BRIDGE GEAR TOUR - Navigation Bridge Tour from a Deck Officer's Point of View
Tour of the Navigation Bridge
The "Bridge" or "Navigation Bridge" is the navigation command area where a ship's master and navigating officers control the ship from. In general, the lookout duties and all manoeuvring can be achieved from here.
While the layout of each ship is slightly different, the Bridge is based around a general configuration of the Control Console, GMDSS station and Chart Table. The make, model and configuration of each component will also vary from ship to ship but each ship must carry the same required components.
In this video I show you the vast array of equipment found on the Navigation bridge as well as a general tour of a typical cargo ships navigation bridge.
As always, if you have any questions related to the video or to the maritime industry or merchant navy, drop a comment below and I will answer all of your questions.

Anchoring Operation on a Cargo Ship
Переглядів 37 тис.4 роки тому
Anchoring a Cargo Ship - How To (Basic) Due to the low pressure demands/low cost of most bulk cargoes, bulk carriers often go to anchor upon arrival at a port. This is normally to wait for the previous ship at the loading or discharge berth at it is still undergoing cargo operations. In this video I show you around the ENGINE ROOM of a cargo ship. We divide the Engine Room up into five main areas and discuss the purpose of each. While I am not an engineer, I did consult with the ship's engineers as to the purpose of each area so I do hope to have achieved a factual presentation. While the engine room is not my main place of work, Deck and Engine teams often help each other ...

You do need correcting, its a 15,599t deadweight cement carrier, I thing at average consumption of 2.5 ton per day of fuel oil it might be making more than 200hp. I was not interested in going on anything under 2500 ton.

You guys are so lucky to be promoted directly from cadet to officer. In my country, usually after the cadetship, we go through the ratings for a few years before becoming an officer. Some companies offer a prospective officer program but are quite few.

Im studying nautical school at Kotor, Montenegro. I would like to be a deck officer. You are giving me motivation for studying so I can finish my school easely. Im 15 right now and I see myself as a 3rd officer for 5 years. I hope I will also film my adventures when I go on a cargo ship. Thanks for motivating me and may God send you a fair wind and a calm sea.
