The dude Steve Hunt did a great job of explaining almost like a college professor, giving his students a lecture/lesson to his audiences both his UA-cam fans and any social media platforms like Facebook. The more I watched the more I wanted to watch more. Well done, KUDOS, go to Steve for this wonderful video. Note: Having just moved here to Quartzite three days ago, I was curiously interested in finding videos like this on UA-cam. NOTE TO STEVE IF HE SEES MY POST: There IS a way to eliminate/remove that really irritating wind noise, ask me how, because although I loved your video (more your knowledge and presentation), and watched it to the end, I can guarantee you that you lost all the viewers with PRSD after the first few minutes.

This would be an interesting video if you could clean up the wind noise from it. It’s very disconcerting trying to listen to the man talk! Hurts my head....

Amazing lecture! This has helped me so much. I am new to the hobby first I got a Tesoro Compadre just to try out detecting. Loved it bought an AT Max ( best I could afford). I was having a lot of trouble with crazy signals. I had my sensitivity maxed out. Now I will head out with all of your advice. Hopefully this makes me a better detectorist. Thank you so much. Look forward to more videos like this.

Why not leave the gold nugget in the host rock its worth more especially if you can see it now if you couldn't see any of the gold then yes I do what did !!!! Because they're are collectors that want it in the rock and will pay more for it !!!!

thank you guys! I'm fairly new at detecting and was out close to Mayer yesterday with my gpx 4000 and 18" mono elite. I did not realize that you could still have any depth and sensitivity with the gain so low as you spoke of. I got the machine to quiet down at 9 on the gain but I could only get very noticeable targets because I got a constant low faint Target signal,I should have cranked it down a few..🤔

i did not hear you mention bountyhunter detectors i agree they are cheaper but that makes them a good investment for a beginner that way if they don't like detecting or don;t have the patience for it they have not spent a small fortune on a machine. but i don;t use headphones and my machine is dead quiet till it hits a target.but on a cheaper machine there is no ditgital screen just a analog meter. i detect totally by the sound the target causes. i can discriminate out nails without loosing ay coins but if i discriminate out aluminum i lose nickels. so therefore i am lost when you are talking about a background hum cause i don't have 1.

I want to thank you for posting this video. I just came back from Morristown, the GPAA claims. I was finally able to set my detector to where the threshold was audible! I would have never been able to do this without your guys help. I used my Tesoro Lobo and Minelab X-Terra 70 and both worked great. I didn't find gold yet but I feel very confident I will now.
