I got surgery from Dr. Mosser in SF. I talk about the healing process for me and discuss some nerve irritation causing raw/tender pain in the skin of my chest. Feel free to ask questions!

Talking about Top Surgery (1 week post-op) - Dr. Mosser
Переглядів 3,1 тис.7 років тому
Talking about the process of getting top surgery, fears and worries beforehand, what the day of was like, and what the week after has been like (this before I got the dressings and binder taken off at my post-op appointment). I have two partners, just for clarification. My partner Riley comes in towards the end of this video! I got surgery from Dr. Scott Mosser in San Francisco. Please feel fre...
I had my surgery 3 days ago with Mosser. I didn't know it was Valium. I passed out immediately from that as they were rolling me away (before anesthesia) and I had to be placed on the operating table
Wow. That comment from Dr. Delgado made me make a disgusted noise out loud irl, thank you for sharing that so people can avoid him (although I'd hope five years later he's changed)
Thank you very much for this, having one in 3 days with Dr.Mosser in the midst of all this COVID and I was (and am still) very nervous about getting sick :/ It still doesn't feel real haha
Wow, congratulations!! Hope you have a swift recovery! Can't wait to get one in like 5 years cause I'm too young :(
I'm going through doctor mosser as well, but he did say something that kinda made me like eh. He said something on the lines of "your chest looks perfect for top surgery" and although its probably a harmless comment, me showing him pictures of my chest and that being uncomfortable didnt really help the situation. I'm still going through him though and his results look great.
Congratulations! So you didn’t need anything but the letter from a therapist with the diagnosis of gender dysphoria? Are you on T? Did you have to have lipo along with top surgery to acquire the masculine look? How big were you prior to surgery? Sorry about all the he questions but I’m considering Mosser as well. Thank you for all the helpful info!
Hi there! Sorry I just saw this. Yup, just the one letter, and that I only needed for insurance. I wasn't on T when I got top surgery, but I started a year or so post-op, and now I've been on for over a year. One of my later videos has me 2 yrs post op, 3 months on T! I didn't have lipo along with top surgery, and I was about a C cup. He did ask to make the incision connect in the middle of my chest to avoid any dog-earing there. And also he gave me the option to have drains or not and I forewent having them! Everything healed fine.
I assume you flew over there? How long did you have to wait to recover until flying back?
Privileged Wolf I live about an hour and a half from SF so I actually drove. My partners and I stayed in a hotel the night before and the night after and then they drove me home.
@@westmossgrove6761 is it possible to hop on a train from Dr. Mosser's center to where I live an hour away on the same day as the surgery, or do I have to stay overnight?
Kelli Suzuki I didn't have to stay overnight! I was pretty groggy when I woke up, they brought me out to the car in a wheelchair and my partner drove. So I think you would need some help to get from the center to the train station, but I think you would be able to go home the same day.
@@westanderson8933 Wow, thank you so much for that! That's very helpful, especially coming from a soon-to-be poor-ass college student needing to save by avoiding hotel costs.
Why do you have one connected incision rather than two incisions?
Meccarox There was some tissue between my breasts that Dr. Mosser thought might dog ear if he left it, so he asked if he could go all the way across.
Hey does dr. Scott mosser charge for his consultations???
He didn't for me! I did a consult over the phone, idk if an in person consult would cost anything.
West Anderson ya im in Florida
I plan to get top surgery from Dr. Mosser in a few years when it becomes an option for me. I haven’t been able to see many results from those who have gone to him, so this was very helpful and I really appreciate it!! Your chest looks great!
I'm so glad it was helpful!
I really appreciate all the details, it’s nice to know what the step by step process is 💕
aw this is awesome, congrats friend (: i just had mine done by Mosser in December!! so trippy to see someone else in the same exact room lol!
You said that your surgery was paid for through your school insurance, what school do you go to? if you don't mind me asking... I will be attending USF in the fall and if this is an option for me I'd like to know
Sorry to reply to this so late, I don’t know why I didn’t see it. I went to UCSC, at least when I did it all the UCs pay for transition related care with a referral from a doctor and letter from a therapist.
Thanks for the upload! I've got some fears about top surgery and this was informative. Ever thought of doing vlogs?
I'm glad this was helpful to you! I don't think I'm much for frequent vlogging, it makes me a bit anxious to put my face/voice out there on video as opposed to regular ol' text blogging. But I'm planning to do one of these types of videos every additional month I'm post-op to talk about how it's going. Is there anything in particular you'd like me to talk about in a future video?
hi there!! thank you so much for posting this video, my top surgery consult is next month and i'm watching stuff to prepare for it! plus its awesome seeing/hearing the experience of a fellow not-transman-person :) may i ask why you didn't need drains? did your doctor explain that? i am really freaked out by the drains but nothing else really and i'd love to know how/if i can avoid them haha
Hi Everett! Basically my surgeon said it was up to me! He said there was an increased risk for fluid collecting under the skin but if that happened I would go into his office and he would extract it for me. He said he thought I would be fine though because I am thin. I'm not sure what the difference is between being thinner vs fatter for risk of fluid collecting unfortunately, I just took his word for it. But I didn't have any problems not having drains! No fluid collecting, nothing I needed to go in to get taken care of.
West Anderson that’s good to hear because I’m freaking out about getting drains but also am interested in Dr. Mosser! :)
hi! thank you so much for uploading this video, im a transman looking into getting top surgery with dr mosser, and im from NY and all this info was super helpful, so, yes, thank you!!! just wondering what procedure you got done, as i dont think you mentioned it in the video?
seth laxman yes of course! I got double incision. Let me know if you have any other questions :) also dr. Mosser just launched a new website dedicated to trans-related surgery at genderconfirmation.com and that might provide more info abt dr mosser in particular.
