Nice place but you pay for it.

It used to be 'The Bouverie Arms', a very 'Londonesque' Pub, then renamed 'The Frenchman'..Complete with a 2CV inside...Popular with staff from local insurance companies in the '80s/90s... I visited out of nostalgia 4 years ago..Nearly collapsed at the prices..!!! If you go on cruises, it'll be loose change.....

There are far superior places in Folkestone than those included in this list! I couldn’t help but laugh at some of the recommendations. The selections feel outdated and lack the space needed to comfortably enjoy a coffee. It almost seems as though certain venues paid to be featured. A stroll around Folkestone would reveal countless more authentic, impeccably hygienic, and stylish spots to dine and relax. This list is far from an accurate reflection of the true quality the area has to offer.

I was at the pilot beach bar a few weeks ago & really enjoyed my time there. As you said I felt I was not in Folkestone but in a foreign country. I will return here when the weather improves lol. My aunties lived & passed away here. Fam history is here . Though I didn’t know this stuff until after tests were done ….plus a relative was extremely sick, mum passed Dad passed.it took me yrs after my trip at 17 in 1979 to find out this stuff,❤it looks like a storybook town!

If you live locally my #1 place would have to be Marleys at the bottom of the old high street one of the best resturants ive been to.

lovely pub, although when i went to the toilets there was a very bald man doing bag in one of the stalls.

I am German and have been very often in England the only negative experience I've had was in pub in Folkstone.... when visited a pub... someone shouted to me :"go back to France good day". I didn't know if this chap had a dislike against all Europeans and I already know he was not representative for the english.... but this caused a negative feeling for Folkstone... Otherwise I had very positive contacts to the locals..in England.. very positive to be honest..... In every conversation the people emphasized that we have a lot in common mutch more than with any other nation in Europe..... we are both Anglo-Saxons (what your appearences is like) and we need strong ties with Germany after Brexit... So I am deeply anglophile and love England very much.. ❤❤🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇩🇪🤗

Good initiative but progress in Ashford is stop start over the last 20 years. More work is needed to rationalise existing routes and update them to show e.g. to show the revised rights of way at junctions where bike routes and roads cross. Most car drivers do not know that the bike now has right of way when riding "straight on" and they (the vehicle) are turning left/right
