A cat of many talents, must be piano-cat's grandfather
Love it! Thank you sharing!
What instrument is playing these songs? It sounds super nice! And where can I find more of this type of sound?
It's actually a digital sequence with Xylophone and Vibraphone playing. You can try making your own with the Online Sequencer, which is what I used. Just select Xylophone and/or Vibraphone from the instruments list and you'll be good to go! Link here: onlinesequencer.net/
That was fun!
Great job, Jared! A moving picture postcard.
Thank you so much!
Wonderful video! Love the music by Galen.
I LOVE this SO much! It warms by heart. I was there in 1974!
Thank you. It's an honor to receive a comment from a veteran ragtimer like you. This year was the 50th anniversary of the Festival. I'm planning to upload a video for that soon (hopefully).
@@thetoplinerragtimeshow I can't wait to see it! My wife and I were planning to attend the 50th, but at the last minute she fell, and broke her shoulder. I have just written to Bryan Wright to see what I must do to get on the roster of performers next year. I was the winner of the piano competition in 1974, under the name of "Bob" Long. And have been living and performing ragtime, (and composing rags too) for decades. Dick Zimmerman got me acquainted with ragtime in 1966! I once delivered a piano to Eubie Blake's home on the west coast in Watts in about 1975! In the glossy 50th Anniversary Magazine, on page 20, my friend, Larry Melton, writes about Steve Hancoff and I as winners of the piano and string contests, and again in a photo on page 26 I'm standing on the bridge behind Rudi Blesh, arms folded! Hope to meet you in Sedalia!
@@flintlong2937 Oh man, that's too bad. I hope she is doing better now. That's awesome that you won the piano competition back in 1974. Would that be the Old Time Piano Contest of Oxford MS (originally in Monticello IL, then Decatur IL, then Peoria IL)? I just realized why your name sounded so familiar: I heard this piece ( ua-cam.com/video/QmKDrgz-73M/v-deo.html ) of yours a while back and your name stuck in my head. I only made the connection just yesterday! Which magazine would you be referring to? Is that the program published by the Scott Joplin Festival? Yes, it would be great to meet in Sedalia. I hope to be able to next year.
Boy that's hot.i love to hrar an old piano like this you sure know how to play i have always said if you the keys you can play any piano you play very well gbu
Thanks, but it's not actually me playing. This is a digital sequence using scans of hand-played piano rolls from the 20s. The description talks more about the pieces and their performers.

Nice! Looks so good. Love the red & green, very Christmasy! 🎄Love The stride style.
This well made video means the world to me. I love ragtime and the way you've presented it! Thank you! Flint Long
Thank you so much for your very kind comment. I'm so glad you liked it!
Отличная подборка
Большое спасибо!
I got 100%.
Nice job! Thanks for playing!
Adam G. Swanson's "Bluin the Black Keys" is a magnificent version of the composition that we don't hear all that often! Great job Adam!
Indeed. It was even more stunning in person! Adam's version bears some similarities to "Perfessor" Bill Edwards' version, so you may like that as well. Here's the link to his version: ragpiano.com/pbmusic_rags5.shtml#:~:text=bluin'%20the%20black%20keys%20
Fantastic renditions of my ragtime favorites. The tropical sound compliments them well. However, I do note a lot of skips and jumps.
Classical Rag by Eubie Blake was my favorite.
Thank you for your kind comment. I noticed the skips/jumps as well, but I wasn't sure if it was a problem with the video, or just my poor internet connection. I think the trouble might be the program used to create the video, as it seems to be a known issue with that program. I'll try again using a different program soon.
You’ve got some excellent song choices on your channel.
Thank you very much.
LOL!

Thank you for sharing these wonderful clips from the Scott Joplin Ragtime Festival. This looks like a marvelous event to attend. I understand that the 50th Anniversary of this Festival is coming up in 2024. What a fabulous time to attend!
I'm so glad you like it! Yes, the 50th is coming up, and from what I learned, it should be great!
Wonderful compilation video of the 2023 Scott Joplin Ragtime Festival in Sedalia, MO! Such a variety of performances. I feel as if I was there. Thank you!
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I love this! The difference between traditional ragtime (which is great, don't get me wrong) and this medley lies in the swing which piano players usually can barely resist. Do you think you can include a song list of what's in here so we can maintain a full enjoyment? I would appreciate it so much.
Yeah, I've noticed that the swing rhythm is what really gives the rags that "saloon" feeling, and my listening to traditional rags vs. "swung" rags is actually what gave birth to this compilation. Sure, I can do a song list. I'll put it in the description and divide the video into chapters, too. Thanks for the suggestion!
Song list has been added at the bottom of the description, and I've divided the video into chapters for easier listening. Enjoy!
This is sweet! Thank you so much!!
Right, the swing makes you get-up-a-dancing! Great video, thanks!
You're welcome!
Nice! I really like this piece. Thanks for the tutorial.
Glad you like it!
Chickens! 🐓 😄
You really chose the classics. I recognized most of them by the melody alone.
Thanks! I'm so glad you like it! I'm working on a "Part 2" of this compilation, so stay tuned!
I greatly appreciate the thumbnail of Salem playing piano, and there were some great songs in here as well. Well worth the listen!
Thank you very much!
Bye bye sleep💀💀 Come here cat

I like the rags in this relaxing island sound. It transports me to a place filled with the smell of the sea and ocean breezes. Perfect for relaxing and even napping. I need to find a hammock 😊.
Thanks! I'm glad you like it.
