The Old Fella's Travels
Australia
Приєднався 10 січ 2013
Just an Old Fella and his dog (Barnes) out on the road to find myself again. After recently loosing my darling wife and alone again after almost 40 yrs of marriage, I found myself without purpose - Like, what do I do know, who am I.
This channel may be a little intimidating to some, but, I hope it may help other widowers gain purpose back in their life and assist in dealing with the terrible grief that follows the loss of your partner.

The channel will also serve the purpose of keeping my family and friends up to date on where I am, what I am up too and any adventures I may have had :-)

Finally - 12 Volt tidy up is complete - RAIN, RAIN, RAIN
The tidy up and weather proofing of my open tub electrics was not difficult - but the RAIN was relentless.

DMax - Garman Overlander setup and in cab Power Solution
Переглядів 393День тому
This setup, albeit simple, turned out to been one of the most frustrating I have done. New vehicles have a lack of power sources for the devices used for touring, hence a solution was needed. Mine is also a portable solution. Garman Overflander - mounting soultion.

Being unsure where this build is going to go over the next year, I have decided to do a basic build and improve, change or even remove items to make the most effective build for my future travels. Focus - keep the vehicle as lite as possible, purpose built and effective and cost to a minimum.

Not too sure about having it out in the weather. grab a canopy. keep all your gear and elect dry. cheers 🍺
Yea. That's the plan. Just a short solution until I get the tub canopy on. 👍
Mate I would be stressed not having it covered buddy ...I'm running now for a canvas cover .lol
Yea, I'm looking at a tub canopy soon. Hopefully before my SA fishing trip.
Gren nuff is the closest way to say it as I live just down the road near the Greenough bridge on the highway safe travels mike
Thanx mate, appreciated. 👍
Go the DMAX!
Yes. The mighty D. Great vids mate. I'm not happy with the solution for my gps. I needed a better solution to mount my Garman Overlander and your ram mount solution was the go. Thanx. Very helpful channel.
I am glad you finally caught something Mike. Great last 3 episodes with the usual mess you get into. Take care buddy and safe travels. 👍👍🍺🍺👍👍
Thanx Mate. You too
Great Travel video Mike and it is pronounced 'grenoff'. lol There is a lot of history all over that is worthwhile looking into just for the sheer terror of it. Happy travels mate and take care.👍👍🍺🍺👍👍
🤣🤣🤣 Hopeless with town names.
Lovely Ep and spots and fish. I loved the Yorke if I went back I have my tinny and love to camp and fish at Gleesons
Cheers mate. I reckon I'll buy a tinny going forward. 👍
nice one buddy..
Thank you Ladies😊
Loved the way you find these old historical places it's such a fantastic mix in your channel👍👍👍 keep up the grate work and looking forward to seeing your fishing and D-Max build and the Prospecting, keep safe 👍
Cheers mate, thanks.
That looks a lot like Padre Island National Seashore here in Texas. It's a 70 mile drive down the beach until the first cut stops you. And the fishing is great!!
Sounds like the place to be. I didn't realise Texas was close to the coast.🤔 Nice. 👍
@@TheOldFellasTravels We have 367 miles of coastline on the Gulf of Mexico.
Wow
You never do anything by half do you, Mike? And no one there to help you. Bugger. lol great episode and the D Max is getting there. Take care mate & keep in the hardtop. 😂😂🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣🍺🍺🍻🍻
I live by one rule. Bite off more than you can chew, and chew like all merry hell. 🤪🤣🤣🤣🤣 Thanx mate.
That happens a lot with DMax's. Ha Ha
Now ya tell me. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lovely Ep and set up, Bugger about the bogging
Thanx Craig. Yea, still getting to know the Mighty D in the the sand. The cruiser with the bigger rubber and power would generally just power out of the stuff. Will be interesting to see what the better shoes and suspension with make in the future.
Love the shirt Mike
😆 one of my favourites. 👍
Nice video, What sort of drone are you using?. That old jetty is iconic and no one is doing video of it. Australia is losing its old jetties rappidly. They all have so many stories behind them. I used to do my swimming lessons along that old jetty as a kid. I lived in Ravensthorpe. Also wish you did some video there.
Cheers. Yea, I hear you. I mostly use the DJI mini and the Mavic Air 2 less often. Both great drones. Thanx for the comments. 👍
Have had a fantastic time with SAILUM TERRAMAX not a heavy weight as in top 4 however bulletproof
Yea right. Good to know. Thanx.
I was told the shelters were for the swimming pool in the middle that was in between the shelters, that was filled in for some reason. I visited family in 2023
Ok. Interesting. I am interested in your comment. Part of growing for me Gnowangerup. Just out of pure chance. Did you now the Blight's in Gnowangerup. Coral or George Blight ( Deceased) Greg, Kerry or Sandra. It's such a small world. 😊
@@TheOldFellasTravels no, sorry. I visited my sister who moved there a couple of years ago. She runs the Post Office.
hi Mike there is a remote solenoid kit available for the tailgate lock on the D-Max that allows you to unlock the tailgate with the car remote control. when you lock the doors it also locks the tailgate and vice versa regards Terry
Thanx for the tip. That's goin on the build list right now. Thanks. Appreciated.
You are great inspiration to this Old fella........ Cept I have to take the missus everywhere I go and she is not happy where I want to go
Well you know the old saying. Happy wife, Happy life. 😊
Mike the fisherman 😊Mate we are hanging out for the gold if you get there. Cheers Greg
Cheers mate. It's in the travel plan. 😉
Nice to meet you- beautiful editing. 📢
Thanx. I actually thought this video was a bit rough so thanx for feed back. Really appreciated 😊
It's looking good mate
Thanx. Slow and steady. 😉
Good one ole mate. If i may ask, where did you get the water bladder ??
Drifta Stockton. I've had it for 3 yrs and still going strong.
@@TheOldFellasTravels Thx mate, safe travels.
You are not happy unless you are playing with something on your truck. lol. Looks great, Mike and still waiting for the D-Max verdict from a run. Take care and stay safe. 👍👍👍👍😂😂🤣🤣
Cheers mate. Yea, will give a run down of the DMax once I hit the 3000k initial service. Your kind of right. I not happy unless I modifying something 🤣🤣
@@TheOldFellasTravels 🤣😂🤣😂😂
Practising using your drone before posting lots of dreadful attempts
Ok
Go Commander.... New Chariot looks great. Keep Them Videos coming for more exciting Commander Adventures.....
🤣🤣🤣🤣 good on ya mate. You still on the 2 or 3 beer everyday health kick. 😊
Unlucky with the fishing but good taste in vehicle, you wont look back
Cheers mate. Yea, my 2nd D-Max. My earlier was a 2009. A real reliable workhorse. 👏
Hi Mike, the best advice I could give you to improve your beach fishing is to join a beach fishing club. The club will usually organise a field day competition each month where you will be able to fish along side very experienced fishers sharing their knowledge, you will learn all the skills and tips from fishers who have been fishing for years.
Thats a great tip mate. Thanx
Looks fab mate 😊 the next journey
Cheers Kristie. Was just a quick shake down trip for the dmax. Weather was terrible.
Old fella, I guess I should apologize for my harsh comment re your new purchase. It was not directed personally at you but more about these new vehicles. I believe it is making worse drivers of most of us and I cannot understand why we need this stuff on the type of vehicle you have bought. I hope your happy with it and that's all that matters. once again I should not have given you a negative on this one. Cheers
Thanx Graham, appreciated. I do get where you coming from though. I explained a little in an earlier video that due to health reasons my remote out back days may be done. Hence I chose a veh more suited to my future endeavours. No worries mate - appreciated.
Nice safe color as well ????
Yea. I have always had white or pearl white. I didn't get much choice as the first 2024 models were all but sold. Hi like the dark grey so dropped the hammer 🤣🤣🤣
Old Fella, I used to love watching your outback adventures in a real car. Now you have bought a night mare of modern crap with all this useless technology that one day will get you stranded in the outback somewhere. Cant watch you anymore mate, bye!!!
Harsh mate. Sorry, life changes. Cheers mate.

Hi Mike Your new rig looks bloody mint! Lots of great new memories in this one Cheers mate 👍
Thanx mate. 👍 yea, really happy with the new tow. Heading out for its maiden trip tomorrow. Up the coast for three nights as a shake down. Can tow the DOT yet. Say gidday to Ang for me. 🥰
had my 21 X Terrain since new and love it, great ute
They are a nice unit mate. Good to hear. 👍
Is a canopy on the list mike
Yep. At some stage. At this point I'm not sure whether I do one of the alloy tub canopies or a full tray canopy conversation. I will talk about this in a upcoming video when I put a tub rack on as a cheap short term solution till I work it out.
Hooley dooley, looking forward to the build.
Yea me too 🤣🤣 completely different approach this time so I'm not even sure the direction this will take. 🤔
An absolute belter young fella Can't wait for the build updates and see you on those gold fields, all the best mate👍👍👍
Cheers mate. 👍
wow, I'm selling a few things ..what do you need ? congratulation's bubby ..

Great country out there. I work in Cue. If i see you ill look you up for a chin wag.
Having too much fun there, Mike. Say hi to Barnsie. Take care mate and good luck. 👍👍🍺🍺🍻🍻👍👍

my tire guy would return these asap. bad lot number. i have the at3 I prefer the m55
Yea, definitely a bad batch. I've since gone to yoko geolanders
Gday Mike, Hope the test results are better for you mate.I found that mine changed when I got my BMI back to where it should be and lost 12kg. What a difference it made to life was amazing. I was 100kgs and dropped to 88 kg , had to stop the beers for two months to do it but was worth it. Remember the gold is waiting for you Mike , it hit $3700 an oz this week , that will pay some expenses. Cheers Greg
Wow. Great effort mate. Yea, same. Need to dump the kilos. 🍻 cheers
Wow 3700 an ounce. I really need to get back in the Goldfields.
I thought Your first mistake was wearing the buckaronie shirt 🤣🤣 but at least you caught more than buck 😂 cheers mate 🇦🇺🍻👍
😆 🤣 Maybe. I'll wear the L of C shirt next trip. 😎
Im out north of coolgardie now , but no luck yet ,, i been out quite a few times now , and have had no luck ...hopefully get a piece tomorrow 🙂
Yea, I never did much good around Coolgardie. Pretty much always detected around Leonora north. Good luck.
Gday Mike, nice to see your recovering. The gold will still be there, and plenty of months left to prospect. Get the health right, cheers Greg.
Thanx mate. Yea, won't be long know hopefully.
Its not freshwater at this time of year. When the rains come the bream will push down river. At that apot yiu can catch bream, flathead, small bull shark, mulloway. Bream is the main target. There is also trumpeter
Oh right. Wow, Mullaway. I do prefer beach salt water fishing. But the Swan River being so close its perfect to pass some time when back in Perth.
