People upset I play with. pick but I notice that the same people are never upset by bass players using their fingers to cover the works of bas players who are pick players.

Back in the day I thought I knew Critical mass but seeing Dan play it it's something other then what I was doing. That was a real different one for us. Note the 4 to 5 different styles all on one song.

@@SanitysVoid Yeah I heard elements of Judas Priest HEAVY METAL, NWOBHM, Thrash Metal, Speed Metal, Progressive and even a touch of Van Halen in there. That's my interpretation at least.

Valid observations. Probably the last song I wrote before being exposed to Sepultura. Much of it is hard to hear the riff details because it's a rehearsal recording.

If that I the tone you need then sure. If the other Jacksons have a better tone for you generally more Bassey then you get 24 frets with the other concert basses. I paid 900 I would not want a refund.

I have the CBV IV that retails at $650. Tone has zero difference and playability is the exact same as this. I use it live and love it more than any instrument I own. Big difference with this one in the video is a full body neck that’s painted silver and silver headstock (which is neat, I suppose). Also different pickup configuration but the EMG pickups in the regular CBX are aggressive as possible. Just my thoughts.

I used no chorus but that effect is all over the recording. The song can be done with one finger so it's mostly all I use. I was suffering from the effects of my fingers being a little raw from all the practice session for the song and I think that encouraged me to skip the other finger when I could. The bass is a MIM 2015

@@SanitysVoid Okay that makes perfect sense in all regards. I know what it feels like to play a bassline out of our comfort zone takes hours and sometimes weeks. On a side note I'm guessing you have tried the Ultex Plectrums or maybe not. Anyway they sound great because what ever material they make them with there's absolutely no scratchy overtone or that clicking noise bassist get from using the regular Dunlop picks. It's the best of both worlds the attack of plectrum with low clean thud of finger style combined. That's all got take care.

@@danadane2501 I mean I just go from fingers to pick. I never think of trying to get a pick that sounds like fingers.

Thanks. I think I got a note or two wrong at the one minute mark tho it sounded on at the time when using my ear against the Isolated bass track. Other than that I am very happy with it especially the snappy intro. People like to accuse me of buying Ellefson's gear and sounding like him only I first heard Hartke in 1986 and instantly wanted it to be my gear but could not afford it the time. It was years later that Ellefson adopted my gear LOL IF I sound like him it's because we had a similar path in learning the bass. Mel Bay books and I started playing in 1984 not too many years after he did.

​@SanitysVoid also just read your comment about the surgery. That's real tough, I can't imagine being put up for that long and then told not to play certain types of music. I don't imagine a higher strap height would help? I know David Ellefson said his doctor recommended a higher strap height when he was having wrist complications.

I had to pull a dormant retirement account just to scrape by. my work won't let me return till I can work full duties. I will be out a good 39,000 dollars before I can work again. needless to say I won't recover from that loss before I can retire. I don't see any new basses in my future

@@vincentmasterbassist6784 Can't play I had surgery on my left shoulder. no play for another 8 weeks and then they said no death metal. you can make a green screen with hartke amps for a parody

I did a few off the defenders album not that one tho. As for the bass, they are pretty entry level, I don't recommend but for practice. I sold mine a few years ago.
