Keep Lying For IGN, Right
IGN just sucks at criticizing And that's a fact.
"Nosferatu' is a parody of 'Dracula'" - huh? No sir, it's not a 'parody' of anything at all...If you're referring to the 1922 classic film it's certainly not a parody of Dracula - Murnau and company were unable to secure the rights for 'Dracula' so they used the ancient Eastern European word for 'vampire' - 'nosferatu' - for the title of his film "Did you know there's a cowboy from Texas in Dracula? that's a crazy character to have in a Dracula book" - triple huh? Bram Stoker (not 'Stroker') actually wrote 'Dracula', the first and only book with that title so he had the creative liberty to have cowboys, plumbers, belly dancers, or any other characters he felt inspired to write into his book. As another commentator said I too admire your enthusiasm and appreciate the effort - your work might benefit by more research and understanding of the subject
@@LarryPerkins78 and as I told the other commenter my pronunciation skills aren’t alway the best. But if we're gonna dissect my exact words here's what I said:"Basically it was an unauthorized, I wouldn't say parody. Kind of parody of Dracula" and I said that mainly cause it’s kinda silly to watch. Hard to put my mind in the perspective of 100yrs ago. I'm aware it's supposed to be an adaptation of Dracula, and its film history significance. It was made clear in Shadow of the Vampire. And I read the entire book of Dracula just for this video. That’s gotta count for something. But everyone here has made some points, and I’ll take them into consideration. I don't necessarily consider my channel for educational purposes. I'm just sharing my initial thoughts and cracking jokes. And if that's not for some then I guess I'm not the channel for them. And yea it is pretty wild there is a cowboy in it. Prob my fav character tho, rip Quincey Morris 🪦
N '79 is one of the very FEW remakes that I actually like (along with Invasion of Body Snatchers 78, The Thing 82, and Scarface 83). In fact, I think its really pathetic that THAT movie is over forty years old and remains generally overlooked, while that NEW one got hyped through the freaking roof before it was even released.
79 still might be my fav out of all the versions. It has a charm to it I can’t describe
finally an in-depth intellectual review-
The original nosferatu has different coloured tints on it. They couldnt film at night due to the logicistics of lighting and fairly primitive cameras so what they did was film everything dyring the day and then would put a blue tint over the scenes. A lot of the releases on youtube omit these which causes confusion
@@padraigpearse1551 appreciate the lore drop
Did you research for this video? Even a cursory search of interviews would’ve answered your questions… 🤦🏽♂️ Orlock was a Transylvanian nobleman from the 15th century. All those dudes had mustaches.
Orlok speaks Old Dacian in this, which is the native language to the region that would eventually become modern day Romania. Language was suplanted by Latin around 500AD. Why would he speak german at all if even the characters that are supposed to speak it in the movie, don't?
But the thing is this part of Transylvania belonged to Pannonia which today is known as Hungary, so I believe the correct language spoken (at least by the common folks) should have been Hungarian. Even the castle where Hutter arrives is an old Hungarian castle (Corvin castle aka Vajdahunyad) … but then again, Nosferatu is modelled after Vlad the Impaler who spoke Dacian. Regardless, this movie completely blew my mind! 🎉
nosferatu was a parody of Dracula...i think you should check what parody means. Second i am not into modern horror more into thw old ones like. start naming slasher movies only
Stoker not Stroker, Willem not William.
Your review should be the industry standard! An amazingly brilliant review!
So it's like a fanfiction.

@@MartinhoRamos1990 I heard we don’t talk about that one, but maybe I’ll give it a watch
That's a SEQUEL to the 79 flick.
@@IanFindly-iv1nl A very loose sequel but to be fair it does expand on the tragic themes of the `79 version as the 2024 version also does.
I love the movie and the idea of a movie where the vampire is related to the occult and demonology. This movie effectively delivered on this type of story. Nosferatu is a monster (in fact considered to be the undead plague carrier) and is primal in his motivation. He is death. He is a manifestation of ba'al the demon. His connection to Ellen and his motivation to seek her out is simply because of her psychic / paranormal abilities and this is what drew him to her. Finally, we have a vampire movie that doesn't follow the same old tropes. Vampires should not be sexy and monster movies should not be confused with romance. This is neither of those things.
@@AK-re6ls I have always preferred Nosferatu over other vampire takes. Love his creepy vibe, and how grotesque he looks. Like if he’s 100s of yrs old he better look like a corpse. And they amplified that to max in this movie
Stoker, not “Stroker.” Hutter, not “Hunter.” Film historians will know that what looks like the daytime scenes were originally hand tinted with a blue filter to make it appear like night time. I like your enthusiasm, but I really feel like a lot more research could’ve been done before putting together what’s supposed to be a documentary.
@@hazelowl7893 I have a hard time pronouncing certain words, I was aware when editing. And I wouldn’t consider this a documentary per se, was just me talking to myself for about 40mins immediately after watching each film to get thoughts out. I appreciate the feedback tho, and will take them into consideration for future projects
@ appreciate you getting back to me and didn’t mean to sound harsh! Loved the video. I really liked your take on “Shadow of the Vampire.” I was lucky enough to get to attend a premiere with the director present and he answered questions after the show, but I don’t recall much about what was discussed other than I loved the movie.
@@hazelowl7893 no worries, I find most people aren’t being mean. Can be hard to convey emotions thru text. I tend to go for a more laid back approach in my videos, and encourage people to educate me in the comments. I love movies/history, so enjoy the blue tint film fact And awesome you got to experience that, “shadow of the vampire” is now one of my fav films. And I was excited when Willem Dafoe got cast in the new film 🦇
I mean no disrespect to anyone here I just would never consider a UA-cam video, unless directly specified, to be a pure documentary but great video and feedback all around
@@sambyrd1319 appreciate the comment :)
Great video, loved the enthusiasm, because this movie was a true gothic horror banger. They actually did not alter Bill Skarsgård's voice as Orlok, he trained his voice with an opera singer and was able to lower it an entire octave for the role. Crazy impressive performance that really embodies a true monster.
@@cassandraadams8357 I just watched an interview where he talked about that, and the dedication is awesome
Yeah and he actually worked with professional Mongolian throat singers to keep that bass, the other actors were actually concerned about his mental health on set. And just like in the two "It" films Bill Skarsgard also starred in, Bill in full makeup was kept totally isolated from the other actors to make their reactions to his appearance more authentic for the climax.
My understanding of Ellen and Orlok's relationship is that she's a sleepwalker, and people thought that meant you had natural ties to the occult. Orlok is an occult monster, and in the opening, we see a lonely Ellen calling out in prayer for companionship and wakes Orlok by accident. Her desire for companionship and his animal appetite mingled, and a strange kind of relationship formed, and he rapes her in the opening. He curses her and torments her all her life until she joins a holy union with thomas. When thomas leaves it all starts up again. In the scenes where shes conscious but losing her mind i view as the curse of the nosferatu mingling his animal desire with her. Much like a posession. As far as her wanting it I think it has more to do with him being magical and hypnotic than anything.
@@einarrjamesson9643 pretty insightful, makes you think about people who truly believed this stuff back in the 1800s

And the award for the most pretentious UA-cam title goes to…
Don’t show your ignorance pls The original Nosferatu’s full title was: A symphony of terror
Rumanian FFS
God forbid someone pronounces a foreign word wrong
There's also a second Nosferatu remake that came out this year on AppleTV back in October starring Doug Jones. It's way less on the radar and many don't know about it because of the studio behind it being indie and the marketing not being so big. Robert Eggers' version basically overshadow it like that sequence in the trailer of Orlok's hand powering over the city (PUN intended). I was shocked to learn about it. I only found out about it a month ago when looking up the Count Orlok actors and came across Doug Jones and was curious to where he played the role. This version was in development even earlier than Robert's take (started in 2017), going back to 2009 I believe.
@@devontehuntley6274 I think I did see it when looking up versions of the Nosferatu, but couldn’t find much at the time. I’m gonna have to check that out for sure
@@juiceriver Don`t bother with the 2023 version, it`s basically just a shot for shot remake of the original with sound and partially colorized which defeats the whole point of what made the original work so well in the first place and the acting`s godawful! The dude playing Knock/Renfield doesn`t come off as crazy and brainwashed by a vampire so much as dumb and obnoxious and the dude playing Hutter/Harker is so stiff he makes Keanu Reeves` horrible British accent in the Coppola Film seem respectable and high effort by comparison!Doug Jones as Orlok/Dracula is the only fitting casting and even then he`s so awkward trying to give dialogue to a character who wasn`t meant to have spoken dialogue in the first place!Yeah David Lee Fisher, I respect you as a fellow creator but don`t quit your day job, dude.
@@juiceriver It's definitely more-so in the style of the original if they had the technology we have today in 1922. If you do a Part 2 to this video and talk on the Eggers version, then surely do the AppleTV one too.
I’m 50 years old so I have watched many vampire films over the years. When I say this movie is now my favorite vampire film of all time, that’s an understatement! This movie is absolute perfection!!!
@@justinhowell8873 if you have any recommendations I’ll take them. Thinking about dipping into the Dracula movies soon
@ Start with Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992). The early Hammer films starring Christopher Lee as Dracula are good as well. Of course the original Nosferatu (1922). The Lost Boys is a must see for any vampire movie fans! I also recommend Interview With the Vampire (movie AND tv series) and one surprising twist, Queen of the Damned. I hope you’ll enjoy your vampire journey!
It's the first movie I've seen that was really about vampires.
@@juiceriver I also must recommend the 1979 made for TV mini series Salem’s Lot. The main vampire is based heavily upon the original Count Orlok. It has been remade twice, but this is a classic vampire story that just hits all the right narratives!

haven't watched the 3RD movie yet. [ planning on it this night because it finally dropped at my local cinema. ] i hope they use amy and metal sonic next. like having the next movie be based off of Sonic CD would be awesome lowkey.
I was both impressed and annoyed by this movie. Being a fan of both Tolkien and Japanese Anime, I was intrigued by the combination of those genres. I really enjoyed the art of this movie. The backgrounds were extremely lush. I enjoyed the combination of straight illustration and different digital techniques. Some scenes reminded me of the 1970s unfinished LOTR animated movie that combined silhouettes of real scenery with standard animation. I also thought the body movements were quite well done. Hera, in particular, was extremely well conceived and animated. Besides the art, the writing was sub standard. The movie started off promisingly enough but the overuse of dialog taken directly from the Lotr movies and adapted, slightly, to be reused in Rohirrum was, frankly, boring and, possibly, lazy. Once the plot moved on from Helm Hammerhand and became completely about Hera, it stalled. Eventually it climaxed completely predictably in keeping with the slightly different regurgitation of the Two Towers plot. I don't know if the terrible writing was because the producers felt the need to rehash the same story or if there was a serious lack of creativity but the result was messy and kind of pointless. I realized that I was supposed to care more about Hera and her Lady In Waiting but I just didn't. I think that sums up my feeling about the entire movie: Despite some really good Japanese style art and a great fantasy world to place the story in, the writing was so poor, I just didn't care about the characters.
It was the best of times, it was the worse of times
As a huge Lotr fan, read all the books and grew up with the movies when they came out. Huge disappointment! Horribly made in terms of animation, didn’t like the style at all, and the very poor writing plus poor voice acting. I was bored and hated it already after the 1st 3-5 minutes. I don’t understand how this got so highly rated. I purely went on the notion that it was Lotr. It didn’t feel lived in. It didn’t feel authentic. It was literally meh! So save your time, and money, and watch the trilogy or the Hobbit as this was trash on par with Rings Of Power. And I’m a POC, LGBTQ+, indigenous and a feminist.
They tricked you bro. They slapped "lord of the rings" on it and you paid your dues
I’m sure if I read all the books and stuff I’d probably wouldn’t have a good time watching it either. But I didn’t and cause of that I was able to enjoy myself for the 2hr run time
What does being a queer, colored, equal rights mf have to do with enjoying or disliking a lotr movie
Brother, please make sure you know your info before you make a vid on it. It is a cannon event in Tolkiens lore, but Hera's actions are not.
@@MrGforce52 this is why I encouraged people to educate me in the comments, I am aware this did happen in the lore. I just don’t know everything
Helm's daughter doesn't even have a name .. and I can't see Tolkien picking one from Greek mythology, funnily enough
To this day I was not aware that one could think that "Rohan" was how you spell "Rohirrim". Just tell me that English is your second language, because boy... you need excuses.
For my two cents, it's kind of the platonic ideal of the perfectly 'Okay' movie. I'd say go ahead and watch it if you have time to kill. I'm a bit of a Tolkien purist and never saw anything that rustled my jimmies too much, so I expect anyone who's more casually acquainted with the franchise should have a decent enough time.
@@callingcthulhu407 haven’t heard someone use rustling jimmies in a min, appreciate it
