on the floor pile. I just bought that myself about a month ago it's awesome, from having a quick listen to their other stuff I'm not as keen but that particular album is great. When people ask about my music tastes nowadays I say I'm genre non-specific or genre fluid lol.
I have a number of Lucifer's Friend albums on both CD & vinyl. They changed their style a bit as years went by, and I quite like that. The first album is still one of the best though. Sneak me In is also a great album but more in the 80s melodic rock style. I love your genre analogy 😀.... too many genre snobs out there. I really appreciate you watching and commenting 🙏👍🏻🤘😁
I was the same with ‘Camel’ and Irish Tour ‘74 (Rory)… so different but equally enthralling.
Thanks for watching. I love Camel, in fact just completed my next video of the latest Camel Deluxe Boxset!! Should be published in the next couple of days 👍🏻🤘😃
