La Posa Quartzsite Arizona LTVA in February
My thoughts on camping near Quartzsite, AZ. I prefer paying to stay at the La Posa long term visitor area (LTVA) over staying at any of the free BLM areas around Quartzsite.
The east side of the LTVA was where I was able to find the most secluded spot. My closest neighbor was about 100 yards away and only a handful of people drove by during the day.

Installing Insulation to Block Off Where the RV Refrigerator Was

After removing the refrigerator, lots of noise was coming in from the access door and vent. The insulation will hopefully stop noise from coming into the van.

Going over the 3 repair manuals I own for the van. A factory service manual, Chilton, and Haynes. Don't bother with the Haynes.
Getting into the Doghouse to Replace Air Filter Dodge Roadtrek B3500
Переглядів 12 тис.8 років тому
Replacing the air filter in the van. What is a job that takes less than a minute in most vehicles, takes much longer due to having to remove the doghouse to get access to the engine.
Replacing Carpet

I've already destroyed the carpet in the van twice. This is my latest effort to replace the carpet in the "tub." I might try to replace the rest of the nasty green carpet with something nicer.

Watching a Car Get Towed in a Texas Walmart Parking Lot
Переглядів 1538 років тому
I wasn't in Texas for more than 30 minutes, and instant excitement. When I arrived in the parking lot the driver was standing behind the SUV while the cop searched it. I'm assuming the driver agreed to a search, because they weren't handcuffed at that time. When I exited the Walmart, the driver was nowhere to be seen and 2 more squad cars had shown up. I guess the search turned up something the...

Getting a Flat Tire on my Roadtrek in the Mountains of Washington State

This was the first time I had to change a tire. The tread blew as I was coming down a mountain, back into civilization. Thankfully, I was able to get it changed and got back on the road.
Magnet Fishing in Texas

Removing Windshield Stickers from the Roadtrek
Переглядів 1,4 тис.8 років тому
After owning the van for over a year, I finally got around to removing stickers from the windshield. I used a scotty peeler to get an edge up on the stickers, which I was then able to pull off. I used Goo Gone to get rid of the adhesive residue that was left.

Why not replace it with a K & N air filter?? Clean it every 5 years.
I was wondering why you didn't check the gasket under the air filter? Since you had trash in your air filter holder I would assume you would need a new gasket.I needed a new gasket as well as the air filter. Great video thank you
be advised your 1997 b3500 is multiport fuel injected and has no carburetor it makes you sound foolish to keep mentioning one
Thank you for the video, i was hoping I could just pull it back a little, to gain access, but it looks like it has to come out completely!
thanks very much
Damn. I'm guessing the person who designed this location of the filter never had to remove the DH to change the air filter. Thanks for the video. I figured it was in the DH after i just got my RT and looked
As a courtesy, you may want to remove your dog house before taking van in for any servicing or smog check, Your mechanic will appreciate it
Put a blanket hanging from your dash to protect that gorgeous woodgrain
I, just bought a van from a friend a 97, Dodge Ram 2500 conversion high top van for $900.00 geting ready to do some extra custom work to it inside outside
Nice, looking van
Thank, you for you're video
I did this once and knocked the rear view mirror off! . Had to glue it back on.
Have you still got the table?? Mine didn't come with one.
Thanks for posting. Let me know when you want the beer that I owe ya.
🎃😘 Really nice rig👍 Home away from the sticks and bricks 🤪
Lol. You’re joking right? I think a newer empty van to put your mattress and cooler in might have been a better choice, if not.
casually has captain chairs
You're doing it wrong that's why you're scratching your dash get out of the van go to the passenger side door stand outside the door lean into the van pull the dog house all the way back toward the back of the seats and rotate up it'll come right out and continue taking it out the passenger door same way with putting it back in it will not scratch your dash it won't come close to it
Na I don’t have rotating seats
looks great

Very helpful, thanks. Jokers at Jiffy Lube said I wouldn’t be able to do it my self ( I’m a petite senior lady ) Ha, proved them wrong
That's awesome....you go girl !!
Thank you for posting you save me time and effort !! Cheers
Great video just subscribed
I changed our carpet to yoga mats. Insulates, trims to size easily, removable when needed, to easy to clean, useable for other needs (yoga, under vehicle repairs, etc) inexpensive from used or 99 Cent Only in season.
I hope your selling your removed items. Others would want them for their similar RV.
I have a Pleasure way. Don't know if the layout is comparable, but if I swivel the passenger seat all the way around as you would use it when camped, and the driver's seat a little to the left, the doghouse lifts out quite easily, with a fair amount of clearance.
Did you have problems with front end suspension? What did you do to fix it?
I'm a full-time Roadtrek RVer and I am glad I have compartments to store stuff. As long as you have the legal weight limit in your van your shouldn't have to worry about removing cabinets inside the van. You can always buy an empty Sprinter van and make it the way you want it. With the cabinets you could use spring loaded bars or a strip of wood to keep items from falling out. The more stuff your remove from the van the harder it's going to be when your someday want to sell it or trade it in.
Ripped out that third seat beast the first day I got mine home! Comes right out, just use wrenches n stuff.
Was that type of insulation able to handle the heat generated?
Maybe you would have done better selling the road trek and building out your own can or totally ripping everything out and rebuilding. Seems like you didn't like it anyway.
*"Don't think I'll ever use this/that/or the other thing, should get rid of it all!"* *WHAT THE FUCK?* *WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU WANT IT FOR???* *A 'ROLLING DOPE FACTORY?'* ( *Another shit-head buys something to fucking HIDE in...then hates everything inside it!* )
*This is funny!* *"I took the microwave out and now I have all this SPACE!"* ( *yeah, 'space' for NOTHING!* ) *Translation: *I like, uh, sold the the like seat, uh, for like 'weed money' and like, uh, the micro too, uh, 'cause alls I do is use this thing for like, uh, a 'fuck-wagon' like, uh, you know?* *So, like now, uh, I uses like, uh, this like cooler thing, uh, 'cause like I don't gots no fridge, uh, cause I don't gots no like, uh, batteries or gas to like, uh, for it to like work, uh, ....uh....uh....uh*
Nice walk through. We have a 2001 Dodge 190 Versatile. Love it, except for the cross-wise sleeping in the back. Wish we had the twin bed option.
I love my Roadtrek. It’s a 95.
Nice rig
A 10 minute job for me. Floor bolts were long removed. And no scratches to the dash. Thanks
The weight savings seems minimal.. even 500 pounds is not going to save you but 1, maybe 1.5 mpg and thats on an incline. Fuel efficient tires and non ethanol fuel would save more MPG and not ruin the value of the rig. How much weight did you speculate you saved?
Poor dodge...
I'd love to have those underbed drawers. I have flip down doors on mine.
Me, too maybe I will modify them into drawers.
Seems like a waste of a nice roadtrek if you're gonna pull have the interior out. What year and mode is your trek? Looks like a D190P
Woof woof woof
Hi , if you are every selling the Chilton and factory service manual at any stage would you let me know. I'm in Ireland and can't get manuals here. I have 2001 Dodge Roadtrek . Any help appreciated . Pic of my girls using their page, many thanks, Gary
Any idea how much weight you were able to remove? What are the before and after fuel efficiencies? Thanks
How much did you pay for the van?
where in Texas?
WHY are you so concerned about weight, the vehicle is designed to carry the weight of the doors, cabinets, etc. You worry about getting to storage under the beds yet you want to take out your cabinets / closets, it doesn't make sense. . You obviously have not camped for any period of time if you can see the need for storage for food, cooking utiensils, clothing etc. WHY didn't you buy a bare work van and simply put in a mattress and your cooler ??????? There are people with animals and/or children who lives in a van such as yours, buys groceries and uses the little refrigerator through management of meal planning and shopping for efficiency.
It sounds like, to ME, he should have had someone build an empty van to HIS specs rather than complain about a product that has been in place for many years with minimal complaints...and, I might add, I have NEVER heard anybody complain about the things 'he' has in this video before. Complaining about the door on the top cabinet space was too heavy and he wants to replace it with a net??? (why would anybody want to see all of their crap showing? Lol!) ...and, the fact he can't use the bottom cabinets while the bed is down? Really? (SMH). Geez! Have a great day, Janet!

I did this on my Roadtrek yesterday. Removing the "doghouse" was much easier than shown in this video. Swiveling the seat was not necessary, and the housing never touched the dash much less scratch it.
Well consider yourself lucky then, because they are pretty difficult. My seats don't swivel on the 97 Zephyr Conversion I have. I wouldn't damage the dash, so it takes two to make it go easier.
Some people's minds are just hard to figure out. Not because of how complicated or evolved they've become, it's more of just how simple they are.
