Thanks for the comment. I did and I still do enjoy buying raw to grade. Sometimes I buy raw just to keep raw, and a lot of times now I will buy graded, but finding a nice raw-to-graded opportunity is one of my particular interests in the hobby. It's just fun. I've been burned a couple of times -- I wasn't aware how often the Diamond Stars Paul Waner comes back min-size, and I think the recent sales of it are outliers. My biggest burn was on my '54 Topps Ted Williams 250 - it came back Authentic - Erased (not trimmed at least) for what I thought could've been at least a VG-EX. The SGC cert is 4142382 if you want to see it and it's in one of my first SGC reveal videos. You win some, you lose some. 🤷‍♀

@@jpcards A lot of hand-cut cards are graded Authentic Minimum Size Not Met. As if kids 70 and 80 years ago were supposed to know grading companies of the future would want the cut to be OUTSIDE the lines. When I was cutting Hostess panels as a boy, I cut INSIDE the lines because the dashes were ugly. I think a lot of kids did the same.

I agree -- and I was 11 that year, so it definitely feels vintage to me, lol. I went by the hobby definition of "vintage" as 1980 and earlier.

You know, I haven't really thought much of slabbing my TTM autos. I do have a pair of autos out to PSA/DNA now, though -- who knows, maybe I'll send a few more this year. The McCarver turned out nice, he signed a '70s one for me, too. Thanks for the comment, Stephen!

Hey Steve, I forgot how good some of them were, like the Aparicio and the Zimmer. Maybe I'll grade a couple of these, but not sure. It was cool to break them out though -- I'd venture to say '63 Topps is an iconic set in the hobby in terms of design (with some nice star and rookie power to boot). Thanks for the comment!

I think the '61 is one of Mantle's more underrated cards. I think the pose and crop are good, and with the dark background the portrait really pops. Glad you enjoyed the video -- thanks for the comment!
