What happens if Marcus escapes? Do you still not get the ambush/invasion when you talk to Isobel?

And why exactly didn't you use Gale and Laezel in your first attempt? You know you can select them (by F3, F4) and move them in to join the conflict, right? With the additional advantage of them not being surprised having been standing further when conflict started... Ps. Oh, they were surprised, not outside the conflict....

Thanks for doing this - it was interesting to see what happens if Marcus is disposed of earlier. Being honest, I find Isobel sarcastic and rude to the player at this point of the game (perhaps understandably). She also wears a bit too much eye-shadow in my opinion, her face resmbling a panda.

With the Grove safe, and the Tieflings alive, i've never seen Marcus prior to visiting Isobel. My most recent playthru (i have several on-the-go) i didn't even talk to Isobel. If you have the Pixie blessing from the Drider's lamp, you don't need to at all as it is the stronger protection.

If you don't want to waste a feat on Alert, then Elixirs of Vigilance will work just as well. (Of course, it only lasts a long rest, and won't let you use other elixirs like hill/cloud giant strength at the same time). You can buy some from Stonemason Kith in the Grymforge, or craft some using parts taken from Hooked Horrors in the Underdark or Oubliette if you want to visit Moonrise before Last Light for some reason. I think the bugs here may have been due to trying to loot Marcus's body before talking to Jaheira again. Flaming fists really don't like looters.

A year later and we're stll finding unique dialogs! So many possible angles the designers and writers had to cover! Remarkable!!
