Joey from Dawson's Creek is a confusing mess - Seasons 1&2

Why is Joey Potter from Dawson's Creek so annoying? This only applies to seasons 1, 2 and episode 1 of season 3. I stopped watching after that. Let me know in the comments if she gets better later on!

Lucas Scott from One Tree Hill is just another "great" guy.
The Downfall of Rory Gilmore
Переглядів 1,2 млн5 років тому
The sad progression of Rory Gilmore's downfall. (I do not own the content shown in this video.) Also, please don't take this video too seriously. I'm just a nobody who had too much time on her hands.
In the revival, how can Rory be broke? Her great-grandmother left her a multimillion dollar trust fund and her grand parents were private jet rich and to top it all off she is sleeping with a billionaire. So dumb.
Logan in 20 years = Donald Trump
I always had issues with Rory but in AYITL drove me nuts. I *hated* how she treated Paul. It was worse that at the start of the revival they said that they were together for 2 *Years* and at the end when he brakes it off it was 3 years together. That's sociopathic behaviour. Dating someone & cheating on him when you don't care about them for 3 years. Horrible. But the other major things that got to me were how she treated her opportunities. She had a job offer to work at a prestigious prep school and she acted insulted, just like she did at the writing jobs. There were tons of issues with the revival... Rory made fun of the 30 somethings but they were her, only better. Unlike her, they all met up and made new friends & tried to turn their situation into a positive. And the way Rory just casually treats everyone and takes her birth control so lightly while sleeping around is ridiculous. Then when she tells her mom about being pregnant it's right before the wedding. She couldn't have waited a couple days to let her mom enjoy her big day? Ugh. She's just so selfish and acts superior. And no she's not broke because she would have gotten an inheritance form Richard and his mother. And she had her Birkin bag she could have sold. So her 'Broke' was actually pretty well off.
😆 I have no idea why I watched and watch this show, it is extremely cringe, the way they talk is so unrealistic and ridiculous, the relationships and breakups make no sense, but for some reason I still watch.
Can't stand her.
Joey was cringey in the first two seasons yes but that doesn't change the fact that Dawson is a narcissist
This is a show written for teens, played by actors in their 20's (who should be teenagers) with dialogue written by cork sniffing bitter 30yo people reflecting back at their jaded youth. What could possible go wrong? All I'm thinking while watching this show is how unrealistic, rehearsed and forced the dialogue sounds. Witty? No... they are teenagers, and most teenagers don't talk like that. They should do stupid stuff, learn from it and THEN only AFTER the facts of their dumb behavior should start analyzing/reflecting. This show is CLEARLY written from the writers high horse sitting POV. And no, there is NOTHING likable about Joey's character. They wrote her without any joy in her heart. Ffs let her pet a puppy or something... Instead of balancing her character out a little we always get her PMS-ing on cocaine. Positive things in this show are the locations and settings. These have a pleasant vibe to it. Especially during sunset or sunrise. And the actors did their best with what they had to deliver. IMO!
Mitchum was right about her only doing what she was told to do. Otherwise she would’ve pitched something when she had her interview at SandeeSays. She was expecting Sandee to tell her what to write about.
Rory is boring & terrible. I actually stopped watching AYITL after the 2nd episode & hit reddit/Google for the summary. Idk how the actress who played Rory wasn't angry about the audacity with which they destroyed her character
"We have seen each other 3 times in the last year! We go days without talking, we trade few emails!" Is not hard to understand how much Lucas feels lost without Peyton, and how hearing her says stuff like " I don't miss Three Hill" "I want to stay here" can hurt so much! The entire episode (5X05) makes us see how Lucas is not satisfyed reaching his dreams if Peyton is not there with him, and she prefers to stay kilometers away from his boyfriend, and be traited bad at work! You don't even try to understand a character, you are still blocked to his mistakes in season 1 and idealize an evil version of him that never existed! "A terrible boyfriend" Yeah... a terrible boyfriend who was close to his girlfriend during a lethal pregnancy in Season 6, and a guy who is probably a great father and husband! But hey: " hE CHEated On BRoOOoKE 😭😭😭😭" 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
This is the dumbest thing I have ever seen as Lucas as a protagonist! Every point of this video can be easily debunked
I'd like a video about narcissistic pacey and how he gets away with all the sh1t he does
4:45 Was that Shia Labouf out of nowhere?
Thats cool! Its not for everybody! I thought I would hate it but actually loved it. But you stopped before ssn 3, which is widely seen as the best ssn. And first half of ssn 4. I do agree that Joey is annoying at times but they all have moments. DC was extremely popular! It was the #1 teen drama during its run in America. It aired in many other contries also. It only ended because the actors decided to move onto movies while on top. They didn't want to run 10 yrs like BH 90210 or Friends. If I really wanted to I can pick apart every iconic teen show. All of them are just recycled & rebranded for newer generations but they are huge business so they will always be around! That includes Stranger Things & Wednesday! I like those also & could pick them apart for similar reasons but I understand that they are what they are for their time & the masses love them just like they did Dawsons Creek!
Joey wanted to be with dawson. Dawson chooses to br with. Joey doesn't want to be with dawson anymore. Dawson tries to understand. Joey change her mind. Dawson accept easily. Joey kiss another. Dawson gets upset while joey says it's his fault and all that is about her. Dawson tries to work it out, but joey says he's more important to her than anything and this is the reason she is dumping him. Dawson tries deal with his pain, but there she comes arguing he was dealing with it fine. Joey start dating the she kissed but discovered he was gay, so she gets back to dawnson. Dawson discovers her father almost gets them killed but joey can forget her father but him who save them and protect her. That's was enough for me.
Self absorbed, judgemental , selfish , suffers from success and perfection Thats rory gilmore for you God i never hated a character this much before. And its a slow burn when u watch it for the first time
honestly, the downfall was when she kissed tristen, didn't tell dean, then they broke up and dean became a jerk she never should have been with jess, or logan, and after her and dean broke up she just cheated on them with an soemone else, she became a hoe
Joey get worse. She tell.Dawson. one thing. Pacey something n else.
In first episode, she was ready to give up on Chilton because of a guy talked with her in her current high school. She was kind of weird.
It's funny that no one really talks about that five-episode Lorelai/Rory standoff when they weren't talking to one another, that was another big indicator of Rory's selfish downfall
‘Til this day, I think Dean was the best boyfriend Rory had - even if he wasn’t as “cultured” as she is. He really loved, cared for, was attracted to, and protected Rory. (He wasn’t perfect, but neither was Logan and much less Jess…) Yet, Rory not only fell for the typical bad boy while in a relationship with a caring individual, but also treated Dean like shit by cheating on him instead of properly cutting him loose. To me, that was the beginning of her downfall… and, as much as I detest Jess, I cannot put all the blame on his back.
An annoying character and also annoying in real life, seriously she is only somewhat remembered for this show and marrying Tom Cruise. Which I think was a premeditated move to keep her in the A-list circle 😂😂😂 No one credits her for her flop movies or actual acting ability which is basically different variations of Joey 😂
How is katie annoying?
Mitchum was right.
Rory was an entitled little girly through the support of the grandparents who cheated on the nice guy with the bad boy, goes back to her ex, which she then cheats on with a rich chad, to then seduce her now married ex cheating on the rich chad and finally going for the rich chad again which she ultimately rejects because she needs to go on a eat pray love trip. And then in the continuation mini-series we see the final result of an entitled feminist. She's over 30, has a beta simp who takes all her shit and whom she does not respect or like the slightest (and cheats on with rich engaged chad), no job and will end up single without kids but a bunch of cats. Basically while the series started 100% feminist pipe dream of this perfect girls that has it all from the start and can get any guy she wants whenever she wants, but then they successfully made the left turn towards reality. It's kinda brilliant tbh. Problem is, all the girls who watched it, didn't get the message - OF COURSE 😛
It sounds like the writers just recycled Lorelai's life into Rory's. Think about it. All the bad behavior that Lorelai did, Rory continues to do. And since there's this attitude that women can do no wrong in writing because they are the protaganist of the story, they aren't suppose to get called out for the awful stuff they do or work hard, or have to make up for it because she's our pretty hero, then that's much of a story. It would be believable that Rory rebuffs Dean's advances after they kiss, and she starts asking him the questions that Lorelai asks her when she finds out that they slept together. Rory feels way awful for doing what she did that continues to rebuff Dean and appropriately so. Now dropping out of college didn't have to happen or she takes a break from it so that she could work for a couple of years or something if these writers wanted drama, there's drama right there. I don't know why writers write women that feel entitled or do dumb things and don't fix it should still be a good focal point of a story. So much potential in a series that started off really well and then . . . this. 'Rory too perfect, let's make her awful and she should stay that way? '. . . What is that?
At least Emily got the best ending ❤
It was a total moral decline. The show was, at the beginning, heartwarming and interesting with characters you cared about (like ALL of them). The stuffy grandparents that you got glimpses into their caring and humanity, the pain that caused Luke's gruffness, the childlike obsession of Suki with cooking, Michelle's mothers influence on his attitude...all their layers peeled back over the years. But when you peeled back Rory's layers..... It ended with a crazed, over compensating, grief stricken grandmother and a morally and emotionally bankrupt Rory. There was no fulfillment of plot for her have a one night stand with a Furry in New York, nor was there a reason to have her repeat being 'the other woman'. The show went from being wholesome to a trashy soap opera.
I also feel like the show looses it's drive when she starts at Harvard. Episodes exist in vacuums where one rarely affects the next one, like there is no consistent plot thread to follow except Rory working towards graduating Harvard, but we barely see her do that, and even when she does, she rarely has problems making it, no struggle or hard work whatsoever.
They should have written a therapist into the scenes so Joey could work out her emotions and traumas from her father in prison and the death of her mother.
Indeed, Dawson has un insufferable ago about being better for being the virgin. I think Joey ig has an okay character, but she has some terrible moments. That time when she said Dawson had to be thankful for his cheating mother, because she had no one really felt out of character. It didn't even fit the script as we'd barely got to know her situation yet. I don't mind the lack of communication too much. This might be because I skipped the last episodes of SO1 and the entirety of SO2. I liked Pacey so much more, so that's why I skipped to the season where he'd be shipped with Joey.
I hated joey always playing head games with Dawson then having a fling with Dawson's best friend! I always wanted Pacey and Dawson to join forces and tell Joe to get lost!! I hate joey Potter
I could barely get through season one. I tried to pick up randomly because everyone talked about how good it was but it was never interesting. I personally never found it relatable and her and her mother’s relationship was never something to be envied. It was misguided and horrible. Definitely codependent.
this is nothing more than a recap of the series with very little analysis or opinion. barely 1 cent.
to sum up. This series is about generational trauma and ironically how sometimes people become their parents and repeat their worst mistakes despite both (mother and child) trying to avoid it.
Girls cant relate? What in the hell are you smoking? Any single girl over the age of 30 was like this in their teens and adulthood.
Rory is the perfect example of the detrimental effect of the worldview of feminism.
You forgot about the fornication with the wookie man.
tbh Rory Gilmore gave me PTSD because my ex best friend was obsessed with the show and tried to model her personality off Rory which basically meant treating me like I was Lane because she was white and I'm Asian... But since in my opinion Rory treated Lane like crap half the time (usually spoke about her own dating problems whilst with Lane completing ignored Lane's issues got furious when she became a cheerleader) I was also treated like crap. Especially when she got a boyfriend and knew that I would never get one anyways because like Lane I'm super religious (I'm a Muslim and unlike Lane I'm actually really happy with my religion. I couldn't care less if I can't date) In my opinion,. Rory Gilmore may seem nice and cool as an idea but irl she'd be so annoying and I really bad friend in general.
Rory was always flawed. She would have benefited if she was written to be less than perfect with Jess, instead of the right person at the wrong time. One factor was the Jess spinoff that didn't happen. The real life relationship and break up of Alexis and Milo may have also been a factor. I would have liked to see more Jess.He understood her and kept her grounded. On the other hand, she never truly understood or trusted him once they got together. He was not about to settle in stars hollow and become the positive version of dean.
ngl i'm so scared that i'm gonna be like rory and peak in high school. i get sad and cry easily and i didn't think that's a big problem because i'm still a kid but then i watched gilmore girls and now it's all i can think about😭
been tryna find this vid for 3 years
Rory is the typical girl raised by a single mother.
Many things I hate about her. She slags off rich kids multiple times when she is one, she is so privilege and doesnt even acknowlege it. Another being she takes cero responsibily for her actions, its always someone elses fault and when someone rarely calls her out she gets upset and has a tantrum. Also the sleeping with logan, and engaged man, is so pathetic to me. Like girl you are 32, you are too old for this shit, this isnt high school and then gets mad when logan has to see his fiance, as if she wasnt the other women. If logan loved her or even cared he would choose her, but he doesnt, shes rhe side chic for when hes bored, and Rory is so pathetic to put up with this. Also what happened to being a girls girl? Since when do we sleep with men who arent single while knowing they arent single. Rory is the defition of a pathetic pick me girl who just expected things because of who she was and never wantrd to to worm for anything
Gilmore Girls - what a great 3 season show. Shame the didn't make any more...
Downfall??? She is the sole heir to her grandparents fortune. I wish my downfall was like that.
I think Rory would have been better off living according to her mother’s means rather than her grandparents’: public high school, community college, then a scholarship to Yale if she was good enough, rather than having things handed to her that she wasn’t prepared for. She grew up lower middle class, but had the “I’m a Gilmore! My ancestors came over on the Mayflower!” mentality. She expected all the rich kids to recognize her as an equal, and expected to benefit from the privilege of her grandparents’ status and wealth without the experience. And because she was decently behaved and generally responsible, she was treated as the golden child, when she was actually quite selfish and insensitive. Lorelei should have stayed home, even if she refused to marry Rory’s dad, and let Rory have the lifestyle her parents could afford, if she was going to encourage those aspirations.
ig I have to stop watching it in the finale of season 3?
Hahaha...
whoawhoawhoa wait where is the episode that skips forward a year? It's not on prime and I feel like I have no memory of watching it as a kid!
People are so harsh on rory gilmore. Just cut her some slack. Her life was miserable from the start... daughter of a single mum, being labelled gifted, having to be so perfect all the time. She was just quite over it. Just leave her alone.
