Haboob Day After
Dash Cam Video: California, driving from Palm Desert to La Quinta on Freeway 10 East, the next day after a weather phenomenon called a "haboob" passed through the desert.
A haboob is a type of intense dust storm carried on an atmospheric gravity current, also known as a weather front. Haboobs occur regularly in dry land area regions, like here in the Mojave desert of California where the Coachella Valley is located.

You sure may. No problem. I didn't notice it at the time, but my bumper was slightly pushed in and is now a bit unaligned with (lower than) the left fender. I didn't pursue the lady for damages since it's just a minor thing, but it's a little annoying nonetheless.
@@nordenx Thank you mate. Glad nothing serious

It was. But it's a rare occurrence now. It used to be more frequent before when the desert had more open land. These used to carry a lot of tumbleweeds too.

Hi, can I feature it? Credited on screen and with a link back! And is there any update? What happened after the accident?
Okie-dokie! I heard that the driver was fine. There was a slight delay in traffic at the intersection as they waited for the tow truck, but not too long. Cops were there, but I don't know if the driver was cited or who was at fault. I do not know if other cars were damaged by the flying wheel/tire debris. It was all cleared out when I returned about half an hour later.

I love Oak Glen. Been there many times, but only once in the snow.
It's very nice when there is snow in Oak Glen, but the roads can get very slippery and dangerous. If you visit during winter, remember to bring snow chains or at least have good snow tires. Thanks for commenting. :)

The woman driving the Volvo was taken to ER and only had minor cuts and bruises, She was released at 5 pm and appears to be physically ok. It must be true about Volvo being one of the safest cars around. So glad no one was seriously injured.

Last Saturday: The family went on a little early morning drive to view the lunar eclipse. After enjoying the full eclipse, we set up our dash cam to take this time lapse video of the moon setting in the west as the shadow of the earth leaves it and the sun rises up from the east. We had breakfast afterwards. Observing austrōn, Ôstarmânoth, and the goddess Ēostre. (Respectively: the dawn, the month of Easter, and the spirit of light)
The dictionary I quote is the "Arte y reglas de la lengua tagala" by Fray (Friar) Francisco de San José, printed originally in 1610 then reprinted a few more times in the centuries of colonial occupation. Fray Francisco wrote in Spanish that the pronunciation is "Malumay", which means that the word has a stress on the second last syllable - this has become the academic term. "Mabilis", "Maragsa", "Malumay", "Malumi", "Malumanay", or "Malaw-aw" are the academic terminologies which guides linguists & foreigners on where the stresses in our words are. However, those terminologies do not reflect how we actually describe the day-to-day actual pronunciation of the words. We common folk would use layman's terms like "malumay" or "marahan" or a "mabilis ang pagbigkas" but in academia those are not the same. I know this is confusing. Sabihin na lang natin na iba ang terminolohiyang "Malumay" sa aktuwal na paraan na pagbigkas ng "marahan". At ang ginamit ni Fray Francisco na pamamaraan ng pag-kategoriya ng mga salita sa Tagalog ay siya ring pamamaraan na pag-kategoriya ng sinauna at makalumang lenguaheng Kastelyano. At ang mga pagbigkas ng karamihan sa ating mga salita ay nagbago na rin mula noong panahon ng mga Kastila. ...
What is the difference between the pronunciation of "baybayin"? NOTE: I am not using the textbook classifications "malumay" (penultimate stress) and "mabilis" (end-stressed) academic terminologies, but rather describing the actual manner and/or SPEED of the pronunciation; "malumay" (soft, slow) and "mabilis" (fast, quick). When I mentioned that the stress for the "mabilis" way of saying baybayin is on the second from end (penultimate) "ba" syllable, I am acknowledging the fact that it is classified as "malumay" in the textbook. But, that's a technicality, we're talking about actual everyday pronunciation here. SIDE NOTE: One confusion stems from the slower pronunciation of the noun "baybayin", because it not only means "shoreline", it also means "orthography"; the root "baybay" (trace, edge) of the gerund "pagbabaybay" (spelling). Second confusion stems from the academic terminology that stemmed from the Spanish classification of "malumay". Third, is the general lack of cohesive standards in Filipino pronunciations. CLARIFICATION: Baybáyin - noun, umbrella term: Filipino Writing System - (bay•BA•yin) the faster pronunciation and proper name, the first letter should be capitalized when necessary. baybayin - noun: orthography, spelling - (bay•BAY•in) slow pronunciation baybāyin - noun: shoreline, beach, delineation - (bay•BAY•yin) slow pronunciation baybayín - verb, command: to spell, to delineate, put in sequence, put in order, to write down - (bay•bay•IN) fast pronunciation with a stressed final syllable. www.baybayinfonts.com ...

On the recent trip to Dalano last July 25. 2014. The long lonely drive gives me pause to reflect. Why do we do these just for those who forget? If not for caring and fostering a legacy, and yet... We don't earn any profit, nor merit respect. ~ culture bearers bear the weight and bare their souls.
