Roller Coaster Model made of LIGHT
This is the full explanation of the latest project I've been working on for the past 6 months... a roller coaster model with trains made of light that travel through the layout.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

    I know you made this video ages ago, but is there anywhere for a tutorial for the lights, where they go and how you programmed them. I want to try and re-create this myself with a different ride, great build!

    this is really cool even though the speed is unrealistic. the shape is really refined and smooth, the layout is really nice and the supports are extremely realistic. I am aware that it is really difficult to get a working model roller-coaster that works like they do in real life but if you can make one that'll be next-level!

    • @TristanZamudioOfficial
      @TristanZamudioOfficial 21 день тому

      I think the speed is actually much more realistic than most model coasters, because remember, it’s supposed to be a representation of something much larger. If real roller coasters covered as much track in the amount of time as K’nex coasters, that would be hundreds of g-forces on the rider. The slow speed of this model represents how it would look in real life.

    NOT a roller coaster, but a powered track ride. Doesnt count.

    thats not a rollercoaster thats just a train at that point. if you can control a rollercoaster train then it defeats the whole perpose of a rollercoaster.

    This is awesome. Do you think you could build me a suspended one? I’ll pay obviously.

  • @CharlesRoseman
    @CharlesRoseman 6 місяців тому

    Do you think you could build a simple suspended coaster? 40x70in 18 in tall. Motorized but not on the back. On the track. A little bit larger. I’d pay nicely actually. For someone who knows how to print it shouldn’t be hard.

    Is the physics simulation pre programmed, like having a table of speed at a given time?

    • @jonmendenhall5074
      @jonmendenhall5074 Рік тому

      Essentially yes, but it uses a target position and velocity at each point in time. It uses the position as the primary set point and then velocity is just extra information to keep the motor generally spinning at the speed it's expected to when following the plan.

    • @geforcefan2007
      @geforcefan2007 Рік тому

      @@jonmendenhall5074 very interesting. I am also working on a real time simulation via accelerometer where I figure out the current direction vector of a train and calculate its current velocity and feed it into a function which gives the new velocity which can be used to rotate the motor.
