Bush Kayaking and Camping Adventures, Bushcraft , Hints , Tips , and Reviews . Along with Birdwatching Flora and Fauna , Australian bush, travel and exploration
I have been into camping and the Australian bush since i was a kid. I have been an outdoor educator teaching the youth of Australia teamwork, self resilience and leadership with the outdoors as our pallet and tool to learn within. Including teaching within The Duke of Edinburgh’s youth development program .
For many years I was a guide for Rock Climbing, Abseiling, Canyoning, Bushwalking , Camping Expeditions flatwater canoe and kayaking guide . Here did i not only learn the disciplines and skills to do with those activities but also learnt much about the flora and fauna, the geology and biology of australia and continue to learn and teach my life long skills and knowledge to others . UA-cam is also a great place for me to do this
Thank you so much for watching
We would be honoured if you stuck around and Subscribed :)

Hey mate you reckon this will be fine with inflatable SUP? More so the park area I wouldn’t go too far.
great vid,. beautiful colours!
Gotta love a sunset paddle . Thanks for dropping by :)
Ahh, the serenity! Nice vibes mate, thanks.
haha not as serine as living next to an airport ;) Thanks for watching and commenting . Glad you enjoyed the vid
Nice one Pete . that was pretty chill . Thanks for posting
haha it was a very chilled paddle I am glad the video conveyed it . Thanks again for watching and commenting :)
What a great Doggo, thanks for uploading!
was just there last week
nice . We would love to get back there . Thanks for watching . hope you enjoyed the video and Happy new year :)
no shortage of energy in Sonny ✌🏻
yep i reckon he could have swum the whole time . didnt even need to give him a lift on the kayak :)
An excellent bite sized tribute to Chaffey Dam. I particularly like the snapshots of the birds in the corner, and the slow motion Dragonfly action.
@johndunlop823 thanks. I am glad you liked the video. Yep the dragon files are quick. One of my favourite insects. I had to slow it down to get a good look at it. Thanks for your comment and have a great holiday season. All the best John. Pete
it's a small miracle that 200 years ago someone decided, "hey, let's not rip down all these trees!". So close to Sydney as you said and so amazing, bit like the Blue Mountains. Don't mind crowds enjoying the waterways and bush, but I could always do with fewer jet skis 😛 Heard a Koel in the background too, very cool. Have a great Christmas ✌🏻
yep i thing they left it alone because its poor soil . steep and rugged for agriculture , although they probably did some logging there and most likely would have run stock through there . yep the Coal is migrating through this way atm . I am not sure they might even nest around here . A happy Christmas to you and your family too Chris . Have a good one :)
great video thankyou
Wow thanks for your comment :) Glad you enjoyed it . Thanks :)
Excellent. You have put creative effort into your videography and editing - and it shows.
thanks . I do try . editing takes ages . good thing i like the editing possess . I only have one gopro camera so I try to do the best I can with one camera . Its nice to see a reasonably ok video develop from the footage i take on the day . Thanks for you comment and I am glad you enjoyed the video . Have a good one :)
Nice video . Bobbing head looks like a great place to launch . Apple tree bay looks a bit hectic I will leave that for the jet skis and boats
thanks for the comment . yes I agree . We will much prefer to launch at Bobbin Head too . Happy Paddling
Nice to watch. I have never seen a hammock set up before. Nice share
thanks for the comment . Hammocks have their pros and cons . a bit of a learning curb to set up . and you need trees but if the ground isnt flat and or weedy and rocky . you have option to set up . . Happy camping :)
The intro was nice. Love kayaking, just don’t do it enough. Nice video
Glad you enjoyed the video . I hope you manage to find the time to get out kayaking more . Happy paddling
surely you must see a bullshark or 2 in your paddles..
no not yet . hope to one day . I am interested to see how I will react . I will either get all anxious and freak out a bit . or just marvel at it lol . I hope you enjoyed the video , Thanks for the comment . have a good one :)
nice spot for a cuppa for sure. Never get sick of hearing lyrebirds :V
yeah a bloody awesome spot . No wonder the first nation peoples occupied that spot for what looks like thousands of years going by how big that midden is . It looked like that whole hill was made from shells . Yeah Lyre birds what a beautiful show off :)
great trip
Thank you for saying and thanks for watching , I am glad you enjoyed it :)
Thanks for sharing... My grandfather was born and raised in Brooklyn along the river near by back in 1894 and my father used to take me fishing there when I was a young boy ..great memories for me much appreciated
Your welcome :) thanks for watching . and commenting . We are planning on launching at Brooklyn and paddling out and exploring the beaches bays and estuaries around there . hopefully do a night or two of kayak camping . Glad you enjoyed . all the best !
@ look forward to watching that one cheers
Thanks mate, you made a beautiful video of a beautiful place! New sub!
Wow thanks . What a lovely comment . You made the most lovely comment I've ever had on one of my videos . Thanks for saying so :) Glad you enjoyed it! and thanks for watching :)
Thank you for your kind reply to my comment. Actually I haven't made a comment on Y.T for a year or so, but felt compelled to because your video was so good. The story telling (like the side excursion up the hill) and natural bird sounds with just a little atmospheric music at the right moment was done so well. All the best from up Woy Woy way!
@@glenncooper4192 thanks heaps! . All the best to you too 👍

Thanks for watching . I just posted the next video for the day . exploring Cowan Creek headwaters check it out here if you like ua-cam.com/video/hGccdZD1BIg/v-deo.html
I’ve always overlooked that part of Bobbin Head. Not any longer!! That’s a beautiful stretch of water. The colours were beautiful, I’ll definitely do that next time I’m there. Really good video. 👍
its a really short paddle and well worth it . On that day we managed to paddle up Cockle creek .,then we paddled up Cowen Creek to the end . stopped at that place you showed me on FB for a cuppa Great Spot! . and a beach near the end for lunch . .then we paddled down to apple tree bay boat ramp and back to bobbin launch spot . Was a great day out . I will be posting the rest of the day here soonish . Thanks for watching Pete. Happy paddling
Any fish activity up past simos mate ?. I'm normally Camden or Douglas park. Looks very promising. Great vid
Probably is . doesn't look like many people get up there . There was a bloke downstream from Simos who said he had caught a few Bass and an eel . Good luck with the fishing and thanks for watching . Glad you enjoyed it :)
I've meet a few anglers upstream of Simo's but I think they were more interested in the solitude rather than fish. I've seen very little evidence of fish - no fingerlings close to shore etc. My son in law, a keen fisher, reckons there 'has to be bass in there' and aims to try his hand in a few weeks.
@graemesydney38 cheers mate. More exploring than anything, rod is always in the yak, so fingers crossed. Tell your son in law to be on the look out for snakes as they love a swim.
@@graemesydney38 yeah I recon there has gotta be bass up there . if they are downstream they have to be up there as the water is way cleaner and probably less fished by anglers , although yeah I didn't notice any little fish but I wasn't looking either . the habitat is certainly there
Good stuff, some beautiful bushland.
Yeah we were surprised how pristine it is up there Thanks for watching :)
I was wondering if you could please tell me what the gizmo on your wrist above your watch is ?
its a gopro remote control . I got sick of yelling at it with voice command lol . so did Jan :)
@ thank you . I thought it might of been a gps , I learnt something new
@@leithmurray736 no worries . In most places we use google street maps on the phone to navigate . Happy Paddling
great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
After this we continued exploring paddling up to the headwaters of Cowan Creek . Please Subscribe and hit the Bell icon to be alerted when I post the rest of the day journeying up Cowan Creek headwaters Thanks Heaps for watching !
that was a magic bit of footage at 2.53 and again at 11.21! That sandstone is so iconic in that area, brilliant and the cave was cool, idiot rubbish aside. We drive across cockle creek all the time on the expressway, never realised it was so big, bigger than the rivers around here 😛 Great upload, cheers ✌🏻
Thanks Glad you enjoyed it ! Yeah the Sydney sandstone is such an amazing colour when its exposed like that . I didn't realize we drive across Cockle creek . I will have to check that out . Thanks for watching
@@BushKayakersCampingAustralia yeah, I always make some childish comment about it 😛
@@outandabout_oz lol ... just to help you to impress your wife or who ever when you drive over it next time . memorise and say this Cockles are bivalve molluscs belonging to the family's Arcidae and Veneridae. The shells (valves) are oval and oblique in shape with outward radiating ribs on the surface. They are usually white, cream or light brown in colour. That might crack them up :)
@@BushKayakersCampingAustralia ha ha ha, yeah, nah. When I am headed up that way my brain is definitely not in the zone for remembering latin 😛 They sure do taste good though in a butter sauce on pasta - shame I can't eat pasta any more!
@@outandabout_oz Well I would just like to remind you .A cockle is an edible marine bivalve mollusc. Although many small edible bivalves are loosely called cockles, true cockles are species in the family Cardiidae and do not need to be eaten with pasta but especially good with butter sauce ;)
Loved watching your Georges River paddle. Good work with the multiple camera angles and catching footage of that snake - well done.
Thanks I am glad you liked it . . hah filming the snake and trying to dodge it at the same time was a bit tricky . Ive put a few of your paddles that you have done on my bucket list for next time we are up that way . Happy paddling ! :)
Wow what a find. I had no idea this pristine stretch of river existed on my own doorstep. Another one for the bikerafting itinerary!
Yeah was pretty amazing . We had no idea it would be so nice . if you entered upstream further it would probably be pretty good for your packrafting . Thanks for the comment and happy paddling :)
Great video I know Simmos beach. Really well captured journey mate. I've got a couple of those hiking chairs they are rippers.
Thanks for the comment .yeah i was amazed by how pristiene it is past simmos beach heaps of birds up there too . If you have a canoe kayak or sup I highly recommend checking it out .
That water is amazing. I'm inspired
yep we didn't expect up there to be so clean fresh and pristine . when I got home I checked its headwaters origin out more on google maps . looking at the map kind of explains why its so pristine but yet so close to the suburbs maps.app.goo.gl/tvaaixgNLmEAfRdD6
thanks for your comment . Yeah it's a great place really worth exploring . taking a SUP up there would be good too . be much easier to go even further . I hope you can make it up there some day . you wont regret it . Happy paddling
hey Pete! absolutely love this film, mate! gorgeous area. you and Jen are awesome
I always wondered what it was like up Cattai creek . Looks like a nice place for a chilled paddle and a bit of a fish . Thanks for showing the entry and exit points
no worries . thanks for the comment . happy paddling :)
Awesome video mate. Thank you for sharing!
worries . thanks for the comment Glad you enjoyed it!
Ah nice, another person who admires the sounds at least as much as the videos, if not more.
glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the comment and sub . Yeah sometimes i am in two minds whether or not to use a music track because the natural bush sounds so nice . in future I am going to try to make a talking and music video and then just one with the sounds of paddling camping and the bush . Happy Paddling
Great Video as always, strange question for you, what are the bits of tape on your paddle blades for?
hey thanks for the compliment and your comment and question . The bits of tape make the water from the paddle blade drip off into the river rather than run down the shaft onto your hands . basically it acts as a way to stop water dripping onto you or into the kayak . The paddle I was using had no drip rings so I was using the tape to help keep me dryer . Ive since put some driprings on the paddle so I probably dont need the tape now . But it worked a bloody charlm . In windy weather that tape would help heaps as when its windy the drips from the drip rings often blow into the kayak . Now the weather is warmer its not such a concern but come winter paddling I think its a pretty good idea now that I have tried it out . Thanks for the question and Happy Paddling :)
great stuff, very chilled, except for the nimrod tearing down the creek. Those bento boxes are a bloody good idea heading into summer, will hunt one down I reckon. Channel Billed Cuckoos are awesome, haven't seen one for years, shame you didn't;t get any footage. Thanks guys ✌🏻
haha yeah the Channel Billed Cuckoos Jan loves .kind of prehistoric looking . they are pretty cool but bloody evil buggars though like all Cuckoos . Yeah the bento boxes are a good way to help keep things organised and not squashed if you have the room . Thanks for watching and the comment :)
Hello from Germany, beautiful photos of pure nature nice video Thanks Matze
Glad you liked thanks for watching and your comment .I really enjoy your kayaking videos too
Thanks for the info - looks like a good place for me to try some bikerafting - paddle in and cycle back
Hey thanks for watching and your comment That sounds like a great plan . Its tidal so check the tides before you go for a more cruisey paddle unless you want to work a bit harder on the paddling section . It would be about a 6.5 km bike ride back to your start point too so a nice round trip. Happy peddling and paddling :)
Loved the video - thanks for giving entry and exist points - always helpful
yeah no worries I couldn't get any clear answers from people on other videos and facebook so I had to find them myself . Its a nice easy-going paddle Barra you will love it . We went up past simmos beach on georges river last week where you paddle . man that's a nice spot . I couldn't believe how unpolluted and clear the water is . I will put up a video about that too when i get a chance . Thanks for the comment and watching . looking forward to your next video
haha it was a good effort with launching your kayaks . looks like a nice place to go paddling good for a canoe too
Yep a great place for a canoe even a paddleboard or packraft . basically a great place for all kinds of paddling . Thanks for the comment . happy paddling
Great adventure! Look forward to watching the rest!

wow how chilled . thanks
cool glad you liked it and thanks for watching
i love that fire pit mate i have one but im yet to use it hahah will hafta tee up a overnighter together maybe hawksnest again if ya keep
yeah its a pretty cool little firepit . easy to use and doesn't use much wood . Yeah an overnighter or a few nights would be good , ya could teach me some fishing tips . am also keen to do some squid jigging . where are you located near ?
very chill, loved it, feel free to do more of these. What lake was it? I think I bought the same stove / fire thingy. Good to see you loaded it up, I lost the heat on my first attempts - good tip ✌🏻
Yeah I am thinking I might do an ASMR and a talking video for each trip we do . Yeah I like the stove but yeah you really need to load it up with coals before cooking on it with the grill . although if you're using a frying pan or boiling water its ok to have some burning twigs while you are cooking . Its also a great thing as an emergency firepit if we capsize and get cold or need to get warm and dry . easy to light a fire in quickly if the ground is damp and pumps out the heat Thanks for watching and you comment . see you in your next vid . The Lake is Lake Lyell west of Sydney near Lithgow and the Blue Mountains
We hope you enjoyed this video and please if you would like to see more videos like this let us know in the comments . Thanks
