I just can not get my head around, Where they state there is a shortage of Recruits, Yet they have more than this volunteering but having to wait a year to jbe called up ? Your education is important, If you have great education results apply to the Admiralty Interview Board for officer status NOT the recruting office they will sign you up as a rating Difference an Officer is on much much higher income and is served by a steward A rating gets a stainless steel multi sectioned tray and you go along the dinner server getting a splodge of whatever into each compartment, You do your own washing and domestic chores and only two tins of beer a day An officer is served silver service with wine by a steward who makes up his cabin and clothes and a bar bill

Crazy man, Kit List, When I joined in 1960, I arrived in St Vincent Gosport, Read the articles and signed up, ALL our clothes were put in the case we arrived with, then it was shower, full hair shave, and then supplied with everything Underwear, sewing kit, toothbrush and paste , razor and blades, full Naval uniform, boots shoes sandals, gym shoes all clothing you could ever need except tropical whites they were issued when you had passed out
