How to Pre-Flush & Prep Your PC Radiator For a PC Custom Loop Pre Install in 2025
Happy New Year! Flush your Radiator! This is one of many videos that I'll be migrating over from the main gaming channel. In this video, we go over how I pre flush my radiators to get them clear, clean, debris free, and ready for your PC build. The last thing you want is shrapnel and metal shavings in your loop! Even if the manufacturer says that they are pre cleaned, you'll often find that there is still scraps and metal pieces left in the radiator from the factory. Instead of filling them up and shaking the radiator over and over, I use this method for pretty good results. You can use simple off the shelf parts from the local store or amazon to do this. Here are affiliate links to many of the parts:
This is the aquarium pump I used. It was the cheapest one I could find when I got it:
amzn.to/3tMiKbI
Coffee filter
amzn.to/3tKBAAd
Exact Jar (you'll need to cut a hole in the filter with this one)
amzn.to/3KxTkVu
Wide mouth jar (if you just want to put the tube on the side and not drill a hole)
amzn.to/33xJWAx
Instead of the jar you can also just use the distilled water bottle and cut the top!! Easy peasy.

Resin vs FDM Printer Prints | Kratos PC Build Outtakes

I had so much footage of my Kratos build process. This is one section that got cut out. Thought that maybe someone might be interested in my experience with my 3D printers. One is a resin printer and the other is an FDM. These outtakes aren't really edited with the normal polish that my PC videos have, but there still is some interesting stuff and info in there. Never use vinegar to flush a radiator. If there is any copper in the rad, the vinegar will eat the copper. You'll know because your water will very quickly turn green.

    I hope you will take the time to read this comment to the end. In the late '80s I worked for a company that re-cored industrial radiators. I'm talking giant two to three ton radiators. Some of which were used to cool the gas turbines (jet engines) that powered generators used to supply electricity during peak demand hours. One thing I quickly noticed was the radiators that had waterless coolant used in them rarely failed and almost never had crud and corrosion built up in them. They were simply being serviced on a ten year maintenance cycle. That peaked my interest in waterless coolant. So, I researched it. You see water boils at 212°F, at sea level. If you seal up the cooling system so it can hold pressure, that pressure can raise the boiling point to as high as 254°F. During the heating process the coolant expands a great deal, which is why there needs to be an overflow tank to catch the expanded coolant, which gets recovered after the system cools back down. On the systems that used waterless coolant, which does not thermally expand like water based coolant. There where (almost) never leaks because there was no need for the system to be pressurized. Also, waterless coolant doesn't boil until after 350°F at sea level. And it's far more resistant to corrosion than water based coolant. In the early 2000's a company that makes waterless coolant began marketing their product to the average consumer. Evan's Waterless coolant. You can buy Evan's from their website, auto parts stores and even Amazon. You _Do NOT_ mix anything into it. Use it straight. I started putting Evan's in my vehicles, and replacing the 16psi radiator caps with 3psi radiator caps. And I haven't had a cooling radiator or heater core failure on any vehicle using Evan's since. I'm sold on the stuff. It doesn't expand and generate pressure, which can cause leaks. It doesn't corrode or break down into scale or sludge (when the cooling system has been properly cleaned prior to it's use, it will sludge up a bit if there is old residual coolant left behind). The stuff has a ten year in service life _In Industrial Applications._ So in a PC loop it would last forever as the conditions there are far less severe than it's designed to overcome. You can see where I'm going with this. If you are going to use all new components in a custom loop, I suggest you seriously consider using Evan's waterless coolant. Just make sure to completely dry out the components after flushing them out. Don't mix it with anything, use it straight.

    • @SnaxanTech
      @SnaxanTech 7 днів тому

      Interesting! My concern about this would be the thickness of it. If it's waterless, I bet it's super thick, affecting the flow rate through the loop and cooling fins. Meaning less efficient cooling.

    • @RANDOMNATION907
      @RANDOMNATION907 7 днів тому

      @@SnaxanTech No, it's as "Watery" as regular water.

    • @MisterMooo
      @MisterMooo 7 днів тому

      @@SnaxanTech It's less efficient because the main ingredient, ethylene or propylene glycol, has a lower specific heat capacity than water, meaning it transfers less heat and the temperature would be higher for the same amount of heat carried compared to water or diluted water:coolant mix. But corrosion protection and lifespan is superior.

    • @RANDOMNATION907
      @RANDOMNATION907 5 днів тому

      @@MisterMooo . . And you've tried it out and confirmed this? Why are you trying to discourage her from trying it? Evan's coolant is WATERLESS, and has a lower film strength than glycol. Meaning, it's 'wetter' than water. It is proven to transfer heat better than water and regular ethylene glycol.

    Just curious but why use liquid metal on the 9950x? It only has a tdp of 170w. It's too big of a risk using liquid metal for the gains you'd get over just using a liquid cooler with thermal paste. If the case shakes wrong it could drip liquid metal on something else causing a short. I know the components by the dies were covered but I'd worry about th we motherboard. Just not worth it imo. Great build otherwise.

      Mainly for overclocking and show. Also you’ll notice the rest of the die and areas were sealed with the shield polish so there’s no way the LM would drop. But we did swap it out with a kryosheet afterwards anyway for the final resting place and ease of maintenance.

      @danielhulan3058 On some of the bts they showed that they always use liquid metal first on WC builds to OC and test, and then adjust if needed. Keep in mind that she installed that CPU weeks before it was even released, so there was no real world data for temps or OC on it yet.
