On Saturday we went to Oklahoma to check on the chickens and clean out a shed to use as a chicken coop on our new homestead. On Sunday we go to our property to clean it up and get it ready, mostly. It rained and we were tired and hungry, but we made alot of progress!
Blueberry Pickin'

We drive to Neal Family Farm in Rogers, Arkansas to pick some blueberries. The kiddos keep us entertained and I have the hard job of recording while everyone else picks :). Bare with me as I'm still learning the technological devices used to record.

In this episode we bring all 20 chickens together and clip most of their wings. The crested bantams and the silkies are flightless birds, so they don't get a trim.

Nicole and I release the chickens and get ready to clean the coop. Looks like we have a few roosters in the mix.
The Billy will urinate on his own face to attract the females. This is the smell you found. You guys had me giggling this morning thank you. The homestead is coming along.
Haha thats hilarious! Thanks for the info.
Best alarm system you can buy
@@Brian43761 thats what ive heard. Only one squaks though, not sure if the other is defective or thinks its a chicken. They are funny to watch.
OMG….. mafia chicken…..

Hey. That chirp means they ain't happy
Yea they were getting handled from a temporary play pen to their run. Im not sure if we didnt handle them enough when they were chicks or they just dont like being picked up.
Henny who TF asked you
Best wishes glad I caught your first vid it will be interesting to watch you grow into a homestead. Good luck sent from Western NY.
Thank so much! We look forward to it as well and maybe folks can learn or give tips along the way. We are all about helping one another.
I watch a lot of homesteading videos. If you ask questions you'll get answers. We have been homesteading for 15 years. Chickens/ Ducks, honey bees, and maple syrup. I'm building a greenhouse this summer to grow veggies through the winter They're pretty cold up here. I love watching and learning from others doing the same thing. Yours is the first one I found just starting out so it will be fun to watch Sam.
Thats awesome. We are hoping to add bees eventually, I just think its the respectful thing to do for the environment. Plus i heard they are great for helping in the garden, I just dont want us getting stung 😅. Thanks so much for the encouragement. We started watching a bunch too but none starting out, so I thought well lets go for it.
@@Cityfolksfarm I found that getting the right protection that fits good ( maybe a little bit big) helps with not getting stung. The benefits of having them around the apple trees, and garden have been very noticeable. We started them five years ago what a difference.
@@Brian43761 thats awesome. I mentioned keeping bees and he suggested it too but said stay away from tractor supply for those type of supplies. Once it gets time I’ll do a bunch of research.
Go For it, Don't Stop, IF it makes you happy, NEVER GIVE UP, DON'T STOP, YA'LLS GOT THIS👊🏻🌿🎶Play your song together 🎶😊🙏
Thanks so much!
Try different types of tomatoes, thr Amish paste, Roma are great for cooking, not very seedie. Juice cucumbers peeled with fresh mint leaves add squeezed lemon.. refreshing drink Also make Taziaki sauce, great on chicken and rice, burgers. Try mellons, very nutritional. Think twice act once! Best of luck!
Thanks for the tips!
