'Late for the sky' guitar arrangement - intermediate+ tutorial
Переглядів 6 тис.2 роки тому
This is an intermediate level tutorial for my guitar arrangement of Jackson Browne's classic song, 'Late For The Sky'. Please note this is not a 'note for note', 'pick for pick', tabulated tutorial - rather, it's a detailed look at my arrangement where I play through the whole song once, then again slowly pointing out what I think are the chord transitions and fingering for key parts. There's n...

It's not almost better it's going in a wonderful swing and you remade this song your own.Beatiful
thanks
Hello Colin, you've forced me to write one of my first comments on UA-cam. Your version is simply wonderful and leaves me speechless. Bravo, unfortunately my guitar skills aren't good enough to learn your version. I'll stick with a simpler accompaniment. Thanks a lot. Matze
Perfect. Gotta get this song down for a wedding. Thanks for your work.
This is so good. Thank you. I’ve wanted to play this for years. Such lovely inner voice movements on those latin chord sections.
Great tone on your Taylor ! What model and what strings do you use? Thanks ,in advance!
@@fredzara4072 hi. It's a 814CE with elixir 12-53 nanoweb strings 👍
hey. As previously stated, great video. I’m a bit confused. Are you referring to the A string as number two and the low E string as string number one?
@@ericleyton4153 Eric, hi. Yes, I am I'm afraid... 😲 An old (and incorrect) habit ... In this video, low E is 1, high E is 6. 🥴
Wow it's my one favorite song ❤
So good!
Really enjoyed this… many different ways of playing it but yours is full of embellishments! What version did you base this on??
Thanks man. Great version of this beautiful song. Slowly working thru it! Great voice too
Amazing singing and playing brother!! Thank you so much for this tutorial!
I’ve noticed this too. Any fix?
Very well done. Sometimes when someone does a cover like this it’s hard to listen to because it’s stylistically incorrect or awkward sounding, but man, you did really well, easy to listen to, smooth. As a long time Taylor fan and I played this song years ago and just needed a refresher, but you gave me so much more than that , so thanks!!
i just opened the pdf and found some lyrical errors and thought i'd provide the correct ones...there's just a few minor errors(no pun intended, but go ahead and laugh ANYways) but the actual lyric is more powerful, imo...thanks again for selflessly providing the video and expertise, colin. The sky was light and the land all dark The sun rose up over Central Park I was walking home from work Gaia The petal sky and the rosy dawn The world turning on the burning sun Sacred wet green one we live on Gaia Run, run, run, run said the automobile and we ran Run for your life, take to your heels Foolish school of fish on wheels Gaia Turn away from your animal kind Try to leave your body just to live in your mind Leave your cold cruel mother earth behind Gaia As if you were your own creation As if you were the chosen nation And the world around you just a rude and Dangerous invasion Gaia Someone's got to stop us now Save us from us, Gaia No one's gonna stop us now We thought we ought to walk awhile So we left that town in a single file Up and up and up mile after mile after mile We reached the tree line and I dropped my pack Sat down on my haunches and I looked back down Over the mountain Helpless and speechless and breathless Gaia Pray for the forest pray to the tree Pray for the fish in the deep blue sea Pray for yourself and for God's sake Say one for me Poor wretched unbeliever Someone's got to stop us now Save us from us Gaia No one's gonna stop us now
thank you SO much for the time/energy you put into this...and pedantic, no. thorough, yes...all of which the song is worthy of...thanks again.
really great... a few bpm's too fast but very good
OMG!! Perfect!!! ❤❤❤❤
Thank you for sharing this. You capture the feel of this beautiful song perfectly.
Thank you Colin! Always wanted to see a guitar arrangement for this most beautiful song. Your arrangement is exquisite and could stand alone as an instrumental, but your vocals add even more to it. Thanks again for the inspiration!
Jolie chanson
Wow❤
amazing thank you, which guiter do you play?
Hi. It's a Taylor 814CE with the stock pickup
Check out our transatlantic collaboration of this song with my friend Amy front Nashville a few years ago ua-cam.com/video/mUlhKVbVQN4/v-deo.htmlsi=JDh17b7i9JlhMd56
Wow, you play this beautiful song, so well! Thank you for that!
Wow! Thanks so much for sharing this. Very well done. I have some practicing to do now. A lot of practicing.
Colin this is my favorite song……you are a fine player. And singer…..
Looks challenging but doable. Thanks so much for putting this up on UA-cam.
This is just beautiful. By any chance has anyone created a tab of it at this point? I know the question was asked of Colin earlier, but maybe since then? There are some parts I just can't tell about. Beautiful job
Pray TO the trees. :) Great job Colin. Beautiful. Thank you.
Beautiful
This is the most beautiful guitar playing I’ve heard in my 73 years!
Hi Colin Really appreciate the effort you’ve made on this song. Beautiful chords and progressions. Very nice easy pace here. I thought it would a bit much to follow but it’s all falling into place! Have you got 12s on the guitar? Many thanks
Hi and thanks. I think they were 12/53s (Elixir Nanoweb)
Colin, Three years on from the time you made this recording, I wanted to thank you. First for the fantastic lesson of one of the most beautiful guitar pieces I’ve heard. To be able to share it as I’m doing makes me incredibly satisfied. Second, thank you for your introduction. Health care providers the world over would applaud if they heard your unselfish and graceful thoughts.
Thanks Gary. Wow... 3 years ago - doesn't seem that long ago in my head... 👍
Excellent 🎉
Sounds amazing! Such a great tone to your voice! Very warm and soothing! Thanks for sharing your talents! Keep up the great work!
Nice!
Very nice! A different version than I’ve learned before. Also chuckled at the slight difference in lyrics from the way I learned them. You sang the line as “I start to sweat, and that’s when I get…”. I learned it as “We stop to pet, and that’s when I get…”. Probably younger folks wouldn’t get the old fashioned term “petting” 🤣! Thanks for this tutorial.
I am very critical of online lessons. this is exactly my speed. not too slow. not too fast. accurate. clear.

Im not a Reaper user (at least not yet anyway) but this looks really good. Does this theme have true stereo panning (as in dual panning) in it like Logic does rather than just balancing or?
Hi. Reaper has dual pan built-in, so it's available in all themes :-) Just rt-click on a track's pan knob and select it from the dropdown
@@ColinDaviesSinger perfect, thank you that's such a helpful reply 😊
@@ColinDaviesSinger P.S. ooh one quick other question, is any information lost at all (in general I mean) when switching themes? I realise not everything will necessarily display (buttons etc?) But actual information like automation or any settings at all etc? For instance if something is not displayed when switching theme (mid-project) will that information associated with it be lost or retained? Thanks for your time L
Is it possible to automate MIDI/VST Instrument Mute toggling in Reaper? My current DAW doesn't have this option.
hi. Yes. You can automate *all* exposed parameters for a VST (of which there can be a LOT), including the BYPASS parameter, which every plugin has, and which can be switched on/off with an automation envelope. Check out this GIF where you can see the bypass envelope for an instance of Dimension Pro being turned off and on (effectively muted) - drive.google.com/file/d/1vZJ5a2dyiJIyfLLpjWUvQPTs95J3Ch0E/view?usp=drive_link
Great tutorial, deeply moved and inspired, thank you thank you !
do you teach
Hi. I'm afraid not 🙄
This theme is aswam but it's not available for India .. I'm form india.. so how I can download it plzz hlp me
You can donate to the theme creator, Blankfiles (in the Cockos Reaper forum). He may take a while to get back to you as he works in a remote mine, I believe, with no Internet for days at a time. You can get the link to donate on the theme forum thread here: forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=214879
